Riding buses makes you a better bus driver, especially if you ride buses that are from a different company than you work for, it's important to never get to far away from knowing what it's like to be a passenger who is relying on transit.

I quit my job as a development director at the company where I worked for 12 years to become a bus driver, my family doesn't seem to fully understand my decision but they support me. Something in me snapped on my 40th birthday and I decided I didn't want to sit behind a desk anymore.

Taking the bus to go drive a bus is kinda like pilots flying as a passenger to go fly a plane (it’s called deadheading. Or commuting, if you don’t live at your base city)

To anyone thinking about driving their personal car to their relief point, very bad idea. Parking may not be beneficial and you still have to bring that bus back into the garage or yard.

When I turn I usually turn when I pass the passenger doors. Some Turks are tight so I put my tire on the other lane, makes people mad but they have to respect you since we do make wider turns and we usually have a sticker on the back saying that. Some turns are tight and some aren’t but when making right turns, in Texas you can have your tire on the lane that’s not used for turning to black other drivers from turning right because they can get inside the turning radius and blind spot causing you to hit them.

We had Orion V's which as I said previously are my favorite bus of all time that I've driven, but in ours out buttons, steering wheel and even mirrors were completely different, we were also high floors so stairway in front, rather than low floor. We mostly operate low floor gilligs now though. On our old Orion V's the lift was rear door as well.
Also plastic seats are the best, you don't want the bus to be too comfortable. :P

    Block 2308 on vouch 2885 at 8:10pm.

Do your buses have phone chargers? My battery is not great so when I started taking public transportation it’s difficult. But I also could understand if maybe it’s a problem if homeless people would just sit on the bus all day charging their phone. But maybe if you had to pay $.10 to charge it for a little bit it could be there if needed without being overly used.
