An Interview with Mike Wohnoutka, Children's Book Author and Illustrator ~ (The Mary Hanson Show)

In this interview Mary sits down with Mike Wohnoutka, Minneapolis based children's book illustrator and author. Mike shares stories about his childhood and education related to his work today, and he explains the creative process that goes into his writing and illustrating. Examples of his work are inserted into the interview. Mike also relates how he and David LaRochelle, the author he works with primarily now, collaborate. Of special note, Mike and David won the prestigious Theodore Seuss Geisel Award in 2021. The Geisel Award is given to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers published in English in the United States during the preceding year. The book is titled See the Cat: Three Stories About a Dog. They even more recently were told they had won the Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selections for See the Cat and See the Dog!
