I've been playing LOTRO since launch. While I'm a huge fan of Legendary Items and the concept, it amazes me the system is still so obscure and needlessly tedious.
this system makes me think this game is super casual... if u get some weapon on level50 and that will be the weapon for the rest of the game? the fck, or im misunderstanding ? or its like midgame content, leveling 50-90 or beyond with that legendary until u get something good on raid? im playinf last 3 days atm, was wondering if people even raid in this game.. or if i picked server where people actually do that kind of content, Evernight EU
@@Microphunktv-jb3kj Not sure about Evernight community these days. I did PvMP there at one point ten years ago or so. I'm a Founder resident on Landroval and there are raids running all the time. I think Arkenstone is similar (I PvMP there now). Definitely depends on the server.
I’m so excited I found this. I started working on my LI, shortly after the change, but I took another break from questing and have been crafting and playing festivals so I forgot everything I learned. Now that my second Main is at lvl52, I’m ready to explore LI play again, and I’m so glad I found this resource. Thanks for taking the time to do such a thorough explanation!!
What a great guide, thank you! This will be extremely helpful for my kinmate who's been on a hiatus. Personally I am grateful for the advice on not feeling obligated to max out all traceries constantly. It's especially difficult to do so when you've got multiple toons with LIs. (Sidebar, I can't believe I ever complained about hitting the Ancient Script max ...) There was so much useful info here, I really appreciate all the effort you put into it.
Really helpful and insightful. An excellent overview. My only query is regarding Minstrel LI traceries. You went straight from lore master to rune keeper. Did I miss it somewhere else in the video? Also have you considered breaking the separate class overviews into separate bite size videos or pair them with trait point (blue, red and yellow line) videos for each class? I would welcome more videos on blue lines for different classes. I currently have beorning, minstrel, rune keeper and captain (hint, hint). :) Cracking video as always, thank you!
Well, that's quite embarassing - even after multiple reviews, it looks like I forgot to add the Minstrel clip! I'll work on an addendum video for anyone looking for Minstrel traceries.
One thing I noticed (I haven't seen yet if you go back and mention it): you show dragging the LI onto the Flam icon to open the Legendary Item panel to manage and upgrade it. You can also Shift-Double-Click the item to do the same thing. I find that quicker and easier than dragging the icon onto a target, your mileage may vary.
This is great. A few clarifications please. 1) Whenever I drag my LI to the flame icon, it overwrites the LI I already have open, but you seem to have both open at the same time. How do I do that? 2) I saw in your rewards track that you were scrolling left and right without having to drag the teeny-tiny handle. I can't find a key/mouse combo to do that, can you let me know how? Keep up the great work. You are my GoTo source for LOTRO info and are great for the community. Keep it up!
For 1), you might be seeing that I have the tooltip open for multiple LIs (the h key anchors tooltips). I can still only have 1 LI open. 2) The little dots at the bottom, above the scroll wheel, you can click those to quickly navigate to certain levels!
@@Louey7 Thanks! I'm a little bit farther into the video now and you said that leveling the traceries was wasted as they reset when you replace them. I was under the impression that you were leveling the "slot", not the tracery. Timestamp 25 minute mark. Lotro-wiki: "Item Level increases applied to a Tracery slot remain on the slot even if the Tracery is unslotted. If another Tracery is then slotted in that same slot, it will inherit the upgraded Item Level. " (Repeated at 27:40ish)
Anyone know how his UIs and text are nicely scaled? Mine looks very small, and when I upscaled the UI it look low res.The in-game scaling settings is pretty limited especially the inventory one. Also got any add-on recs?
Noob here Tolkien nerd not a gamer lol how do you get more muster points for the warden? I seem to randomly have a few for lonelands and Rivendell but I want some for other locations to help with travel thank you
Louey7: "You cannot dual-wield legendary weapons." Also Louey7: "I'm gonna put a character in the cover who dual-wields some fancy weapons to confuse newbies."
I came here, because I've been getting legendary xp from festivals and wondered what it was as a new player lol. My level 59 is still questing in the Trollshaws. So maybe I'll get to Moria by 70 or so. I'm doing the story in order the first time. But I need to learn the legendary item system it seems soon. I'm guessing I'll go with a one handed sword first, as I like to dual wield on the champion. Do you use your legendary weapon to max level? Or does it become a costume piece instead? Like in ffxiv our relics are just glam, cuz they don't keep up with new expansions and level cap increases, especially the first ones from ARR.
So you use one weapon from 50 to max, and there is nothing better??? Sorry, im new, and this is kind of a bummer if im understanding the legendary weapons system.
59:17 this needs to be repeated so much no just for LIs. I see so many people say that only one build that works and because it works for that one thing then it works for everything. I build my yellow champion different in solo content and group content. Many things that are good and useful for group content are useless and wasted in solo content. Solo matters with speed and now actually success with landscape difficulty. Same with group, though traits or traceries you'd never pick for solo because you got no use out of them suddenly become autopick for group content. Sorry I'm just annoyed at all these best guides and people who parrot bad advice lol.
Gidday Louey. I ask you this about every few months, still waiting for an answer. Are you ever going to do an updated full run down on the Yellow RK class ever again, or have you totally dissed that character. You haven't said anything about the class for a very long time.
This traceries system and legendary items is so unnecesarely convoluted and counter intuitive. Don't like it at all. Also, it takes the fun of getting rewarded new weapons or forging them. But thanks for the guide
Your best work to date! Somewhere we can point players to that will hopefully reduce their chances to get hit by it's many pitfalls. :) Would rather you didn't refer to the early 115 level first go at it, as arrival into a new range is the optimal time to switch over/invest. Fully maxed ILIs at 116 are still superior to new LIs maxed for some class/builds. Lucky you have another server to go on to show flaming a tracery as your main account fell into that initial over capping AS trap and back to the wall as far as managing it goes. You may want to follow up with the means available to manage AS once you discover it. And the mules required to cover the yearly cycle of a cap rise. It's a pity SSG didn't explain it to us 20 months ago ofc. But then they would be better served following your advice than internal mis-understandings of it all.
totally butchered the pronunciation of Echad Dunnan (Sindarin for "Camp of the West Gate"). "ch" is pronounced like "ch" in the word "loch" (a Scottish word or a lake) and u in Dunnan is pronounced like "u" in "put".
This is an amazing guide - very well done @louey7 thank you so much Edit: Even little details like if you destroyed/lost your flame and where to get it
As a returning player after 10 years off, this all new legendary system makes my head hurt 😩
This is basically like required viewing as a returning player. Thank you!!
Same here!

Perfect timing. I just resubbed to game after a long time away and just got my LI so thank you!

Turns out I technically had this from my Minstrel but a) forgot and b) playing the Burg I at least had this in mind already!

Does doing the side misions on the way to doing volume 2 waste the "legendary item experience" thay the quests say they give?
Those quests granting LI XP is a bit of an artifact of an old version of the system, so not really. Even if it did, it's an overall minor amount!
Hats off buddy hats off

So what do I do with my old classic LIs after extracting the scripts from them? just destroy them?
Destroy or keep if you like. Can use for cosmetic, too!
@@Louey7 thanks Louie!

when will the loremaster revamp be released? I litterly only play it or being Blue line and being solo. I have no need for yellow or red
