    It's important for some horses to stretch down and do horse yoga without the weight of a rider on their back. As long as the horse is comfortable with it and it ISN'T TOO TIGHT I have found it helpful, especially with horses that have tightness in their lower back.

    Great for jabbing the horse in the mouth every time they take a stride and teaching them to suck back and avoid contact. The side-to-side pressure from their legs is probably annoying too. When will people realize that the position of their head is a symptom of self-carriage, not a cause. Same for the stretch.

      TurkeyBurglar Jones Actually, unlike traditional side reins, this gives with every stride. Watch the rope slide through the side ring with each trot step. It's very kind, giving contact.

      If fitted correctly it is a brilliant aid but she doesnt have it on as per nelson passoa. The aid should encourage swing thoughout the body without that jabbing. Check out nelson passoa lunging its an entirely different picture.

    There is a reason these are not used anymore. You can see how uncomfortable the horse is even standing still.

    When connected to the loop in between the legs is the action similar to the action of draw reins?

    Hi Danny is your system on the longest setting for your mare? if she is giving you resistance and lagging on it allow her a longer rein, I have found this really useful I have a young wb gelding that is croup high and very unbalenced and has also had stifle surgury on both back legs from locking when he was younger so when i ride him it makes it harder to find his own balance and mine and he trips alot with this he is using himself well long anf low and building up the strength to carry himself

    I have this training aid ,and my 5 year old ottb mare works really well with it at the walk but at the trot and canter she just pulls at it ,not matter wat my trainier does or wat ever ring we put it on ,any advice plz thanks :P

    the Equiami is a better system as it works on a loop, this allows the horse to find balance, and instantly gives with the horse. No set or rigid lines, so the horse cannot lean. This does help the horse to balance and so is a true aid as it is a flexible system, and not a 'set' system. The horse finds balance naturally, as it gives and adjusts through the entire loop. Because of the system being a loop, it also only needs to be adjusted on one side.

    I dont ask him to canter with this on and hes just not ready to canter in this frame well, I ask him to leg yeild from the inside of the circle to the outer track using the lunge whip just asking him to step across the change in his gait and topline the last few months has been great i lunge him 20 mins every 2-3rd day in this system otherwise we go for a hack out down the road keeps him happy and not bored upload a video of your girl lunging and i might be able to help :)

    The lunge rope from bit over the head is good for control. Love the system. Some equine folk need to do a productive lunge indoors..makes the horse think about it!

    • @karenwaters9352
      @karenwaters9352 5 років тому

      Wrong. If you are positioned correctly slightly behind the horse it has a backward influence on the bit instead of a forwards and round influence that the centre ring on a cavesson has.

    My horse freaks out and takes off whenever i try to put a rope behind his hind legs. Will this system help him desensitize to that?

      I know you posted this months ago, but hopefully this helps if you’re still struggling- no, I would not start with this. Has the potential to really set your horse up for failure and more anxiety by trapping them in the pressure before they’re ready. To start, make sure you can hold your horse on a short lead and crack the lunge whip on the ground anywhere around the horse without them moving, ideally with them showing relaxation. Then you should get them comfortable swinging the tail of the whip over their neck/back with quick (not painful, no hitting!) movements. Then start swinging the whip around their legs in the same repetitive motions until they show signs of relaxation. Once they are comfortable with first two steps there’s usually no fuss about legs/hind end being touched. You can do all this with a rope instead of a lunge whip if your horse is scared of that specifically. Just be careful with how you swing it on the legs, it has potential to wrap and “catch” on the legs for a moment which can be really scary at first for a nervous horse! Eventually you should catch it on the legs on purpose to get them totally placid with the whole thing. If your horse is cool with all this on the ground, then throw em in the Pessoa

    You dont have it on correctly!! The pulley is not to go on the bit, check out video of nelson passoa explanation on how to use the aid he invented!!!

    This is wrongly set up!
    There is an actual UA-cam video of Nelson himself using it. The pullies go on the roller on the d rings not on the bit!

    Check out art to ride instead, the book tug of war is also good.
    This horse is clearly not working correctly, especially the neck is looking bad.
    One should long rain, og use long siderains to develop a healthy self engaging topline instead of a forced, stiff and crooked topline.

  • @riverp9019
    @riverp9019 11 років тому +2

    Not convinced. Sensitive horses will not tolerate that thing behind the backlegs like that, even if they accept it they will be very stiff through the back and neck as a result and there will be less reach of the forelegs. Similarily quieter horses will completely ignore it after a few rounds so its affect will be minimal. The best way to get a young unbacked horse if it doesnt already engage its hinds is long reining with steadily increased collection and half halts. No short cuts Im affraid.

  • @philvinet4145
    @philvinet4145 4 роки тому

    Collection starts with relaxation of the topline...That has to come first....then engagement of the core....simple but beyond most british trainers understanding.

    Don't like the lunge line onto the bit ring over the top of the head. Poor horse how many bits of kit are asking him to do what with the bit? Why not use a caves son

    • @karenwaters9352
      @karenwaters9352 5 років тому

      My pet hate too! If you are positioned correctly slightly behind the horse it has a backward influence on the bit, instead of a forwards and round influence that a centre ring on a cavesson produces. People are SO lazy these days and think nothing for the horse's discomfort ☹️

    try to lower the speed of going this will put your horse more on hindquarter motion instead what i think she is doing is going on forehand. any horse that pulls is most commonly carrying most of his weight on front legs.other tip (consider if it fits your horse in age,aids she knows and sencitivity)good way to stop form pulling is to loosen noseband trough one hole lower than you ussually put. that makes her to think and realise that she is actually pulling herself, not you or pessoa.msg me4more

    It's called a roller... Not a circingle , a circingle is elasticated.

    • @karenwaters9352

      It's a roller. And it's surcingle not circingle. A surcingle is a single strap used for added security around a rug or a racing saddle

    Confusion of a rider on their back? Thinking about their hind legs? The sales pitch just didn't compute for me. There is just no end to the "gizmos". All the talk about hindquarters yet everyone is riding the head. Like another commenter said: "Bah! Learn how to ride".

    • @QueenNoodle94
      @QueenNoodle94 7 років тому

      Terri Reuser the original developer suggests only issuing it twice a week and was only developed to help the house find balance in the walk and transition into the canter. this is not hooked up correctly in this video acc it's too loose on the stifle and too tight on the bit

    • @TerriReuserHVR90
      @TerriReuserHVR90 7 років тому

      Tiffany Wallett It's still a bunch of silliness. Like I said, no end of gizmos (and marketing) designed by those who don't ride to sell to people who don't ride. People always looking for something and really, the answers come from within. Focus on understanding the horse and learn to ride. Sadly, most want to focus on winning and will take any "short cut" they believe necessary, including buying crap like this.

    This system might be okay, if the rope at the hindlegs wasn`t directly connected to the bit. This is cruelty, because with every stride they take, the strap jerks the bit.
    A horse will learn to stretch without any aids, of you just invest the time it takes. I would never lunge with a bit either.

    • @sarasounds2389
      @sarasounds2389 6 років тому

      Nightgrauen. No it's not. Unlike traditional side reins, the rope feeds through the ring on the sircingle and gives with every stride. It's a very kind way to teach a horse to seek and stretch to contact.
