- Is this the PERFECT LEGO Space Shuttle? 10283 Space Shuttle Discovery might be. The $200 set includes 2,354 pieces to create the Shuttle and Hubble Space Telescope, a large "bonus" build included in my eyes. The set features working landing gear, rudder/speed break, body flap, elevons, and. many other accurate details.

Hot Space Shuttle Summer.
🥵
Indeed 🥵
Oh yes papi
19 minutes EVEN
Yeeheehee
Hubble wasn’t just thrown in, Hubble was launched by Discovery, it’s literally the perfect thing to have been included in the set.
I think he was just trying to be annoying on purpose
Edit: I never said I didn't want to keep watching Ryan and this reply was just dumb and I shouldn't have made it
@@TaunTaunTundra4477 He was always annoying

Okay fun fact time:
At the Kennedy Space Center, Space Shuttle Atlantis was to be displayed at a 45 degree angle, but the guy who was designing the stands for display had it at a 43.21 degree angle. The reasoning for this is because of the countdown: 4...3...2...1...0... LIFTOFF!
Lol that’s cool af
Lol
@Andy-Wan kenobi 43.210=43.21 so it is
OK no one cares & that’s pretty stupid to be honest
@@csquire667 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ryan cares🥺🥺🥺
Fun fact: on the actual Space Shuttle, it can’t retract the landing gear, only deploy them. They have to be manually stowed prior to launch. So the Lego set actually got it exactly right.
Just one thing Ryan, it's called a Canadarm or the Shuttle Remote Manipulator System. It came from a relationship between NASA and the National Research Council of Canada that started in 1975.
OMG Yes! Kinda sad that they didn’t create stickers for the Canadarm.
@@arnabsaha7525 You'd probably need surgical levels of precision to get a sticker on that thing just saying
Ryan, there is a piece missing in the cockpit! It goes on the clip piece on the front control panel. It looks cool with the trophy figures from the Saturn five and ISS in the seats. Also to get the Hubble in the payload bay you have to take the golden rods off then place it on with the nasa logo piece facing up. The 2 black pieces that stick out on the sides that the rods attach too sit on top the light gray printed part with lines. The back of the Hubble should press against the 2 tabs in front of the spring pieces for the landing gear. Hope this helps.
As we all know, Denmark was the first to make it to the Moon. Benny never gets credit for being the first to walk on the Moon
Golden comment
Benny will earn his place among the greats.
Nah Denmark did not do that it was oblivious that it was steve
Wait I thought it was the germans, I saw it on this documentary. It had zombies and space ships.
As Benny would say SPaCEShIP!!
The landing gear is 100% accurate to the real shuttle. Once the landing gear is down you’re landing.
i think you're landing and then you bring down the landing gear not vice versa
@@f6ngxcm no because with the shuttles once you deployed the landing gear, you couldn't bring it back up to reattempt a landing, hence him saying, that once you deployed the landing gear you were landing, whether on the runway or off it
@@captainrex9053 you cant retry anyways cause ur a glider with the glide ratio of a brick
@@michagrill9432 i mean they did nickname it the flying brick :)
Correct. The shuttles didnt have any hydraulic systems to retract the gear like a typical aircraft. Once released they deployed via gravity. They could only be put back into the wheel wells by ground crews
Definitely going to buy it, I have always loved aircraft and spacecraft and this is an amazing model so thanks for the review!
That claw inside the ship was actually made by Canada and they put a tiny Canadian flag on the side of it. I would be really impressed if they added that in there.
Unfortunately they didn't but a seller on Etsy has made replacement tube piece that has the correct Canada text and flag.
@@fredbelfort3778 really!, I gota check that out
Very nice looking build. I always like how the telescope fits smoothly inside the shuttle.
I've always had a certain fascination with the Space Shuttle. Particularly back in the very late 70's. The shuttle just had that Buck Rogers in the 21st Century feel to it. It's quite a lovely aircraft/ space vehicle. This Lego set was a no brainer for me. I bought it to build and display in my office near my desk top. The build went beautifully. I took my time and did the build in my spare time for enjoyment. Once built, I was actually sad because it gave me such enjoyment. I see several light sets are available as well. Which might add a different dynamic to the set.
Though I own a ranch with horses here in Texas, I love these type hobbies if you will. It challenges the mind. Now it sits in my office under an acrylic case with acrylic stands inside. It looks amazing and my ranch hands love looking at it as well. I do have family at NASA in Houston Texas. One an engineer and the other an analyst. Both worked on the program back in the early to mid 90's. I sent pictures of my Shuttle. They both were in awe I could build such a thing. Especially since they know I'm just a rancher. That was fun.
Overall the build was relatively without incident. Those mirrored stickers were a little tricky, but all went precisely where they needed to be. I was particularly proud of the Hubble build. It gives some sense of scale if one were to imagine 1:1 scale. The real Hubble is an engineering feat. Some of the most incredible images of space, deep space, came by way of Hubble and yes Discovery launched it. Oh and my family member, the one who is an engineer, sent me one tile, serial numbered from one of the earlier Shuttles. It makes my display even more meaningful. I highly recommend this set. Like I stated, it's a relatively easy build. 🛰

I am just finished building this set. The stickers were a bit painful to put on, but besides that, this is a brilliant set. I will need to find some SPACE to put it now.
Gotta wait for my next paycheque then im gonna buy this lol
Ryan: *mentions Discovery and Atlantis*
Endeavor: *cries in California*
Enterprise: cries in New York

Don't forget 'Pathfinder'.

