It still is playable... Especially on pc with mods. But even on console I can sink hours into this game.. such a shame ea chucked it.. and what makes it worse was it was for a game that went on to be so bad in battlefield that people play the older versions more lol
I feel the same way about another video game, with that being the 2022 hunting video game "Way of the Hunter." I will not play that game until they add Elephants, Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes, Crocodiles, and Zebras to Tikamoon Plains (a map set in Africa). You can sign the petition I created on Change to make it happen.
Still play this occasionally, mainly co-op and still have the smallest hope that they’d return even minimal support to the game or at the very least make a 3rd installment (Whether that’s from an EA company or someone else). Or heck, maybe even have console mod support too would be the next best thing
Thats what hapened to TF2, people stayed determined, gave up hope but EVENTUALY it FINALY started geting suport again, so yes, you should give up hope.....wait-
Just got my old PS4 fixed, and I'm playing BF2 again, so nostalgic, but what's particularly annoying is that first up, crossplay isn't a thing, so all my friends who have it on PC can't join me, and second, it's dead, so there's always only like 2 servers up for each game mode, so if I don't like a map, I still have to play it. This game has a small but dedicated following. We should petition to Dice and EA to revive it.
I got this game for Christmas back in 2017, but I had it returned almost immediately. The reason was because I had heard of the immensely ungodly microtransactions and other issues beforehand, and I also just had no interest at all in the game. In place of Battlefront II, I got Minecraft: PS4 Edition (now called Minecraft: Bedrock Edition).
The simple explanation for why companies release half-finished games is because they're not making games for people who like playing them, they're making games for investors. Investors don't buy games, they invest in them, hoping to turn a profit. If a group of 100 investors each chip in $50,000 per person, that group has a $5,000,000 investment in the game's success. In very over-simplified math, they're all out $5M, and while they're waiting for a return on investment (ROI), they need to be making that money up elsewhere. That same group of investors will be investing a few thousand dollars into dozens of other projects as well. While the investors wait on their big fish to land, they've got their hooks out for dozens of smaller fish all around, and instead of playing video games, every single day, they're chatting with their bankers, portfolio managers, attorneys... all in pursuit of that ROI, which they need to be higher than what the initial investment was. Going back to the initial $5M investment, the group doesn't want to wait 5 years for an ROI- which every year, the required ROI grows higher to account for time without that money- so the publisher will release the game after 2 years, then spend the next 3 years finishing it. This way, the ROI only needs to be maybe 10% ($500,000) rather than 25% ($1,250,000). This is the difference between a company like EA having to pay that group $5,500,000 for their $5M investment, or $6,250,000. The longer investors got without that ROI, the more money they'll expect, so the deadline is 2 years instead of 5 years, and the price paid is that games release unfinished. That is the shortest way to explain why, ignoring the fact that companies get dozens and dozens of other investor groups / individuals, each with different investment amounts and ROI demands. The point is that the people making the games aren't making them for the people who buy them, they're making them for the people who fund them. They haven't made games for gamers in probably 25 years. It's just another industry to these people.
The game was good once they fixed it but still inferior, I am still baffled how original battlefront II still has a better co-op experience (riding vehicles as multiple ppl, spawning next to ur buddy should be mandatory feature) and we couldnt get conquest (if they upgraded it better). This is just a personal preference, I would love a mode with no heroes (specialised units and vehicles should be the only "upgrades" or sidegrages even, I dont play hero even when I have thw points to do it bcs I love playing as a soldier they are too dope, battlefront was always about armies clahing to me, not having the focus on the hero/villain that much. As a final note, the only original good idea the new battlefront II had, was the ewok hunt mode the ambience was perfect as a horror shooter for such a short match. The rest they could have sticked to a almost perfect copy and it would have been superior.
"Remember battlefront 2?" Still playing with my boysss
Same bro
Same brothers
Bro im addicted
Same my favorite game
add me @ LiftedJoe1
Im still mad that they cut support to focus on bugfield 2042
This is a game that if it still had service it could be playable till this day

Me : " YESSSSSSSSSSS, THATS AT LEAST SOMETHING"

On the bright side it is the best battlefront game ever made if you have a pc. Kyber V2 makes this game actually top tier quality
I’m still playing the OG 2005 one.

On PC there is a stats page mod for the game. I am at 3.66 kd.
there is a pretty extensive competitive scene on PC
