Thanks again, Hanna, Pete and (for filming it) James. It's hard to imagine how two string players could do anything better than this with 'Dinah' - the creativity is outstanding. 'Dinah' was composed in 1925 by Harry Akst, Sam Lewis and Joe Young . As we can hear, Hanna and Pete have chosen to play it in the key of G. Full jazz bands usually go for F or A flat, which are more comfortable for the brass and reed players.
The interesting thing about this selection was that I had contacted Hanna a couple of weeks earlier and asked her to play "Daphne". When she asked the audience for a suggestion I called out "Daphne' and she realized she had forgotten my original request and then could not recall how to play it. All that kept popping in her mind was "Dinah". She asked me to hum some of "Daphne" (which caused my brain to freeze on the spot!). So "Dinah" it was!
Thanks, James. This has led me to find this video, which teaches how to play 'Daphne'. It's very appealing to anyone interested in chord sequences: ua-cam.com/video/jGnv3p7HwGA/v-deo.html
