I already applied 2 out of 5 things. Spotify in extreme quality is like NIGHT AND DAY!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Ivan Lesca I been with Spotify for a month now and I enjoy it and the music is so clear. I hardly listen to my CDs know
Downloading the song or the playlist helps too
And o... MG! Having a propper eq and crossover made a somewhat "low budget" Car audio system sound A LOT better!!! I can't imagine what will be when I buy the good stuff 😍
I must agree as i have my Spotify settings on extreme...but i believe the extreme quality is still just 320kbps compression, which is still noticeably worse than FLAC or WAV...add to that if you run it over bluetooth its degraded even more...just my observation tho :)
MrShiffles Thats totally true, bluetooth has a big degradation in quality but the benefit is that you have everything in the palm of ypur hand, no need to go to a computer to download new songs. And from normal to extreme there is a big differemce. Now tweeters dont saturate and hurt my ears, especially in the higher volumes. Tho nothing can compare to flac audio and a dsp
Another cheap fix is to just buy a new set of door clips or fasteners any time you need to remove the door card. While you may not actually break them when removing the door, clips do age and become less resilient over time and are prone to minor damage during the removal process and they may not hold as well after the reinstall. Replacing them can often be a good precaution against undesirable rattles from loose panels.
You should also check the inside of your door card for any loose trim, seams, or accessories. If you find any, you can seal them with epoxy putty, or even body filler. Anything that will permanently bond those panels and prevent them from rattling. If those panels need to remain removable, fabric tape on the two mating surfaces can help dramatically to reduce vibration. If you notice vibrations within your door card even after all of that, try putting as large of a piece of butyl rubber deadening material onto the outer skin of your door pocket as will fit. Just stick it to the inside where you won't be able to see it. Those thin outer door pocket skins are prone to picking up resonance and will make the entire door car buzz.
Your videos are always informative. Thanks a lot for the education. Always look forward to new ones.
Mark your channel is awesome! Thanks for these exceptional quality videos with in depth description and knowledge! And budget friendly stuff for us 😎 😂 have a good one!
This is the same stuff I've been trying to teach my son. Thanks for the vid. Good stuff!.
I still would like to know if there is a pattern for that 3d printed wire holder for soldering that you had in your last video. Thanks.
Didn't know i could get higher quality audio files through pandora. Thank you for that.
Thank you... one of the very few videos where i learnt something new!
Great stuff. My only observation here is your suggestion to tape the wire down inside boxes. When doing this it's important to use a good quality tape that can stand elevated temperatures. Most tapes cannot. WHY? Well it'll only take a few summer days in the sun to dry out that tape and before you know it that cable is rattling again! If you can, use mechanical clips or tie wraps with those little screw on bases. Also wrap the cables in a cloth tape (cycle handlebar tape is good).
Cyclone Cyd I use RTV and spot dab a couple to the inside edges.
I can change my fade between -15 to +15. I use -4 to make the sound "bigger", so it has a nice balance where i sit.
When the sound is in front it gets flat in a way i dont like.
the larger terminal is usually positive speakers as well
also a large, old quilt is great for consuming holes and cavities in the trunk/hatch area for a super cheap sound deadening
solution
i would also recommend cleaning your battery terminals and retorque-ing them as well as making sure the grounds are still solid and free of corrosion as a quick and cheap way to potentially help out your system
great video mark
A quick note about streaming, I use Pandora Premium and you can download playlists, albums, stations and really anything else you'd use for offline use. I've downloaded hundreds of songs to my LG V20 and play them back without using any data from my phone plan. Even stations work just as you'd hope offline (thumbs up and down still work perfectly)
Cool video!!! I always fade to front leaving a rear fill and balance right to correct front stage. I use jazz cds mainly and talk.
Another tip is connecting your phone to your head unit using a cable instead of Bluetooth, that’s how you can get the highest quality music , I do this with extreme quality Spotify and the difference is night and day .
Great video. I’m curious on which router/router table set-up you use?
