    Very cool. I'm a Canadian, and I was in a band for 8 years with three Italian Canadian friends. We did the godfather theme as part of our set, with our singer singing the Italian lyrics. It always went over well, even though the audience had no idea what Rob was singing. I play mandolin as well as guitar (sorry) and bass (poorly). I'm going to have to learn this song on mandolin. Thanks for another great video, Dave.

      In tutta onestà, ciò che ha suonato sul mandolino è piuttosto facile, specialmente se hai già delle doti sul basso come le sue. Cambiano gli intervalli tra le corde (è accordato per quinte anzi che per quarte) ma per il resto il principio per suonarlo è sempre lo stesso. Anche la tecnica della mano destra è piuttosto facile e rapida da imparare...lo dico perché suono la chitarra e incuriosito ho comprato un mandolino. Dopo i primi 10 minuti di spaesamento dati dalla scala più piccola e dall'accordatura diversa è tutto piuttosto immediato!
      Con ciò non sto assolutamente dicendo che Davie non sia un fenomeno pazzesco, sia ben chiaro

    • @alessiodigirolamo1635
      @alessiodigirolamo1635 Рік тому +1

      @@frankscassi4960 si, certo. Benché io non sia musicista, sapevo che in questo preciso video Davie non avesse mostrato chissà che doti, il commento ha sia un valore ironico che un riferimento al fatto che Davie ci abbia tenuto a condividere questo strumento sul suo giustamente celebre canale. Così, a mio parere, ha espresso a pieno l’identità italiana che, nonostante la distanza e l’Inglese, non ha dimenticato.

    In the Philippines, we have what I believe is basically the same instrument. We call it banduria, maybe that is its Spahish name. It is seldom played as a solo instrument, but usually in a large string band called a rondalla. It is common in folkloric performances, and many high schools have a rondalla group as a co-curricular activity.

    I see him play all these other instruments, and I think, gosh, I wonder what he could do with a bass. It’s odd that he’s never played one in any of the videos I’ve seen. Oh well. Maybe someday 😊

    Fun video! I’ve been taking up mandolin lately, and wondered why it’s not a more popular instrument - after all, it’s small and lightweight, and you can learn a full song in one lesson then spend the rest of your life exploring it. But I’ve since figured out the answer: It is BRUTAL on your fretting fingers. Take the callouses you get from playing guitar, and then it’s like putting them up against a cheese grater.

    it was good but i think the last tune at the end was easily the most technical part , epico!

    But besides that, EPIC mandolin skills

    Mandolin and bass are closer than you think. To find a mandolin chord you can just imagine it played on bass guitar and _turn it upside down._

    Whoa, that is good. But just remembered the E-A-D-G mandolin tuning. That's the same tuning on a double bass and the bottom top down ones on a 6-string guitar.
