This is a very special rendering: Why? If you are a serious rasika, you'd know that Brovavamma is usually sung in Manji raga. The AIR lady announced it as Bhairavi. Initially I thought the announcing lady made a mistake which she/he never does in a preplanned guest-invited kutcheri to be aired all over India. I was wrong. This is indeed Bhairavi in all its majesty. Manji has shades of Bhairavi as Sri Tanjavur Kalyanaraman used to remind us. Who knows Syamashastri might have composed in Bhairavi to begin with. Then -- gifted musicians such as Kalyanaraman presented it as Manji, a delightful diversion in a rare raga. Good for him. MDR who is a researcher must have found out that Syamashastri wrote it in Bhairavi and wished to stick with the original intent. No matter this is one of the best Bhairavi renderings. We don't expect anything less from the master any way. Since I am not an expert on the nuances of the intricate details that distinguish Manji from Bhairavi I have nothing further to say about it. One thing is quite clear: With late Sri V Thyagarajan and late Sri Raghu on his side MDR has presented just another delightful and surrounder-to-perfection Bhairavi for the pleasure of all serious rasikas. Pranams to the trio here! Guruji-inspired my native Kerala's "tayambaka" -style layavinyasam from one of the all time mridanga vidwans adds beauty to this already beautiful rendering of Bhairavi. Would like to comment this resika’s observation that this is rendered in clear manji except the announcement. The phrases srgm and r,gm,,, projected in alapana and of course in the composition

One more valid point that MDR never sang sgrg which is the identity of bhairavi
@@sivaviolin Do you claim that the phrase srgm never occurs in Bhairavi?
