This brings back memories. My dad used to take my sister and I on the train to London to see family all the time. The completely dismal experience and clapped out rolling stock of British rail in the 90s perfectly captured
Alan you were an incredibly hardy soul filming that day, it looks and sounds horrifically cold! But it makes for an atmospheric video, I'll give you that!
meh not really...from my memories the interiors were filthy, they were often delayed and it was often a mismatch of whatever they had available. Literally everything was done on a shoestring budget.. GNER on the other hand.. that was premier
seeing these old trains brings back both good memories and bad memories though the bad memories are good in a "i lived through it" way. confronting drunken hooligans who were picking on a child grabbing the leader, lazy security staff, all sorts of mixed memories.

@@edharris2395 it's a shame National express replaced them, they were nowhere near as good
Glad you enjoyed. I think the 1st 153s I saw were in Newcastle, when ASLEF had "blacked" the new smaller cabs, so 2 were coupled as if a 155!
Great video wish we could bring back the good old times alan
Great video!!! Unusual movements in Newcastle especially seeing a single car 153 DMU. Liked, and Subscribed :)
that announcer you hear also features in the J & K video production East Coast Main Line Memories 1975-2008
OMG the screaming Valenta 😀. Later on when they took the valenta out of the 125 it was like removing its soul 🙁
Where there a train wash back then lol some of those hsts could of done with a wash very dirty they where indeed
they could, but it had been snowing up there so as was often the case, trains were dirty for a while!
A matter of weeks away from GNER taking over from Intercity

I love the 91s. good to follow in footsteps of hst, Deltic and A4s. shame they'll be replaced by plastic
