    Great video man, I can’t believe you did this in your garage without a lift. 😮 kudos to you
    Anyways, here are some questions for you 😎
    Why did you remove the air filter and filter cover? 😅
    Why didn’t you use orange coolant?
    Where’s the white cover that sits on top of the safety hybrids battery plug?
    How the heck did the transmission get full with 4.5 quarts 😮, last one we did was on a C Max it took 7 quarts
    Again, great video. I suggest programming the new trans in, some people say the TCM will kill the new trans faster than usual if you don’t vin match it (program it)

    • @NiXFiX

      Anas, excellent comment! Thank you. Here are your answers:
      I removed the air filter and cover because the Ford instructions said to. Also, it made for a clearer video in some cases. I didn’t use orange coolant because manufactures, in my opinion, try to coax (actually, scare) their customers into buying their coolant. Ethylene glycol is a colorless and clear chemical. It is dyed certain colors by different manufactures, but its heat removal properties and resistance to freezing remain the same. I use wal-mart super-tech or Prestone coolant. They say “all makes, all models, foreign or domestic” and they are not wrong. I don’t know exactly what you mean by white cover over the safety hybrids battery plug, but if you mean the cover over the hybrid battery disable connection, I have the formed felt cover (I just didn’t feel the need to show it in the video). Ford says the transmission takes 4 quarts for a drain and fill. Thanks for the info on resetting adaptations (programming) the new transmission in. I will take that under advisement. Remember, adaptations are just that. Eventually the computer will learn new values (no matter the make or model). Thanks again!

    • @AFouad92
      @AFouad92 Рік тому +1

      @@NiXFiX oh yeah we use prestone orange coolant and supertech pink for the Toyotas
      Theres a white colored cover right on top of the orange one,
      As for programming, it’s different than adaptation. If this was a brand new transmission you wouldn’t even be able to drive the car without vin matching it, but because it’s used you were able to drive it. All the modules in the car need to be matched to the same vin to work with each other properly. It might not be necessary, but Ford recommends it. Again, great job 👏

      Ford does not make the orange coolant anymore, it got superseded with the yellow motorcraft stuff and is even OK to mix with the orange one. There is a bulletin for that out there..

    Thanks so much for this 2 part series! I have a 13 Cmax hybrid that is now making a loud whining when only the generator and ICE are working. It's dead silent in EV mode. I'm glad to see I can hopefully drop the trans out the bottom without pulling the motor with it. Is the front subframe and the actual room to get the trans out the same in a Cmax vs the Fusion?

    • @NiXFiX
      @NiXFiX  Рік тому +2

      You can find transmissions on www.car-part.com (which is a nationwide search of salvage yards). You can also use eBay. The transmission I bought was on eBay and showed up to my door for ~$2,500. I often search "needs" or "mechanic special" under cars and trucks for sale on websites (eBay, Criagslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc.) to find cars that need work.

      @@user-cd7cl2tb1c I haven't gotten around to repairing it yet. But I wouldn't buy that car, if I was you. If you do buy it, make sure you have the purchase price reduced by thousands of dollars. It's quite expensive to even buy a salvage transmission, let alone the labor to have it installed. And who knows how long a salvage transmission will last.

    Good evening. Thanks for the video lessons. Can you please tell me the difference between the automatic transmission between the 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Ford Fusion Energy Plug-in of the same year? Or are they the same and go against each other?

      I explain the differences between the hybrid and the energi in the first few minutes of part 2. The final drive ratios are slightly different between the two and the energi has an auxiliary fluid pump to keep fluid pumping when the engine is off.

    Fantastic work! Thanks for documenting the process. Looks like a lot of work, but I love my little C-Max enough that I might actually try it. I'm in the "loud" phase. Wondering how long I have until it grenades? Mine is loud at idle in park. No sound when driving on electric and it seems to go away after 15mph. Any sense for what that might be? Torque converter bearing?

    • @NiXFiX
      @NiXFiX  Рік тому +2

      Thank you. There is not torque converter in this transmission. But, the noise you hear is definitely a bearing. There are bearing replacement parts. It might be worth you replacing the bearings before the whole trans goes?

    I'm trying to locate a repair manual for my 2017 Fusion hybrid SE. There doesn't seem to be a specific one for hybrid cars. The Haynes manual looks like it covers a wide range of years, including 2017, but it excludes anything specific to hybrids, so I'm not sure the transmission removal part would be useful to me in that manual. On rockauto, they seem to have a transmission specific repair manual for Ford automatic transmissions (Haynes Techbook: Ford Automatic Transmission Overhaul), but again, probably not specific for the hybrid car. Can anyone tell me if either of these two manuals would still be helpful with removing my transmission and overhauling it? Or, are there any better manuals to look for?

    Hi, I had the same problem as you with my 2014 Fusion Energi and I replaced all the damaged parts and bearings inside the transmission because I did not have access to buy a new transmission. In my case, the change of parts did not work, the sound of the transmission is very loud and although it does not show any error, the sound tells me that something is not right. I am writing to you to ask if you did something special when you installed the transmission, especially related to the transmission oil pump, bleeding it or something that I did not do that could be causing the sound?
