Starting to look that way. The only other contender- for me - is Schnittke. Based upon UA-cam comments, Petterson and Davies have strong followings. For me, right now, only Henze and Schnittke have cracked the pantheon of "worlds best". To be sure this is for the category of Symphony where said works are self titled as such. I happen to like William Schuman (and Harris and Bernstein) a great deal. But that is a hometown bias (Americans)! Other composers whose ouvre I am pursuing are Ginastera and Birtwistle. Verdict still out.
In time, Henze will go down as one of the Great Symphonic composers of the modern era.
