I'm a programming college student and i bought this laptop around 5 months ago cuz my old one was already hitting its limit. I bought the one with 32G ram and so far... i'm freacking LOVING the experience. I needed a really powerful laptop that could withstand the simultanous sometimes heavy programs i run and that i could sometimes game in or do some 3d modeling with in case i wanted to try. Basically smth that would give me more freedom and that i could use for work after i graduate college in a year. I also needed the laptop to be slim so that i can bring with me anywhere without having to lift weights. Surprisingly, asus managed to get all the checks on my list (which i didn't thin it d be possible i was sure i ll have to sacrifice a requirement) with the Asus Rog Flow x13. Altho a bit expensive (dad cried a bit lmao), but it's a very very good investment. Here's some remarks regarding my experience so far: - First with the material, altho u can easily leave fingerprints, u can just easily wipe them off. I use a small soft fabric same type i use to clean my glasses with -You log in with your fingerprint. That made me feel special and almost confessed to asus lmao -touch screen surface is not as smooth as a tablet or phone finger traces are easily left on screen but still pretty smooth for a 2 in 1. But thing is they're only visible after u turn off screen. While computer is on u won't notice a thing on the screen -i worked a couple of times with a window behind me but i could still work comfortably without having to mind the light behind me. I have a bit of weak eyesight so this is was a huge *niiiice* from me -as you mentioned, touchpad is smooth af and keyboard is just really satisfying. You can control the beat of the keyboard's lighting which reminds u it s also a gaming laptop, smth to flex about haha -for fan there s a difference on whether it's linked to the sector or not: if you're using it without sector on silent mode, u won't even hear a thing unless you're doing smth that requires effort ofc. But even then, suppose i'm playing, the fan noise isn't very loud. However, once it's linked to a sector i noticed that the fan starts working sooner than in no sector mode, which ig is understandable since the pc is charging so it'll heat up faster. If i m to give an exemple, for the same game, in no sector mode u ll have fans running at around 20db while in sector mode it ll be around db (sounds flictuates as they turn off once it s cool or restart when it sgets hot which is cool) -for temperature, the highest i got to was 35db and fans were pretty loud but not as loud as a desktop computer, i was just surprised cuz i never heard fans that loud from a laptop. I noticed that despite the fans being on the side, the laptop heats up faster if it s directly on the desk surface, so i tried lifing it up a bit by putting my wallet or the small pc bag just a bit under the screen and it heats slower. It's a bit of a con but it makes typing and looking at screen a bit easier for me since I would lift it a bit like that even without that con (i used to do same with my old laptop). For best temparture performance, i recommend using the laptop in tent mode. You can either use a wireless mouse n keyboard and the asus as a screen or use it with a dock station. I made a small set in my room (same day i bought the laptop) with a 27' screen, a dell dock station (i didn't buy the external gpu cuz i don't really need it, and it's really expensive XD) a gaming mouse and a wirelsee keyboard. I use the laptop to enjoy a dual display. When i'm working home and i have smth that's heavy , meaning fast heating up and fans, i switch to tent mode. Even with sector linked, the cooling is really awesome and fans aren't very loud and pc doesn't heat up easily since it s getting cooled down from all sides. and it's a nice dual display experience. -for battery life, depending on how you set up ur laptop, it can go from 2h to around 6h. And it charges really fast you'd think it's a phone haha. When i just bought the laptop the battery would last around 2h cuz i didn't know how configure the life saving n stuff. Now it lasts around 5h i smh managed to fix it last month idk how. -for the crate app, i just really like it it's always open on my laptop so i keep track of the temperature and the cpu / memory usage. I haven't yet gotten to 100% in memory even with multiple servers running and cpu never even reached 50%. For the me who went from 265storage 8ram to 1T 32g ram this was a fucking huge jump ngl i'm still not used to it, another reason why armorate crate is alwyas open 😅 Currently this is all i could think off as i was really just passing by XD but liked the video. I've being getting used to having a powerful computer these 5 months and believe me it s definitly not a regratable decision. And when i think about it, havig a slim laptop but with such criterias on top of being a gaming laptop (don't even get me started ryzen and rtx) with this price compared to the other computers on the market, makes you believe that asus just pulled a very pog chad move.
You got them all, Andrew!! I heard that thanks to its ryzen 6000 proc its able to run up to 10-11 hours in low energy mode. It would be fantastic if you could check on that for the review! Thanks for all this great videos!
Excellent first look and unboxing Andrew. For a 720p webcam, it's a little soft but better than most. The internal mic is not too bad as well. It's nice and clear. I love Asus laptops because I believe the company to be very innovative. I currently have the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 GU603 gaming laptop with the Intel 11th Gen Core i9 processor, 16GB RAM memory, Nvidia RTX 3060 and 1TB SSD from 2021 and I just love how very fast it is! Thank you once again Andrew for your Awesome review!! 👍😁
Another excellent unboxing and first look, Andrew, thank you, as always. The audio and video were very good to excellent, for a 720p webcam. It is a gaming laptop. Look forward to the full review.
@@andrewmarcdavid Appreciate your insightful reviews, Andrew. Though I'm not a gamer, I'm looking to retire my portable cpu of the past 6 years, a Surface Pro 7 i7(u6550). With 2 cores, it now overheats simply from using Zoom and having a browser with a recording app on. For something that can handle audio and video editing but keeps cool (I also often work outdoors) and quiet, would you say the 2022 X13, Z13, or G14 is the way to go? Thank you in advance.

