13 years ago My boyfriend at the time found a baby bird on the sidewalk. It was clearly NOT a fledgling, being almost totally naked and helpless, so we took it home and I proceeded to hand rear it. Around that same time I found this rendition of Lucia Di Lammermoor on UA-cam and would play it often. As the baby bird grew, a miracle in itself because baby birds are notoriously difficult to keep alive, it would tweet and chirp whenever I put this song on as if it was trying to sing along. It really liked it, so I named it Vitas. Turned out Vitas was a Female Cardinal, lol. It was only when her adult feathers and her little cardinal crown came in that we even knew what species she was. I raised her for a few months till we found a local wildlife rescue that would take her. Fun side note: The center didn't believe us when we told them we had a cardinal because the vast majority of what they saw and had were sparrows and they had so many foundling baby sparrows they weren't gonna take anymore in. They only took Vitas because she was in fact a Cardinal and not a sparrow. I did my best to try and teach her how to forage for herself. I even had regularly been visiting the reptile store close to my house to pick up live meal worms and earth worms, etc, for her since the day we found her. But she just didn't want to try and get the food for herself. Nope. She wanted tweazer feedings, like she was use to. There was no way she could be released and I didn't want to put her in a cage, so I found a rescue with a large aviation center for her to be around other birds and have room to fly around.
2021, headed into 2022 on a fast track. He is still awe inspiring. I grew up wanting to sing like Sarah Brightman, eventually found Vitas. He is one of the last "real" voices left. In the world that is now made of autotune, etc.... It breaks my heart.

Why feature a duo of violinists when the orchestra/background is obviously synthesized? Why so much extra reverb on the vocals? Why doesn't his mouth line up with 'a tuoi' in the cadenza at 1:23? And then, when the music picks up, he's clearly singing lyrics, and yet he's in the background. This song creates more questions than it answers!
