@xObscureMars I'm no expert, and it's hard to tell because the two vehicles in my photo are covered with dudes. I see what looks like a large metal box on the front right side of the hull nestled into the turret (ammo box?). There are two cylinders clustered together on the right of the turret that look like launchers of some kind. There's a search light directly to the right of the gun barrel. There's also a rectangular panel mounted on a post above the turret that looks like a shade screen. On the right side of the vehicle, I can see a cage for holding gear. And there are decals on the vehicle my granddad is sitting on. On the front right mudguard, the number 7 in a circle. On the right side of the turret, the word "maestro". Does that help at all?
@@austin2842 Yes, it does. I can picture it . I figured the combat loaded ones look much more unique with their own personalities. Thanks for the very detailed description. @@wotwott2319 The US Marines use the LAV, but it's obsolete now so they are in the process of developing a new armored recon vehicle. They claim it will be like "an F-35 on the battlefield." We shall see.
My father was a squad commander in these armoured cars, operating between the lines and mostly for the Yanks, who were considered more dangerous than the Germans! He never talked about his time in the army and it was clear that a couple of incidents left an indelible mark.
@@bravo2zero796 Scouting for the Yanks in The Rhineland, the squad spent the night at a farm in a valley. Then a couple of minutes later the American opened up with their 105mm artillery on the same spot!!!!! The saving grace was that the Yanks were just plain useless and couldn't hit a barn door at 50ft. They had to spend the night under the Armoured cars rather than enjoying the hospitality of the local farmer's family. One of my grandfather's friends was a tanker in WWII (Grandpa was Navy) and he said several times that the recon boys saved more lives than battlefield medics did. Many potential ambushes and fire sacks were avoided because the boys in the light armored cars saw what was what before the heavy armor rolled into serious trouble.
Very similar vehicles were deployed during the Portuguese Ultramar War in Africa, of which my grandfather is a veteran of. Very fascinating vehicles indeed.
I want one of those for driving to work in the morning during rush hour. If the traffic won't go then I just pull off the road and drive straight across people's lawns. And if the police chase after me then I can just speed away backwards. Lol.
They had a major problem according to my Father who trained on them in Coventry before being instructed to drive to Dover to assist in defence of Dunkirk. The wheel stations were partially composed of aluminium which fractured. Fortunately, though driving flat out through the night the transport to France had left a little before and he was unable to load his section. Roads were not as good then and people had to be kicked out of bed to refuel.
I wonder how many players complain about that? Cause, it needs speed to survive and not being to go 70 in reverse is a crime against the little plucky scout.
This remined me the turkish armored vehicle called "akreb" . It has a electrical engine and a bigger turret. Overall, the new version of this original idea. Nice concept and still applicable in a modern battlefield.
This thing is pretty fun when you RP in WT. I wasn’t RP per say, but when I used vehicles for the purpose they were designed for, sometimes I can get some pretty gnarly kills or get far into enemy lines
I might have been assigned to one, as my MOS was armor and infantry recon. It looks up to the mission, but it needs a long cabled winch, mounted machine gun and lower profile.
They should release an updated version with different. Models. I could see a 20 or 30 mm chain gun one with a 50cal gat and grenade chain gun one with an auto morter and one with something like a tow missle set up.
I would love having a modern car that would drive forward and backwards with 5sp either way, steering for either direction and four wheel drive.

That was not even the worst it was a okay Scout vehicle it had also good use for a light support use if it's just small arm fire like pistols and simple rifles it is perfect