Love the superb u boxing and in-depth 1st look. Although this is considered as gaming laptop, this can be your daily driver as an Ultrabook and you'll get a far more powerful and capable device than traditional 2-in-1 Ultrabooks like XPS. The price is not that different from the higher tier XPS 13 devices but performance wise, even the last year's model can beat that, while still giving comparable battery life. I would like you to explore the daily usage scenario of this laptop, apart from gaming, in your full review.
Nice PC. Webcam picture was very good and clear for a 720p Webcam. Image movement was smooth, not jittery. Microphones sounded good and clear. No muffled sound. Users should be aware that this unit only has one functional USB-C port when plugged in. Display was very good. Great "First Looks" review.

Have you seen the ports on the GPD Win Max 2? It not only has all the ports you could want, but even dual card slots, both micro and full size SD. And it’s smaller than the X13. I will not give laptop manufacturers a pass on poor port selection, and I don’t believe it’s always because they can’t fit. They also are often very slow to listen to what users need and want. Otherwise, another beautifully done video from Andrew Marc David. Also, before anyone gets angry with me, I think the X13 is great and would consider getting one.
GPD Win Max 2 is much thicker than the X13. Thickness is a big factor in port availability. The X13 also has the XGm port which is unique for the market. Sure, the X13 could use some more ports, but let's be fair with how we compare it with other models.

Great Review! I'm really considering this laptop because of it's form factor and because it has an rtx card inside. Also the improvement of battery life from last year's model is what is attracting me the most to this laptop. That and that gorgeous display of 500 nits. I have a 2021 version. The feel of the touchpad is amazing, best of any touchpad i've used. The build quality is great. But the battery life is abysmal. This thing eats batteries for lunch.

Why Asus rog flow x16 with Nebula HDR display RTX3079 vs bestbuy similar product with IPS display RTX3060 has so much price difference? First 2549 compared to 1749? Will I compromise features if I buy 1749$ one?
I ended up cancelling my Book2 preorder (it got delayed 2 months!) and went with this. Its a beefier machine, I think, and has a much better screen ratio. Only real negatives are the response time on the display (its in the 20s) and the pen uses MPP 2.0. The response time is pretty bad and pretty much cancels out the 120 hx refresh rate in games. If you game on this, use the display out. The pen is very wobbly in diagonals. That can be slightly rectified with Lazy Nezumi Pro (an anti wobble app) but only with some apps (not OneNote, for example). For productivity, its probably the best in this form factor out right now. The Lenovo 9i might compete with it but I feel the AMD chipset is better for a 2 in 1 and the Lenovo STILL isn't out (just the 8gb one).
I met with Lenovo last week and they told me the Yoga 9i 4k should be available any day now. We will see. I do think you made an overall good choice in the ROG Flow X13.
@Andrew Marc David any chance the definitive review will come anytime soon? because I am waiting for my buying decicion in comparrison to the older generation x13
Would it be possible to measure DPC latency with like LatencyMon? For audio/video applications it would be very useful to know (the X13 2021 version had a high DPC latency and wasn't great for that apparently)
I was going to get the m2 mac air but after i saw this, i immediately cancelled my m2 and went ahead and ordered one of these bad boys with same spec for 1399$ on discount.
Hello, would you recommend this laptop or the G14 for a person going into college with hopes of using a laptop for everything from notetaking to having it docked? I will also say my main focus will be programming but dabbling with graphic design in college. The touchscreen is tempting, but I feel like investing into the long term use of the X13 is a bad idea, due to the sautered RAM, which could limit it even with an external GPU.
Me too still waiting for a product to give best drawing experience on photoshop and do gaming similar stuff doesn't give gaming experience except maybe HP 360 which I am not familiar. To my knowledge there exists no premium metal looking laptop for both gaming and note taking
@@neetchan6631 you might the video from hardware canucks. They make the comparison between the new and the old one. Performance wise no significant difference. Battery life on the new one is better and the display is brighter