I always wondered how to know if a speaker connector is a positive or a negative, That was super helpful thanks.
Glad that helped you out
You'd actually want to pan the audio to the right to get a center image in the driver seat. Because you're sitting closer to the left speaker its naturally going to sound louder to you. So by making the right speaker louder you shift the image to the center.
Awesome videos man thank you for you're contributions to car audio
Thanks for watching
Hi Mark, love your videos,Could you do a video on hows the best way to eliminate audio noise:buzzing, whining thanks Tye
The best. Awesome info content. Rock on brother.
I changed my settings after watching this. Had no idea on streaming thanks alot.
1% phone battery - living at the limit

If you want to save data (in case your carrier gives you limited high speed internet) use Ymusic, , because you can sign in with your google account and listen music directly from the youtube playlist you made using EDGE, but for that you have to: set up mp3 encoding on libshine for faster loading speed, set the bitrate on 94kb, set the quality on low quality and uncheck "use mobile data" for album artwork and other data. Audio quality is quite great, its not bad at all if you think so, you can only hear the difference if you have lg's quad beat headphones and lenovo phone that uses dolby atmos as its main equaliser
Thanks for the tips mate. Im about to start my little project. Budget DIY install in an old 80 series Landcruiser.
New head unit, 4x new speakers and all wiring. Ill be mounting the speakers in the doors, with a spacer to allow them to fit.
Ill be replacing the door skin's, as they are shot. Ill be making new skins.
Just wondering if you have any recommendations for types of MDF? Thickness etc?
Ill chuck the speaker gasket sealing tape on the speakers, and around the new door skin's.
Cheers
Shane
I'm going to be that random person on UA-cam thats going value your 8 inch Dayton Audio subwoofer and enclosure together at $1,200 lol sorry it just looks to be that expensive. Yes even though you can't put a price on amazing craftsmanship! You definitely do an outstanding job at fabrication. Well hopefully that makes you happy? Keep up the good work with all the audio equipment, sponsorships and training Mark!
Nice and usefull videoes :) Keep up the good work :)
Got an old Chevy I’ve been fighting rattle in for months now. I’m currently down to the finale with the passenger side door on really hummy bass notes.
Love the video and love your 04 and up Pontiac Grand Prix gtp.
Will you please make a video on how to have multiple batteries?
Spotify has a custom EQ it’s nice to fine tune the sound that way, I have a JL audio bass wedge
Spotify on my Android phone does not have a custom EQ it's just the one built-in by Samsung I'm not sure what you're referring to
@@TboneDuggins He’s saying the one on iOS and yes it is great. Samsung Spotify equaliser isn’t that good though
Yeah compress the audio even more than it already is
Old but check out Poweramp EQ for Android! Works even through USB DAC (android auto) and doesn't degrade the sound quality.
One I think you should have pointed out is either putting rubber between the screws and the mounting bracket for your license plate or what I've done in the past is just shoved folded up rag behind the plate. There's nothing that drives me more insane than when someone drives by and you can't even hear their base over their license plate rattling
Forgot to talk about DACs, using a higher quality DAC such as a standalone or one in something like the LG V30 can also improve the sound quality vs using Bluetooth or even an iPhone.
I just bought some Maxwell Ultra Capacitor bank, 3000f per cap, have you ever utilized super Caps?
i'm new at this but i work on cars alot but this guy rocks
Noticed the Audiocontrol t-shirt.
My Audiocontrol preamp equalizer is a nice piece.
Because of your vid and suggestions, I went and D/L my entire music collection as .WAV which is CD lossless and bought a 250GB USB drive. I now play uncompressed music vids in the car. A little distracting I suppose, so I don't D/L every track as vid. The source quality IS the biggest difference you can make.
Im glad you tested with a 1.5/1.2aa battery and not a 9v. Manufacturers use 2.83v to do speaker testing.
Hi Mark, I have a serious question for you. Can you make a video where you say which is better 2x 10 inch subs or a 1x 12 sub? Using the same amplifier
THANK YOU!!!!
