Corporate greed isn't a new idea of the last 3 years. Apparently a large sector of the population thinks that increased costs would just be absorbed by the companies and not passed onto the consumer. Of course it will be.
Fast food gets a bad rap. It is not necessarily unhealthier than many home-cooked meals because many home-cooked meals are loaded with fat and cholesterol, simple carbs, and many calories. Nutrition is more complex than eating at home.
Canada has the same problem. What's worse is the Federal government keeps raising our carbon tax, even with the pandemic and now high inflation, taxes keep going up, and they keep spending more on social programs.
In comparison to everything else, grocery store prices, restaurant prices, all of which have gone through the roof, fast food is still relatively cheap. It's only because prices have jumped up so high and so quickly that people are experiencing "price hike" shock. So fast food is still cheap, by comparison. It's just not as cheap as it used to be.
Corporate is making money because they have exclusive rights for food supply and for food prep machines. Stores are squeezed be corporate, Gavin Newsom, and inflation.

I can buy 2.5 pounds of ground beef and package of hamburger buns from the grocery store for about $12. This is enough for 8 medium burgers. Or, I can go to a fast food joint and pay about $50 to $65 for the same thing. Fast food places are now costing about the same or higher as sit-down restaurants.

Would you stop with your imaginary symbolic crapola. We're in a world with a LOT more rich countries with HUGE populations than just twenty years ago. We also produce less food than ever. Its called international competition. Food is more expensive elsewhere.
Actually, there's no inflation from merely printing. Fiat currency has little to no real value, mass printing it would not actually effect its true value. It relies on perceived value. Inflation never existed with Fiat currency, its flat out greed. The reason is because people had more money to spend, corporations tried to maximize profits, so they resorted to price gouging. There's no inflation, just greed. And the greed must be fought with price caps, and heavy expensive fines as well as arrests.
How about let’s point out record profits that are increasing year over year. Earnings calls were executives boast about keeping prices high for higher revenue. And needing to use an app or coupons to get deals for what use to be cheap food.
