If you live around coyote's you have to have medium size dogs and up, probably a breed with some drive in it. Think Aussie, blue healer, not my favorite but bull type dogs. All those pit bull mixes in the shelters would be perfectly safe.
It's the kind of reaction that people say for a missing cat or a cat that was killed by a coyote. It's the same as saying it's the cat owner's fault for letting them out.
Terrible idea whenever your being attacked by a animal don’t make yourself seem stronger sense it’s gonna make them more aggressive stay calm don’t make eye contact
Coyotes aren’t as timid towards humans in the city vs the rural areas. They’re not necessarily more aggressive. I’ve seen a coyote walk across the street on the crosswalk lol
My dog was attacked by one in Russian hill at a park, practically pulled the thing off him as it tried to drag it back to his den. Got lucky that day, be careful.
For everyone saying they needed to follow leash laws, Baker Beach is an off leash dog beach. This was an unfortunate event while out with their pets. Also really easy to get your car broken into out there.
NOOOO!! I used to live in Telegraph Hill North Beach and I would see Coyotes all the time, as soon as I’d see them I’d pick my dog up. One of the first experiences I had with the coyotes was me and my dog being stalked by one ALL the way home….it was so scary. Anyway I yelled no repeatedly at the coyote and it kept a distance but still stalked us, I carried my dog all the way home. I was lucky I only had one dog. I can’t imagine the pain they are going through now. NOT blaming the owner, but when I had my incident ( one of many but the worst of them) I had my dog leashed, which made it easier to pull him to me and pick him up. I know it’s tempting to let your babies run free but they are so much safer leashed in this city.
Wow. That’s crazy. Out in the country side coyotes are considered pests and are irradiated. Here in SF, the populace feeds them, and protects them. And then wonder why their trophy puppies and cats go missing.
Don't know which 'countryside' you're referring to but here in the Santa Cruz Mountains we know they're part of the ecosystem and take the proper precautions to keep them wild and away from people. We don't kill them unless absolutely necessary.