I'm debating between this and the 2022 Zephyrus, the only difference between the two being size and GPU. I use my desktop for my workstation stuff and just need something to take with me to do some light solidworks modeling on. Of course it will also get used for gaming occasionally. Does anyone have any thoughts on the 3050ti vs the 6700s for solid modeling on the go?
Have you bought if yes then please tell will it be good for normal gaming and video editing and trading purposes and how can i get the most out of the battery@@frankspace34
Was waiting for some one to say this. 25ms is unacceptable at this price point. I have last years FHD screen with 120hz. Input delay coupled with ghosting makes this terrible for fps
Damn love it besides the ghosting. Got last year's model. $985 open box best buy yesterday. Ghosting on rocket league and doom eternal was horrible. Games ran and looked good until u move
I purchased this laptop and it fell apart and asus did keep the warranty nor did best buy. This laptop was sold as a lie saying all you needed was a 3080 graphics card but in reality it's a seprate unit just as expensive as the pc. They refuse to honor there agreement and now I can't stream my games and am totally screwed out of 1500 dollars. Total nightmare..
Is it worth buying dell xps 15, rtx 3050ti, i7, 11 th gen for about usd 1700 rather than this one?
When there will be a battery test published?
hi, any updates on its battery life? i am wondering if it holds up to 12 to 16 hour claim or not.
Idk which one to get. This or the flow z13? They seem the same aside from the detachable keyboard.
I have the Z13 coming
Depends on which form factor you prefer - A laptop or tablet?
They are both very good.
I love tablets and have the Z13.
I don't see how a 720p cam is regarded as decent in 2022...and no micro SD card slot and headphone jack too
They raised the price 200 dollars. Now it's 1800, so annoying
when can we expect the full review ?
What is the OS you have on it? It doesn't look like windows altho it has the windows icon
@Andrew Marc David any chance the definitive review will come anytime soon? because I am waiting for my buying decicion in comparrison to the older generation x13
so, does it has USB4? does it support eGPU?
edit: eGPU on usb4 not that asus specific adapter
As much I love convertibles. I cannot deal with the tiny arrow keys.
Would it be possible to measure DPC latency with like LatencyMon? For audio/video applications it would be very useful to know (the X13 2021 version had a high DPC latency and wasn't great for that apparently)
Amazing review! Are you going to make an update on this?
Yes
Thank you for the review however it’s a bit more helpful when you’ve had the chance to game on a gaming laptop and perform these benchmarks
I was going to get the m2 mac air but after i saw this, i immediately cancelled my m2 and went ahead and ordered one of these bad boys with same spec for 1399$ on discount.
how is it so far
its already nebula display?
what about the battery?
Considering this laptop now. My surface pro cannot handle large pdf file now. Well it's the Core i5 type, so understandable
intel is always suck, that's why I prefer AMD for x86 and M1 for Arm
Which is better the z3 with the rtx 3050ti or this model?
Z13 tablet I mean.
To my knowledge there exists no premium metal looking laptop for both gaming and note taking
any solid update on the battery life, everyone ?
how to tell the difference between 2021 and 2022 version? I love this laptops, but I NEVER HAVE A SMALL LAPTOP before. a little surprised
into consideration between the small screen and the habit of using the big one
I think you can check the processor type. 2022 modeI has 6900 AMD
@@gbagaskoro2 then i will check if it will enter in my country. in Indonesia most products will be late or will not arrive
@@neetchan6631 you might the video from hardware canucks. They make the comparison between the new and the old one. Performance wise no significant difference. Battery life on the new one is better and the display is brighter
16GB RAM NO UP Grade ??
have they released usb 4 update yet?
Looking for this answer too!
Does it have a webcam shutter?
in my country asus not sale ROG Flow on 3050Ti on Ryzen 9 6900HS type... so sad
If it was usa price i would buy it in europe it still cost 2800 euros LOL its everything i want in a laptop in that form factor but 2800 euros crazy.
I may get this and cancel my steam deck.
no pen?
Is this a good buy in 2024?
I have one, buy this little guy in August 2023, I squeeze its full potential into design, video and occasionally video games. I will only say that it was worth every penny, I have the video configuration but with a 16gb ddr4 ram and 1 tb ssd, and after 1 year of use, it is still an absolute beast!, yes, it heats up just like hell 😮💨 but I have never had failures due to the heating
too bad you don't have the 32gb ram version
Please review asus zenbook flip 14 2022 ryzen edition.
Is this metal built ???
No but the build is very very premium
Have you bought if yes then please tell will it be good for normal gaming and video editing and trading purposes and how can i get the most out of the battery@@frankspace34
Dang still 25ms on the screen :(
Was waiting for some one to say this.
When will this be available
Available at Best Buy see link in video description
Unreliable i bought the 2021 Model and it failed within months needing a warranty repair. I won't buy Asus again.
what happen?
I purchased this laptop and it fell apart and asus did keep the warranty nor did best buy. This laptop was sold as a lie saying all you needed was a 3080 graphics card but in reality it's a seprate unit just as expensive as the pc. They refuse to honor there agreement and now I can't stream my games and am totally screwed out of 1500 dollars. Total nightmare.. I was growing on twitch and making content and all that is gone now thanks to asus who claimed my laptop was opened but it never was and all the components are totally intact.
Extreme ghosting :(
Wym?
@@nate7243 that the monitor of this laptop has terrible ghosting, and very annoying not only for gaming
it would be nicer with QHD display
With a 13 inch screen? I don't see it...
3050t is not a gaming laptop
