    My grandmother was famous for her lefse. She taught my cousin and my cousin taught me. I still have a beautiful rosemaled lefse stick that I bought at Vesterheim 30 years ago.

    I have a grandma just like this, I used to make lefse with her when I was a kid, she's awesome:) She used to put jam and sugar on and roll and cut them into little finger snacks, great for a kid on the go. I have her recipe written on a cue card somewhere. Unfortunately she lives far away, so my wife can't learn how to make it for me lol. Enter this video. Thank you!!

    I wish she would of had a recipe with how much of each ingredients we should use but I'll try it.

      Try it, you’ll have fun making it. You don’t need an actual recipe. It’s kind of instinctive. Add your flour slowly and only add as much as needed to hold everything together.

    Why is the rolling pin have cloth on it?
    Is that why mine didn't turn out?

    • @JaymesGrossman
      @JaymesGrossman  4 роки тому +1

      The cloth holds flour, which prevents the lefse from sticking to the roller while you're rolling it out.

    Real lefse is NOT made with Crisco, it's made with BUTTER.

      My Sons of Norway lodge has been making lefse for over 100 years. We follow Norwegian tradition and use butter. BTW, when you eat lefse do you put margarine on it?

      Actually, REAL lefse is made with lard. Butter + Crisco is a nice alternative. You've been missing out a long time if you just use butter.

      Tyler Raad actually there are hundreds of recipes... All claiming to be the original.... Most important thing is sticking to family tradition. Because in my case we make the best..... Lol

      Yeah, my mom & my grandpa always used lard in their lefse and my grandpa was from Sweden. Maybe it's a regional thing. Plus my mom would just use an iron skillet with a spatula. Nothing fancy and it always turned out awesome. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

    Video is useless without a recipe.
