    Ryan playing with the magnets in the tripods like a cat with a laser pointer is one of my favorite moments from the podcast to date. 1:12:50

    Ryan- shooting sticks are super helpful. Especially for those hunts where 100 yard+ shots are common. In 2022 I went on my first western hunt and shot a 5x6 whitetail ( on public land even) with a tikka T3X super light in 308 and shooting sticks in a similar position you described on your pronghorn. I didn’t even need to deploy the ramrod for the second shot, he flopped over instantly. A touch over 300 yards- long ways for a Midwest boy who is used to shooting 50-100 yards. Thank you guys for these reviews and podcasts

    Great job guys. Full of useful info and entertainment !! I'm slightly disappointed that you weren't able to get around to the importance of a medium caliber lever action always being a part of your equipment and more specifically, one chambered in the venerable .358win. However, I am really looking forward to the long awaited Cartridge Talk on said caliber. Especially hearing the Muckepedia provided stats and info. 😀😁😊. Good talk.

    I bought a Garmin Xero this past year. I am wanting to use it for reloading but found it extremely handy for getting my actual velocities for me to plug into a calculator for shooting longer ranges.

      I got one this year as well. Its literally the best purchase I have ever made. It just flat out works. Simple, easy, and just does what its supposed to do.
      Always syncs, easy to startup, and just flat out always works. Has never missed a shot or even given me a worry about accuracy.
      Just flat out the best chrono made ever. Period.

    This podcast has inspired me to try out my Garmin Xero on my son's Red Rider BB gun and my Benjamin pellet gun. I have always wondered what their velocity was.
    The Garmin Xero is the best reloading tool I have ever bought.

    For Ryan and anyone else who ends up reading this. 1. The Garmin really is worth every penny. 2. On Amazon there are some nice tempered glass screen protectors for cheap. Cheap insurance for your device like we do on our phones. $20 or $30 for 3 pieces of glass in the kit i bought

    Three chronys over 30 years and the Garmin Xero is easily the best and easiest ever. 100% worth the spend. My Blaser Success stock is perfect, love the stock and makes shooting so much better due to fitment. Quad sticks are what I have found to be the fastest to get into and the most accurate to 400m.

    My wife got me the Garmin xero for Christmas because I shot suppressed and the labradar you had to have the external microphone and I just didn’t wanna have to deal with that when the Garmin you can just turn on setup and shoot and i absolutely love it xero complaints with it because of it I was able to get all my velocities with my suppressor with all my rifles so I could get my cds dials ordered

    Patiently waiting for climbing platforms to really take off. I can't be convinced that's not the ultimate high speed/low drag system, which is basically the point of saddle hunting.

    • @danhoff4401
      @danhoff4401 7 годин тому

      I used a LW hand climber seat for several years as a climbing platform. The new ones that cam over are significantly better than what I was using in terms of side pressure. Something like the panther quick climb is a fairly mature design. They will get it closer to 4 lbs eventually but there isn't that much you can do with it.
      High speed/ low drag in the saddle world is rope climbing and a ring of steps. Steeper learning curve but you can't beat the weight savings. Anyone using a 4+ lb platform is not low drag.

    • @joshuadaugherty8865
      @joshuadaugherty8865 Годину тому

      @ I currently two tether climb and don’t use a platform. I have a strap with some foot loops. It’s not fast at all. The climbing platforms will end up being the best balance of efficiency, speed, and weight. If you take it as far as anyone with a platform isn’t high speed/low drag, then the ultimate is anyone carrying more than their clothes and their weapon isn’t high speed/low drag.

    Hey Gents. Great video as always. I bought a Savage 110 with the Accufit stock. I thought the adjustable comb height was going to be super awesome, but it's not that great when you need to run a cleaning rod down the barrel. It's doable, just a big pain in the neck. I really like the Kalix riser but as far as I can tell they don't offer it for Savage rifles with the Accufit stock. Short of putting a new stock on the gun do you have any suggestions. Thanks guys.

    NEWBIES, VERY IMPORTANT!
    When decending down the tree, remember to give plenty of slack if you place your first stick that high up. You will regret it by taking a step to the face as you step down. That is something he failed to mention.

    • @danhoff4401
      @danhoff4401 7 годин тому

      Yeah that's eyeball height. You can get about 6' out of the first one and then 4' out of the second two so that puts your feet at 14' ish which is normal ladder stand height. If you want 20'+ you need 3 sticks with 3 step aiders. I have a set of latitude carbons that I can get 20' to my feet.

    Did these guys pretend that LabRadar isn’t a thing? I’ve been using that for many years and it solved (many years ago) the same problems the Xero does, except its larger and less convenient, but really weird they pretended that this lidar tech was some major game changer.

  • @christianfreiburger1002

    Idk Ryan. Why would I spend $150 dollars on a cheek rest, you could spend that little on a whole new stock, and even if it cost $300, I contend the extra money would be better spent. Either spend $40 on a cheek riser as a half measure, or just replace with a better fitting, or adjustable stock or chassis.

    • @salmatosjr5285
      @salmatosjr5285 День тому +2

      A $150 stock as described will probably be garbage. The cheek rest is a great option. Don't get me wrong if you have a high $$ rifle then a new stock of high quality is worth it. In my case the kydex cheek piece can usually go on multiple rifles.

    • @christianfreiburger1002
      @christianfreiburger1002 День тому

      @ It’s just an overpriced product sir. Sorry if you got ripped off. You could just use a piece of foam and tape if you don’t mind an ugly $10 ghetto upgrade, or you could buy a $50 Hornady style cheek riser without modifying the stock, or you could buy an Outlier chassis right now for the same $150 instead of having an overpriced cheek riser sitting on a crap factory starter stock, or you could spend $300 or so on a custom Boyd’s gunstock, Magpul hunter, or other brand chassis…while more expensive, these options seem both a better value and better performance overall for your money. IMO of course.

    • @RealHankShill
      @RealHankShill 21 годину тому

      I would say any stock worth buying, and I replace nearly every stock ever on a factory rifle, is gonna be $500-700 to start...
      A factory stock would have to be pretty nice for me to add any aftermarket riser, which has actually happened before. But only once.
      Generally speaking if I buy a factory rifle in a cheap stock, I am doing so probably just for the action, perhaps the barrel too, but I am going to replace the stock anyway.

    • @christianfreiburger1002
      @christianfreiburger1002 9 годин тому

      @@RealHankShill Apparently that Outlier Chassis is more expensive than advertised, so $150 isn’t the starting point. I think you can get a reasonable quality stock for $300-$400 dollars still though...and I still think a $150 cheek riser is an expensive half measure in most cases. I’m sure it’s a quality product, but not for me, besides the pricing I’d be nervous mangling a nice wood stock to accommodate it.