It’s so smooth and sleek I love it!
The blue technic pins are friction pins. Lego often make them blue so they aren't easily confused with the regular pins.
Nice review! I like how you showed the engineering behind the landing gear function, I have this set and didn't pick up on the tiles in the hallway shifting as the plate pushes in, I thought it only affected the spring loaded parts on the interior.
Mine is coming this week! Bought it along with the ISS and both will be great editions next to my Saturn V and Lunar Lander.
The Space Shuttle looks an awesome, clean model. Hope the build is good too. Only got an hour into your live build the other night. Keep up the good work Ryan👍
Awesome I have the Saturn V and ISS but not the Lunar Lander I hope to get that one and this one man LEGO really delivers on these NASA sets!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Well done. This set is AMAZING! Mine just arrived in the mail today :) It is not only a great build but an impressive model in its own right. Lego has been hitting it out of the park. Could we be in the golden age of Lego? Thanks again for posting.
Could you possibly let me know of the box dimensions ☺️ planning on getting this lovely set down, thank you in advance ☺️
I would've been able to see this in D.C. but my school trip got cancelled.
Rona?
i saw it in DC in 2018
So having seen Discovery at the Udvar Hazy center, it is fantastic. I don’t think we realize just how large these things were until standing next to them. If you are able to get there, or see any space shuttle period, do it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
I saw it on my trip to to dc NGL it’s cool
The Telescope fits perfectly and snug into the bay if you remove the folded solar panels add ons taht they want you to use to display it when it unloads the telescope :)
Just found out about it and it's a perfect fit!
It's also sooo heavy when u have Hubble inside of the shuttle
So glad you got the meaning of the velocity correct. Thank you Master Mand
Ordered mine the minute it released and is still yet to be shipped. Looks amazing and i love the various details like the rudder flap!
I am a huge fan of the Space Shuttle program. I recently got into LEGO again and was on the Lego site buying. I saw this advertised all over the site and really wanted to buy it. I clicked the ads and it always took me to like star wars sets. I thought it wasn't released or was a retired set. I was bored about a week later when I found the Exclusive selection of the site and finally found this set and bought it instantly. I can't wait till build it. It looks truly amazing.
A little late but the Hubble Space Telescope was included because this specific set was modelled after the STS-31 mission, which was the mission that launched the HST into orbit. On a more personal note, I think the decision to make it Shuttle Discovery specifically was a cool idea. Discovery was the most-used OV in the program, and even performed both return-to-flight missions following the STS-51L and STS-107 disasters. However, I think they should have included interchangeable nameplates and logos so you can display any of the five shuttles. But still a fantastic model regardless.
I love the energy dude! 👍🏻
After having an addiction to space flight, lego, and seeing the Endeavor space shuttle in person, I love and want this set
I hope they do a new Naboo Starfighter using the drum lacquered silver bricks. Sure, it isn't super shiny chrome, but I think it would look great, and probably be a ton more durable as far as the finish.
I’m just mad they didn’t make the razor crest out of that awesome silver colour. Hopefully we get a USC version in that colour 😬
Way too expensive to do something that big, this was the most they've ever done. Plus LEGO probably wouldn't want the paint on a UCS set chipping over time.
Definitely A Cool Shuttle And A Great Review.... Looking Forward To The Build Myself! Awesome Content And Video.... Looking Forward To The Next Video 😁👍🏼
This is set that i really want. Maybe i will buy it in the future.
Great review Ryan I love it and will be purchasing
She is a beautiful set, I LOVE IT!
Ryan: I’m not gonna post a video on Mondays! (Post a video on Monday for the 3rd week straight)
Had it in my hands at the LEGO store on launch day (pun intended) but decided to think about it. At least now I can use your affiliate link!
Oh! And fantastic review.
I love space and epically the big LEGO Space ships, I have the 2010 Discovery, the Saturn V and I can't wait to get this
Ah! Finally! I can combine this with the big bird minifigure from Lego Ideas Sesame street and recreate the near alternative timeline of the Challenger Disaster.
Great review Ryan. One, as a Canadian, it is the Canadarm ( a contraction of Canada Arm). Was developed by Spar Aerospace for the Shuttle Program in Canada, just a few kms from where I am writing this. Yeah Canada.
Two, the section you pull out on the Hubble, to mount it to the Shuttle, is actually where they did the repair for the Hubble. Cool bit of detail there.
Ohm, some more info. As the F-1 engines ion the Saturn V and the SSME engines on the shuttle are about the same size, the used of the same parts for the engines means the Lego Apollo Saturn V and this model are to the same scale.
I like how it is mostly studded off
