It's a shame that I was eager to jump on the original GPD Win 4. I backed the indiegogo campaign at the end of 2022 and got my 6800u Win4 in may 2023. Just one year later it seems completely obsolete... especially with those temperatures. I even put PTM7950 on mine to lower them (which it did) but its still only usable with the 3d printed grip as it gets too hot in the hands and starts to slip. Don't get me wrong, I like my Win4 and I've enjoyed having it. But with how inferior it already is to the new model it feels like I should have waited...
The win mini 2023 variant has occulink and is better than the 2024 variant without it in my opinion. Better looking screen despite the lack of VRR. I ain't buying another win mini till thunderbolt 5 becomes staple
You will be waiting forever with that mindset. They refresh the models every 8 months making every older model feel obsolete
well if u buy now i will regret buying it too since rdna 3.5 is near, technology does improve every year, same thing with pc and phone
I love my indigogo 6800u model. It's my main PC, allthough I do have a desktop/workstation docking station and living room EGPU dock station set up. The grass is greener sure, but mine does most everything I want it to. Been playing death stranding on it with the EGPU lately. Beat Jedi fallen order and survivor on it in handheld mode no grip. Keep it plugged in, fully charged and bypassing the battery and it stays a lot cooler. When it is gaming that hard it can get too hot when using the battery, but also the battery doesn't last long enough to play games like that using the battery. If I am playing it unplugged I power down the tdp and play something less demanding to keep it cool and keep the battery lasting longer than 1 hour 45 min
I just got the 8840u version this week and wow i was wondering why my system wasn’t getting hot or uncomfortable to hold even after playing elden ring. its so good this is the peak of the gpd win 4 and im so glad i waited!
been playing elden ring dlc on the 7840u and the right side is almost unbearably hot, wonder what they did to fix that
@@gpdgameconsole Yes i tried disable rumble, still gets hot. is the motor heating up?
@@gpdgameconsole I fixed the issue by cleaning the air vents under the fan, so the right side is no longer hot so i dont need to remove rumble! although, i'm worried still because the battery is the hottest part of the device
I got the newest GPD win 4 two weeks ago. It has been an amazing experience being able to play any game I want with good graphics and fps.
*GPD give us phone with qwerty keyboard already. You are the only one who able to do it 🎉*
Mine new win 4 8840u was supposed to arrive tomorrow according to aliexpress tracker info. Unfortunately it is stuck on custom clearance for 5 days. So i watch youtube videos instead 🤷🏼♂️
Hello, will you ever release a 64Gb ram model please ? I dont want to buy one if I can wait a bit more to get one with the amount of ram that I really need.
I am more interested in the version that will come out at some point later on. The version with the new AMD APU's seem to have some... pretty awesome improvements.
Also i wonder if snapdragon takes off, how well that would work.
I purchased the first GPG console in this form factor. It was defective and customer service sucked
so NO upgrades actually....just mew chip that is exactly the same as previous model.unfortunately win4 gets too hot on the right side......😅

The fan is hardly using any power. It's the fact we're using Windows and an x86 CPU. Nothing we can do.
What major thermal improvements! You can see in gameplay segments, amazing.
:)
