Compare the note that Simone sings at 4:01 to any of her DYU performances from a decade ago. She's shown clear improvements on her mixed voice and is now able to sing that note without having to resort to high larynx, tension, or strain. (Sometimes her younger self straight up yelled that part!) F5 is still a 50/50 note for her, but I think she's on her way to supporting it more often than not. :)
Don't lie about 90%, she is not even losing anything. You may say that her performances are not stable high class in different years and circumstances, but being on and looking latest performances - she is still outstanding and even improving at some things
Andrew Wheeler though I consider Floor the most brilliant female vocalist in metal, there’s no need to compare her to Simone, or anyone else with obvious talent. This song for instance works because it’s written for Simone’s crystal clear, fragile and operatic voice. She absolutely delivers here and throughout the years she became an amazing singer, with an excellent technique. So no, I don’t need Floor in Epica. Simone is such an amazing singer that she doesn’t need to be compared to Floor. She’s wonderful in her own way, and therefore unique.
That’s what I hate with these fans. They keep on comparing every singer to Floor. If a singer is not as technical as Floor, they will always say that ‘this’ singer sucks or too sloppy.
Singing together, yes. They complete each other and have amazing chemistry, but every voice is different and every singer has their technique... So, Simone is perfect for her job and Floor is perfect for hers.
If agree that song is great for Simone... No, I'm not comparing, just the opposite, I want to see a DIFFERENT version of this, just like many bands does... I'm not fanatic, I can appreciate both of them... I like floor too, she's amazing too... Another one that should be very interesting is Tarja Turunen singing a version of it... No sin if we imagine how it could be... That's not offensive...
@@Joshivr Completely agree with you here. While Simone is not most technical or strongest vocalist out there, her's tone is quite unique in metal so many Epica songs won't work well with just stronger or better technical vocals.