Hi Mark. How about a rewiew video about mobile apps. Like different kind of equalizers, audio adjusting tools, Android app called Neutralizer, RTA apps for phones etc.
I wish I knew about the speaker adhesive stuff before, I used Kilmat sound deadening in the speaker adapter that screws in my speaker and on the metal frame of the car to prevent vibration and it works well but damn wish I knew about that before lol
How to adjust rattling door panels on the outside/inside of car? I can find the outside but not the specific location on the inside.
My dad says that replacing the stock door speakers on a '06 volkswagen polo with a pair of Helix P 62C is not worth it, even if I add an amplifier and some sound absorbing material into the doors.
What do you think about it?
And, do they have a good bass that allows me to use them without a subwoofer, at least initially?
hey mark, i had some window gasket laying around for ships, its alot thinker (1cm thick, 3cm wide) i guess as long it seals correctly it's fine but what's your thoughts?
with polarity, i have the factory wiring from my head unit and i used a phone app that reproduced a sound to determine the polarity, and i had really poor bass so i figured it was the polarity, but i still wonder if my rear speakers a set up right as they don't sound like much compared to the front ones, i don't think this app is so precise but how could i know what's what from the head unit itself any ideas, i don't want to invest in a tool i need one time if i can get away with it.
@caraudiofabrication - u didnt highlight using 3.5mm jack to line in, instead of using bluetooth
Interesting, I do all of said things and more, just proves that we are the kind getting the most out of life. In One irock I built, I bought a amp and subwoofer with four speakers and wired them to the amp installed a new head unit. I also made a encloser for the sub myself. For audio stuff I spent $137. My friends spent $1500 to aftermarket upgrade theirs, mine supperseeds theirs in sound quality. They all even asked me to upgrade theirs like mine. Some things in life don't cost money as I've learned but instead intelligence.
Love your videos always tons of good info... Quick question for you. When you install Cross overs do you suggest putting them closer to the speakers or closer to the amps. The only major differences i can see would be Easier accessibility near the amp but much more speaker wire is used.
Corey Van Leeuwen Skip the crossovers that comes with the kit and use the crossovers built in amplifier instead. Usually they're much better.
That is how i had my stock speakers hooked up and i controlled the cross over from the amp forward vs using the head unit but this never had my tweeters running off the amp just the head unit which was fine with stock speakers. Ive recently bought some very nice speakers ( hertz millie pro MPK 163.3) to replace my front speakers and tweeters and i really have a hard time believing that my 120$ sony amp can even remotely compare to a 700$ speaker systems built in cross overs, also there is no way to split the signal from my amp to the mid bass and tweeter unless i used all 4 chan just for the fronts then i would be left with no power for my rears that also require power from the amp (after market matching hertz)
For the length of speaker wire involved, you won't notice any difference. Unless you're using real low end wire and components, then personally I would be as close to speakers as I could. Because the amp will have more pushing power then the xover.
Won't really matter either way. Whatever is easiest for you. Not recommended to put them in the doors though
Lol ok new amp in but when I add a little bass it shuts off my door speakers what can i do to stop this I also have a box connected as well
You should do a video on best car audio speaker and best speakers for low price point. Midrange price and high end speaker.. love videos so much thank you
Always great videos! I bet there's audio shops everywhere that hate your videos for stealing their install fees. Lol
Actually it can go both ways. Many people see how involved true custom fabrication is, and all the resources it requires and decide to have a professional with experience do the work.
Nice carpet job on the box. Looks slick
Anyone else using Tidal High-Fi (MQA) with the DragonFly Red (USB DAC)? I'm thinking of getting a subwoofer though, any advice on a good upgrade?
What is a good download app, for Samsung devices? I am in the Bahamas, so my general music type is Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Hip Hop, some Pop, and R&B.
Stephen Stuart any of them generally have all the music you would expect once the musician is of a decent enough level to post music online. I'm from trinidad. And most artist publish to all platforms apple music, spotify, Deezer, Pandora etc
what do i do if my car doors have 3 pretty big cutouts in the metal frame ?