Fantastic set, my favourite build along with Ecto-1.
Awesome! I have mine on order, actually two of them by accident which will both arrive this week!
Glad I picked one up, can’t wait to build it! Just not looking forward to the reflective stickers lmao
Epic review 👌!
Absolute unit to put into my collection. I have the Saturn v, ISS, and the Apollo 11. Cannot wait to get this
The Apollo 11 is the Saturn V, do you mean the Lunar Lander?
I have been avoiding review's for this because I don't want to spoil this for me
I can’t wait till someone makes the main tank and srbs and uploads instructions and a parts link for bricklink. I’m 100% gonna get it when they do (maybe not right away but definitely eventually)
3:03 i heard the voice crack😂. Nice video keep going!👍
If you take off the solar panels you can properly fit Hubble in the payload bay.
It truly looks amazing
you have to remove those gold rods to fit it into the payload bay. great review!
Hubble Telescope pieces are gonna really help out in building Padme’s ship MOCs because of all those silver round pieces
I am currently building the ucs minellium falcon and love watching your videos while building
The telescope without the solar panels looks like a light saber
Seeing those shiny grey pieces gives me hope for a stsr wars nubian ship
I just got mine yesterday, I’m very excited to build it
Gotta always love anything related to Space Shuttle Discovery, or just any space shuttle in general.
No you really don’t & I can’t stand anything space shuttle related tbh
this is just such a cool set, the miniscaled interior was the right choice
I lived in Titusville Florida and got to watch the launches in the 80s
This set looks awesome 👍 I would have this
I am now grabbing this set tomorrow!
If you remove the gold arms on the side of the hubble it sits perfectly inside the payload bay
I just finished building mine today and I must say its the coolest Lego set I've ever had (dont have the fancy Millennium Falcon yet 😅).
I have the 2010 one with the boosters but I’m missing a white piece. I knocked it over when I was younger playing with a ball inside my room lol
I have a very important question , does the phantom lego with no figurine but all the pieces of the ship without box and plan is a good offer for 40 ? it is the rebel version
Ryan I saw a Lego store employee building one of these the day before it came out so I knew it was coming out a day before it did
When I got mine I built it pretty quick but it didn’t come with crew so I just used some extra from my ISS and Saturn V
One of my trips to USA got to see Enterprise at New Yorks Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum... this arrived this morning Tuesday Aussie time.
MandR so Um J2g did face reveal and took of his insect mask. When are you going to take off your human mask?
Love that patriots knife, too cool
Can you do a vlog going to the space center? Thanks!
If lego later comes up with the Tank and Boosters, I would gladly buy it! Also... They should do the transport vehicle/launch base... Whatever it's called.
Got this set recently and it's beautiful. Got the lunar lander, ISS, and the Saturn V with it. Love the space theme lego sets
What do you recommend, to try and push for the shuttle, which is currently ~160$ or to get the lunar lander which is ~75$? 160$ is quite expensive to me tho, but it is possible(at limit)
Edit:forgot to say, i am 15, so the money is tight
@@Mitistefan right now go for the lunar lander it's retiring at the end of the year and the shuttle is only expected to retire next year
The landing gear is awesome!
Just got this one! Already had the Saturn V and the Space Station. Just need that Lunar Lander set ✌🏼
You are my FAVOURITE UA-cam! When will your next live stream be?
I have ordered mine and cant wait to build it and then place it next to my saturn v and lunar lander.
im just gonna wait for this to be available on amazon.
Hoping that this leads to maybe a falcon 9 model? Would be sick next to the Saturn V
You can fit Hubble in the shuttle there’s a angle that it can fit and the doors shut all the way
My partner has got me this for next Xmas already. I can't wait
I wish I could buy this set! But right now I have to pick and chose. and I already have the Saturn V and that set is a lot closer to my heart.
As a Canadian I think Lego could have included an extra printed peace for the Canadarm :( I know it they would not put on a small set like the ISS but this set is big enough that it could have been done and many Canadians are now moding their sets with a sticker or 3rd party part.
This set looks so clean
I remember seeing this set at the musuem that the Space Shuttle Discovery is located at here in the DC Metro area. I really wanted to get it, but my grandmother had given me a price cap on what I could buy, so sadly I couldn't get it.
Definitely buying that
Love how they included a free NASA flashlight, great set!
Omg I am such a big collector of space sets and also star wars actually all lego
It’s such a clean model. The minimal studs make it look incredible and I would love to have it, it would be a fine addition to my collection.

Maybe a late question, in the stickers is there only the Discovery stickers or all names of all shuttles and you can pick which one to use and you picked discovery?
