This is excellent. I wish I had watched it before preparing and planting my garden this summer. But I will remember to do it in a couple of years when I alternate paths with beds.
Most important takeaway for ALL farmers/gardeners - "PLANTS REMOVE NUTRIENTS FROM SOIL WHEN HARVESTED". This simple concept seems to not be understood by greedy chemical companies. Nature is an ecoSYSTEM. AGRICULTURE as a concept interrupts a natural cycle of growth and decay in place. You have to give back to the soil and to the microbes beneath it if you want it to continue giving. It's about Harmony, not just harvesting.
Very complicated and innefficient. Double digging is a lot of work and not necessary with proper mulching. You can even plant support species which will gather nutrients and provide mulch for you!
The subject of the video is survival gardening, the raised planting beds serve a purpose in keeping rainwater in the soil instead of running off the fields into streams and rivers. This is meant for subsistence farmers living in drought prone regions of the world.
@@generalpurpose772 Yeah but why double dig BEFORE trench composting? If the soil is so badly compacted that this is necesary it's going to be impossible without a jackhammer and a forklift.
This comment most likely by someone who doesn't understand how much work people do in poor parts of the world in order to farm and how much better it is to have results from all that hard work.
I have seen lots of videos on making raised beds. I think that this video is the best one so far.
been doing this for some time, not 100% the same but pretty close, this is the first time I seen it explained in detail, thank you

If you need any other information, please let us know.
This is wonderful. Could it not be enhanced by adding a no-dig component. All that mycelium is destroyed every time the beds are shifted.

That’s a lot of work. Video most likely made by someone who never farmed.
