Great video! Thank you. What's your consensus through your eyes, looks like the illuminator on the Iris was really close to as good if not as good as the full power somogears
Did you notice any of the light edging when the illuminator was tightened on the IRIS? I’ve seen some videos where it looks like there are reflection artifacts when tightening the beam. I’m wondering if that’s common across all of them or only some of them do that.
Thanks a bunch! I’ve been looking forward to seeing the IRIS in use!
Yeah pretty excited. One of the biggest changes in civilian lams in a while. Compact , good output and affordable
The real big 3 that are competing for civ money right now are the m6TR, the IRIS and the D2. Watching them go head to head would be interesting
Well I think this kills the D2 imo especially due to the size.
Fuck the d2, HFXC you mean.
Isnt the d2 discontinued?
Damn, SMS Laser's HFXC isn't in the running here?
I am so glad i snagged a Perst 3 back when they were $800. Thing just slaps every other LAMs shit.
Yeah they still can’t be beat.
I have a DBAL A3 civilian I can’t wait to compare my IRIS when it comes in
Yeah I put my DBAL A3 into the video. It's honestly pretty sad. I had to check a couple times to make sure the illuminator was actually on. :P
Good video, no 5 minutes of intro filler bullshit. Just gets right into it.
Thx. I’m a content consumer too and I hate intros.
Great video demonstration, thank you! Now the real question is how it will fair against the incoming VCSEL Laserspeed M6TRV
Good question. Depends on the output specs and if they adhere to any gov standards.
@@MetalsaberI will say their regular m6TR keeps up with my buddy’s NGAL and couldn’t imagine needing more. That’s why I bought one

I'd say it's pretty close. Maybe slight less output as the Somogear. Hoping to test some more when it's not snowing like crazy.
I’d say the ease of adjusting the spread of the illuminator more than makes up for it though.
Yeah the slider adjustment is really easy. Has just enough friction that it won’t move on its own.

I saw that in another video. My thought is that’s just the intensifier tube reacting to the light reflecting off of a surface. I didn’t notice it.
@ that’s good to hear. Appreciate the insight.
When you use a wide IR illuminator, is there still an IR point laser within it?
nvm I see it now in the video. Looks great tbh
Yeah as long as you are in dual ir mode
I like it
How far would you say the farthest distance was ?
I was shining out to around 200yds. I’ll try to find a better spot as long as it’s not snowing. Just to see how well it can do.
Where did you order yours through?
