Eric, I think you will find that Jax is one of a kind. That's why it's so sad that animals like that only live about 15 years. I had a wonderful cat like that. She picked me too. On cold days she used to sleep on my neck to keep us both warm. Her purring used to lull me to sleep. The rest of the year she slept on my flank, a spot she picked out all by herself. When I was at work she'd sleep on the edge of the bed waiting for me. When it was bed time she'd climb in her spot and didn't move until morning. I never found another cat that was a 100th of what she was. When she passed of "old age" I was heart broken. I was so used to her sleeping on my flank that I couldn't sleep without her there. I had to buy some leg weights and put them on my side just to get some much needed sleep by then. She trained me well. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't think of her and never stop missing her. There has been others in the years since her passing, but not a single one could even come close to her!!! So my best advice is enjoy Jax every second you possibly can. Because someday (Hopefully not for many, many, many years!) You will be looking at videos if him and your heart will break all over again. If only they lived as long as we do!!!
I have family that has that same break controller. You are missing a strap to hold it down so it doesn't slide around in the floorboard when going around curves. Also you may want a box or something to put in the floorboard to help take up the empty space in the floorboard to also help keep the break controller from moving around. Second suggestion is to put some rat traps and Just One Bite rat poison in your storage building and house when you leave it for 10 months. They would love to eat all those wires on your bike and all those Christmas's decorations.
Two suggestions for your setup: 1) remove your car mat before placing the brake controller on the floor and 2) make sure your safety cables are crossed. Enjoy!
Love Jax. He's soooo much like last kitty who I had to put down day before my bday. Weighed, at one time, 23 lbs. Got down to 8 lbs. YESSSS, I cried, still not over him. But, I'll get another one someday. Sure won't be the same. Marry Christmas to all of you. Remember what Christmas means. You better hold on to Robert. He is a very knowledgeable person. Glad you got snow. Tc. 🌲
Found this video to be very interesting - I have never concerned myself to the details of towing flat (not currently how we RV), but for what ever reason, I had no idea how much has to go into actually making it work. Impressive - thanks for giving us a glance at it. Might be time to watch you actually use a check list for at least part of your departure!
Eric, If you have not done this already, consider installing a tire pressure monitoring system for the toad, or both, the RV and toad. If you toad has a blowout, you won't feel it and likely won't see it either (ask me how I know). Lol. Having a good tire pressure monitoring system will give you plenty of peace of mind while towing your tater. Safe Travels, John
Eric...don’t know if it’s been mentioned, remove the rubber floor mat. That unit needs to be able to slide freely on the carpet. Crisscross your cables and me personally I wrap the pigtail once around the one towbar arm..just a thought not a sermon. Happy holidays Bud!!
I will tell you a secret on how to make unhooking easey. When you are ready to unhook start the smart car, put it in drive, put just a slight preshure on the towbar. Put it in park. Now when you hit the leavers it will be in a neutral state and the pins will be easy to take out. Also this gives you the benefit that the car will not roll when you disconnect it. One outher tip. When you are hooking up the aux braking system and the car is off. Pump the breaks a few times to dissipate the power breaks. Otherwise you can lock up the breaks the first couple of times the breaks apply.
Hi Eric and Jax Merry Christmas. I have been flat towing for about 17 years now. One thing you might want to look into is getting hitch pin locks for your tow bar and the pins connecting the tow bar to the car. I have a friend who didn't lock everything and after stopping at a rest area had one of the pins fall out of the connection between the car and the tow bar. The car came unhooked on one side and ran into his rig. The car and the motorhome were both damaged and the tow bar was ruined. Some people think it is funny to pull the clip from the pin and let it fall out while you are going down the road.
Merry Christmas, Eric!! Next trip to Walmart pick up a bottle of zinc caplets. I buy 50 mg break them in half and take 25 mg daily year ‘round. I don’t get sick. Neither cold nor flu. If I do feel lousy for more than a day, I take Zicam and that knocks it out. Really works!!! Safe travels, pets and kitty kisses for Jax! Hugs from sunny Arizona 💖😎💖
Your “RV” life has sure changed over the years. One note about the blue ox. From what i have read, they suggest that the tow bar be level to the ground (not sure why). You might want to consider a drop down receiver for your hitch so that it levels out your tow bar.
Years ago I brought home a big bag of Meow Mix for my kitty and laid it on the floor. Samantha found it and scratched and chewed at the Meow Mix bag until she got a corner open then pulled out piece after piece of food. She did all this while her full bowl of Meow Mix was about four feet away! I guess cats want to pick out their own food!
You should hire Robert to be your personal assistant, than he can drive you around in the RV and cook all your meals, do your laundry, fix your slide-out, put on an addition on your house, build you a garage. Lol.
