As an example that focusing on nostalgia for a franchise is bad, take Heman as an example, for the last ten years it has not tried to renew itself for new generations, always using Filmetion as an example as an aesthetic and well now the fandom is on the verge of extinction, and the other series that have brought in new people like Shera are not considered true fans for these "Heman geewuners", (well there would also be "the CGI series" but they barely even gave that thing any publicity and made the terrible mistake of leaving it as an exclusive on Netflix instead of releasing it on television for greater diffusion) And for me it's very sad about the "Shera and the Princesses of Power" fandom because the truth is that they are interested in learning more about the Motu franchise but they only receive hostility from the older fandom, but well, what could you expect from a community that is mostly made up of old people who don't accept changes? I mean, some are nice and friendly people even though they're older, but others just scare away new blood.
Sadly, that’s how Transformers was for a longtime, especially when I was young and going online for the first time. At that point, all the major creators and voices in the fandom were still G1 fans first and foremost. When I walked in as a kid, loving Armada and saying Animated was my favorite show, there were a lot of bad experiences. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for poking fun and valid criticisms. TJOmega is still my biggest inspiration as a creator, but we have polar opposite opinions on Armada and other series. That’s fine, TJ never made it an attack on anyone. But there were plenty of grown adults who wished death on children around that time. I know, I remember getting those messages. I hate how many fandoms have that same problem. Star Wars, MOTU, Marvel, Godzilla to a lesser extent; such a weird elitism. We should all be in this together and just enjoying our own pockets, not actively waging war with fellow fans. It’s insane. Insane and useless.
I'm on the fence if I want to get 86 Ultra Magnus or not. I have the previous UM who still looks great. I'm glad that Hasbro is doing reissues cause I as able to get Cosmos and Galaxy finally at retail price. I refuse to pay scalper price. I love the four TF One Yoloparks. Fun to put together. Sadly their joints are stiff.
