That first Dm chord is a Sus9 guys. Very useful for creating a sorta floaty "opening up" feeling. The suspended 9 here is the E. Id est one octave and a tone up. PS i have never seen someone use the eq on the mixer before. I honestly forget it exists 99% of the time