Off topic, I love your stuff. What do you think of the Chinese head units. They seem to have better chip sets and ram. Most high end signal power is done with amps so I have been considering trying one out.
You mean the android based head units... There is a reason nearly no one with a serious car audio system uses them...
How can I test the polarity coming from the wires in the door?
Wow such a informative video.
Hey buddy how hard is it to put 6x9 in my front doors in my f250 , 2007 it has 6x8 now
If I have 5 by 7 in my door do they make an adapter if you cut the hole a little bigger to put a 6 by 9
polarity for my speakers are negative/reverse from factory shud I change to correct/positive polarity when i replace stock speakers
Hi Mark, please do a video on a sound upgrade on a Ford Ranger Double Cab T6. Thanks all the way from South Africa.
I wonder if stereo install shops do this kind of things or do they charge extra for that? It should be a given that the do that in my opinion
I have the Pontiac gxp as well!!! Absolutely love it!
What has better sound quality? Usb,cd, or streaming? Think I may stick to Usb
More videos like this !!!
YOU HAVE A PIONEER DOUBLE DIN SO DO I CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW YOU HAVE YOU SPEAKER SETTINGS.
Rainesblue84 that's going to be way different for every car and set of speakers
What gauge wire should I use for tweeters and speakes?
Did not know about the pandora shenanigans thank you
Out is in. In is out. Dang it Mark! Some secrets are nice ya know....lol
That tip on spodify was a good idea and i was on cruched down data not bad tip
Nice... But how do I check the polarity of the cables that are coming from the car radio? Do I have to take out the radio to see the iso connectors or is there any easier way?
Polarity test tool is the best choice.
dude i been using pandora for like 10 years never knew about that.
Adam M if you get the premium you get even higher quality. not sure what kbps tho
I just commented about offline mode too. Its awesome! I seriously don't notice any difference except that quality is fantastic and I don't use any mobile data. (I think its a Premium only feature though, but its totally worth it!)
@Marcelo Velarde go on...
instructions unclear, dick stuck in vajayjay
It's design to be inserted in the ass too if you miss it.
Do you screw through the gasketing tape? How do you get a perfect circle? Little pieces
Chase Meyermann its highly flexible.just pull the backing off a little at a time as you press it into the shape you need.its actually really easy to do once you get started.
ah the fab kitchen
My subs are recessed into the box and there super tight so I know there not leaking plus I have the rubber ring on them to.
Quick question. Putting 2 amps in trunk of a car. How important is it to separate speaker wires from power, remote ect ect.?
Very. Especially because 2 amps will potentially have 2x the power running through those wires. Induction is a very real contributor to noise in any system, and although speaker wires are less susceptible than RCAs (because they are higher voltage) they'll still pick some of it up. Note that there are things you can do to minimize this effect such as using twisted pair and/or shielded wires, multi-shielded wires, balanced line drivers, isolation transformers, etc and if they must cross paths, ensuring power/signal wires cross at a 90degree angle (perpendicular).
Is the amp powering the speakers and the sub or what? I want to get two front door speakers and a sub and a head unit the sub is 300 nominal watts and the speakers are like 55 should I run the speakers off the head unit and get a mono amp for the sub or can I get a 4 channel amp and run 2 to the speakers and bundle 2 for the sub in case I want to ad more speakers? I don’t really know what I’m doing lol.
Vaneater Sub and speakers run off different amps.
AudioControl FTMFW!
I installed a four channel amplifier under my passenger seat there are air vents under there if I have the heater on do you think my amplifier will overheat
Thomas Haws lol 4 sure if u actually use it. I have mine in the open and they'll overheat at max in hot days. Installers will limit what you have so its output doesn't overheat it.
I need help with what to choose for a Jeep Wrangler. I dont want to spend 2000 dollars but I do want crisp, mids and highs with punchy bass. My problem
Is it’s an topless Jeep. I was going to go for wakeboard tower speakers but there are to many brands to know whats good quality vs cheap. Please help. I’m a fabricator.