Eric ; While driving down the road if someone ever pulls up along side you and starts honking and pointing to the back, that means that your tow vehicle has a flat and your dragging it. I came upon such an incident and the driver just ignored me. Okay guess what happened,he dragged it till it finally flipped in the middle of 4 lane fwy. Well it damaged his RV rear and caused a pileup of other vehicles. Just a heads up . :-) .
we also flat tow smart car. we found bungee cords on steering wheel prevent the tires from violently turning left and right. the wheel base is too narrow when being towed behind class A.
It's Sunny 🌻 😎 64f degrees in Houston, Tx Sunday afternoon, after 2 days of heavy scattered showers, supposed to get cooler later in the week, but with typical Gulf Coast humidity. 🤠☕🥐🍗
Wow Robert is awesome mechanic, electrical, hydrolics and body man, You were lucky to find him! A friend like that is worth his weight in gold. Merry Christmas Eric!
For the life of me..., I will never understand why people will put mileage on four tires, theyre Not driving, when you can get a flatbed or a toyhauler on two wheels????
RoadMaster does have the Blue Ox connectors for their towbars...you can buy them already setup or buy the connectors and swap out the connectors. That's the setup I use and it works great!!!🤠👍
Thanks to you sir, I now know I can flat tow my 2011 Ford Fiesta (Old Yeller) when the crud is done and I can venture out restrictions free nation wide!! Never thought to check until you showed us your car tow video. Thank you again.
I just came back from Disney world. It was awesome. They are only letting in 35% capacity. No waiting in line really. Great for an introvert like me. My son and I had the best time ever. I showed him the campground you go to. Thanks for the informational video's. They really help out.
I have the same smart car you should put a diffuser and a dual exhaust in the middle they have a lot of great accessories for the car also side skirts. You can even put a little turbo on that engine make it a little quicker
Eric roadmaster makes adaptors that you can change the ends on the tow bar to fit a blue ox base plate. That's what we did. You didn't need to buy another tow bar, just adaptors.
Congratulations on your toad... I just bought myself a Jeep and had it is this shop for a week getting my blue ox system installed. Like you I feel it is the best one on the market. Hope to see you out in Arizona this winter! Merry Christmas Jax’s and you too Eric.... haha
Robert needs to a mechanic consultant... He would make a fortune fixing other people's mistakes and problems.. The price he would charge would be well worth it. Safe travels and happy new year.
We were towing our car behind our Class A when it came loose, flew over to the next lane into oncoming traffic (thank God no one was coming toward us), and flew across the lane and down in a creek. BE CAREFUL!!!
Your front lawn is just amazing!! So sad to see it go down. But, great work. And a small meal with "tiny" beers!! Aren't friends wonderful?? Go Robert!!!! BTW hope ya got a chuckle from my "handle"!!!🎄🎅🤶🎁⛄🕊️🎀😼❄️❄️❄️ How,ho,ho,Merry Christmas!!! To you and yours!!!!
A decent mechanic who is willing to work outside at night....in the winter? Are you kidding me? That’s one hell of a magic trick.
Why aren't you in your home?
What a 🆒 🐱
So right John!

Merry Christmas Eric hope y'all have a good one 👍
The Blue Ox kit is real good> We have towed 2 different Ford Explorers behind our Class A gas motorhome. None of it gave us any problems. Good choice.
Robert is awesome. So glad he was able to fix so many issues. Will he be able to repair your slide?
Tater tot will tow like a dream...I tow a F-350 dually, and it is easy to tow as well.
Awesome guys getting Tot towable! Well done Robert and Eric! Looks very manageable!
It is fun to see you get excited about snow and a white Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and Jax.
Thanks for all the info. No flat tow for me, way to much work!
The minute you get sniffles or scratchy throat take echnichea, like 1200 mg. It works if you take right away. Too late and it doesn't .
LOVED you Frosty shivering in the snow. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Blue Ox is the BEST. No reason to be bummed!
Merry Christmas to you and Jax, Eric! :-) 🎄🎁
Hope you and Jax have a safe and happy holiday! 🎄 ❤👍❤🤗
Yes, Jax is the best! He has such personality, better than some humans!! Merry Christmas Eric!!
Your tow bar is clean and shiny compared to ours.

Cool, you,ll try it and find out.I would use a aluminum Traler,Bring car and bike! Thanks for Sharing and Merry Christmas
Even better,a trail bike!!!!!!
Hey Eric, just an FYI, that light of a car does not require a tow braking system, if I remember correctly it's like 4000-4500 lbs and heavier..
Wow your lights are so pretty👍
You are very lucky to have Robert’s help! I need a Robert here in Michigan! Stay warm and enjoy the snow ❄️
God Bless Robert for all the things he has done for you and Jax, he is a true blessing!!!
