There are some notes that are more polarizing than others, so if your not familiar with what accords you like and don't like, then you are better off getting decants. but once you know what notes you like and dislike, you can basically stay away from them. Most common polarizing notes/accords Iris/Orris root powdery, Tobacco . there are variations on this, some smell like cherry pipe tobacco, others smell like plain leaf. Sweet/Amber/Sugar/Honey/Tonka Bean. Some people do not like sweet fragrances, personally me likes. Floral, this one is tough, Some flowers are more polarizing, Neroli, Rose, Jasmine, Tuberose. so on. some men like florals, others don't. Vetiver Now this is one, that I have had a love hate relationship with, I like it in some frags, and in others I don't. Oud. oud is tossed around in the fragrance industry, some frags have oud in the name, and have no oud smell at all. and there is a huge spectrum of oud from super mild woody accent, to skanky animalistic oud that will slap you in the face and knock you out , personally I love it, I plan on getting a small decant of authentic pure oud, to layer with. I smelled woman wearing something with oud, and it smells great, I believe its very unisex. middle Easter perfumes, often combine it with powdery rose, and something sweet. for example Oud Bouquet. Leather. Another one, that has a large spectrum, from soft suede, or new car leather, to horse saddle leather. I prefer soft suede. violet and saffron together kind of mimic leather. And one could go on and on, some people like gourmand other think smelling like chocolate or almonds etc is nuts. lucky for me (but not my wallet) I like most notes.
I think Layton is overhyped. It's nice, no question. But it doesn't wow me considering how expensive it is. If someone "gave" me a bottle, I'd be happy, but I'll never buy it. Projection and longevity for me was very minimal, unfortunately. Chalk it up to my body chemistry.
I disagree about Green Irish Tweed, because while expensive, it is almost the definition of mass appealing while also remaining sophisticated. It's one of the pillars of men's fragrance. That said, there are $20 fragrances that smell very similar, and those can be a good option to try first before you get the higher quality option. Also, fun aside, I wore both Green Irish Tweed and Dior Homme Original this week, good scents.
Another very wise choice of perfumes, Willow! - I can absolutely agree that the fragrances presented are popular, but should not be bought blindly: -) For example, I wouldn't want to wear Layton and DH(I), but rather consider them women's fragrances. -) I had GIT once and it was too dry and herbaceous for me. However, I definitely appreciate a "clone" of it, which turns out sufficiently different. -) I can't understand the hype about BR540 because it smells like cotton candy (with latex). However, I don't detest this type of scent, it just doesn't appeal to me. Thank you for the insightful videos, Willow! Your elegant, extraordinary style and your thoughtful, profound manner are admirable and examplary. I predict a steep increase in the number of followers.
I agree with all of those. Niche/expensive fragrances seem to be almost always too mature which is a double-edge sword. I think these ones are 100% safe to blind buy: 1. Azzaro the most wanted (black bottle). 2. Montblanc legend spirit 3. Ysl Y edp 4. D&G the one edp 5. Valentiono uomo born in roma 6. Hugo boss unlimited (white bottle)

I agree with what another poster here about Green Irish Tweed. Yes it can be pricey, but far from being unsafe to blind buy.

I like Cool Water better than GIT. Legit smells like a better GIT to my nose.
In general how many fragrances do you have
Sure you look absolutely gorgeous in Dark Navy Blue!!

I'm always cautious with fragrances that have strong sweet notes like Layton or Dior Homme, since they can easily be a hit or miss.
Your hair is perfecto 👌
Hi willow schafer very cologne good is puf de marly harod
Great video! I do fragrance reviews too!
All these frags are quintessentially French, and (I think) can be easily pulled off if you're wearing a suit and tie.
LMAO everyone of the frags are perfect blind buys, if you can afford it you will not be let down by any of them!
Absolutely agree with you.. What fragrance planet is she on.. 😂
Not to be rude but you should fix the thumbnail to Safe not Save

BR540 clear is for woman…
BR540 Red is for men…
I disagree, they are both unisex. It all comes down to marketing. I've worn women's fragrances in the past and sometimes still do.