Would having exposed speaker wires reduce my speaker output?
what is the best box design for pioneer TS-W3004D4 subwoofer?
mohammad hanandeh I got mine running in a 2 cubic foot box sounds amazing
Hello please answer me. what is the most quality source of music ? Its bluetooth, or Jack cable or usb, what Can give me the best quality ? And what is better, downloaded high quality music, or from spotify ? Thanks if u answer
also the ground cable is usually the smallest connector
What about using a crossover with stock speakers?
Sure, if you can measure the frequency response and impidence, and calculate a crossover i do not see how it can make things worse since there are rarely any crossovers apart from a capacitor on the tweeter
Don't use BT... the best case scenario is optical or usb streaming (Using loseless sources as tidal, dreezer, etc) it's important to find a head unit that allow at least one of this methods
One of a kind amplifier huh?
I have a Renault Scenic 2 and a weird thing going on. In the Front (Driver Seat) i literally hear no bass but in the Backseats it sounds like there is a Party. Already moved the sound a bit more to the Back and a bit out in the front
It's cause ur gay
@@LingLing1337 people like you are useless trash
Whats a good component setup front and rear doors for a JL AUDIO 300/4 V2 first time upgrading my mids . anyone thanks.
NOE MARTINEZ most people like me choose to just take the money you would spend on rears and get even nicer front components and a good amp for them, this gives you a natural great sounding front stage. I like focal, hertz, morel, and jl c5 components personally.
xNinja83x thank you .i like focal but they a lil over my budget of 350. Hertz any good on sound quality ? I have a 1000 rms on sub
Hi. I just installed Hybrid Audio Technologies imagine I61-2V2. Stock head unit and sound deadening to doors. They sound amazing IMO. Don't need rear speakers. About 300€
Tapio Tukiainen they look nice !
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe currently have a pioneer single DIN head unit RP 2000.1 skar evl dual 10s...
Ofc wire all the way around RCA cables on the opposite side.
it was working very good and all of a sudden I heard a thump and no more Bass.
I adjusted everything checked everything and everything is okay.
the next morning my fuse was melted and I had no bass.I took my truck to a professional audio shop in the guy said my subwoofer is no good.they Are covered under two-year warranty so I ship them back.when I remove them from my truck I noticed a burnt black round circle underneath where the subwoofers were sitting.... I don't know if this has anything to do with my issue but just throwing it out there.... I bought me a new amp in a new subwoofer hoping to rule out a problem and I'm still having the same problem with my vehicle...everything turns on it has volts my RCA cables are working plus the settings on my head unit are set for a working subwoofer.
But I still do not get the power output the amplifier thump AKa the bass I have no bass like if I have no subs at all...idk can someone please help me????
I was always told you want to direct more sound to the opposite side of the car to set the sound stage in the middle of the car
I think he made a mistake there.
It's more complicated than that. You really need a processor to be able to okay with the stage. Just adjusting balance will move all frequencies to that side. So some voices and instruments may shift, but others won't or could do the opposite because of reflections and speaker placement. Cars are terrible listening rooms lol
tcoffin014 processors are a bandaid for a poor quality installation. Totally unneeded of you take the time and get speaker placement and aiming right. Time alignment is great for lazy or shitty installers. Or for the customer that wants a good image and stage but refuses to modify his car and would rather just throw more equipment at the problem.
Christina Hollingsworth haha no not at all. Processors are always needed to get the best possible sound in a car. There is no perfect installation in a car. It's a freaking car. There's glass everywhere, seats in the way, speakers at different distances. Go look up the best installations in history. Or any sound quality competition car. There isn't a single one that's doesn't have a processor. If you're in a house with a sound room, deadened walls, speakers placed perfectly, enclosures designed exactly for those speakers, and everything like that, then yeah there's no need for a processor. But even if you get the best installation possible, adding a processor makes a world of difference. Bring me your perfect sounding car and I'll put one in for free to show you.
tcoffin014 dude they had sq competitions many years before dsp were introduced. And the scores haven't gone up much at all. Dsp is a bandaid for lazy incompetent installers. My car images almost perfectly and my stage is about a foot and a half wider than my a pillars. No dsp. Just custom speaker placement and aiming. The only thing a dsp is useful for is having 31 bands of eq per channel and mot all of them do that. Youre not talking to some rookie here bud. Just the fiberglass materials i have in my ride are probably worth more than your car. Have yet to enter it in any comps but have had experienced competitors listen to it and no e could say anything negative other than it needs to be finished. Once again dsp are bandaids at best. You sound like the kind of kid who thinks class d is the best thing to come along since processed cheese. Throwing extra unneeded equipment at an install isn't the way to.make it sound better. In fact it cam quickly make it sound worse. Any equipment in the signal path from source to speaker has the potential to add unwanted distortion and color your sound. And don't even get me started on the way dsp sum the signal from said source and the phase distortion that causes. An active 3way or higher crossover network is far better way to divide ones signal than that bullshit piece of software.
Can someone help me? If i want speakers to have amp powered, do i need wire from speakers to amp or straight from head unit to amp?
Lenton....IF you're serious. .....
In short, Wire from head unit to amplifier from amplifier to speakers.
What brand is the speaker on the thump nail? 😊
Klaus Nielsen focal
I've never gotten why everyone wants fade set up so sound comes from the front...? I like to tune all my stuff so that it sounds like it's coming from the moliddle of my head... When faded and balanced just right it's like having headphones on and you can't tell WHERE its coming from. That seems to me like the better sounding way. Tried both, never felt right coming from in front
I want to change my door speakers in my 2008 vw Passat but don’t no how to take my door apart to change them
Need to carefully find the separation points on the panels. Usually a fastener will be hidden somewhere. Remove that and viola!
CarAudioFabrication do I need to change the speaker cable or does will the old cable be fine
Hi
When check polarity
Speaker go up mean better?
Nasrul Azran doesn’t matter. As long as all speakers move in the same direction.
It’s actually sad how much time and effort artists, producers and sound engineers put into recording, mixing, mastering a song only to have it get “squashed “ into a super low bit rate MP3.. Thanks for the tips by the way, great video!
Proper 256kbps+ at 44.1kHz is more detail than the human ear can detect, especially with modern encoders (not from the early 2000s). Any defects in the sound stage, channel separation or dynamics are A) placebe, B) coincidence (like erroneous data transfer from the source) or C) faulty/inferior encoders.
Unless you get the Google pixel with uh "unlimited storage" well I suppose you have to have Internet access and well stream everything from the cloud lol
The day i get my spotify premium i instantly put it on extreme mode. Before i go into car audio.
Flac and wav codecs are amazing with 24bit DAC
But still nothing can beat pure analog like an acoustic guitar natural sound :)
I use acoustic guitar with studio true condenser microphone and class A pre and post amps and two high fidelity towers with 4th order linkwitz riley crossover and the sound is absolutely amazing
true the acoustic guitar is awesome
I was under the impression that 24bit was kinda gimmicky until I actually started hearing it
Manjul Walia digital actually has the capacity to soumd far better than analog recording. Now that almost all playback and storage media is digital recording in that format makes more sense than converting from analog to digital. Every time a song is converted from analog to digital or the other way around there is a great potential for losses and distortion to be added in the process. No mater the quality of the dac or adc used the potential is there. Also the bit rate at which digital is recorded can far out perform analog recordings. But there will always be the type of person who thinks that the sound of a tube amp is anything but added harmonic distortion and also swears by analog recordings. That being said class d amplification is going to be the downfall of quality sound. Unless they can figure out the output filter problem.
Hey Bro, great chanel, but ... big but ..... i have instaled new neat speakers to my peuqeot 207 .... but .... but that damn door rattle ... can you make some video about it ?
Check out my videos about "Sound treatment" I have several on my channel that will help you out
