Always remember seeing there 737s and Dash 8s flying over my house while approaching KPIT. They were always my favorite growing up. It makes me cry to think about the model Continental 777 my dad brought home for me when I was only 3. 12 years later and I still have it😂
Great video. First time and only 2 times flying was on a Continental 738 on the KIAH-KPHL service, and back from KPHL. CO will always hold a special place in my heart. Proud bird forever.
Worked for Continental in Denver Colorado as a baggage handler and then mechanic for nearly 8 years til '93. Miss it, good times. Working for an airline is like working with your family.
I remember I took continental when I was 4. I remember almost everything on that trip. Once I heard heard about the merger, I was incredibly disappointed but happy that they kept the globe livery. I think the continental globe looked better with the word continental after it than it does with the Word united. Every day, I wish there was a way to go back to the days of Continental. I keep wondering if there are any more of these planes in the world that still say continental. Some of the continental express jets still say continental though.
Working for COA was a blast!!! Very tough job in-flight to get but sooo worth it!!! Met AMASING friends with COA and DAL!! Traveling to Australia, Egypt for New Year's, Roma, London, Cape Town for Christmas with the family!!! FREE trips to test the Narita-IAH first 777 transpacific so much fun!!!
Continental Airlines will always be remembered. They were my childhood Airline when we used to fly them every summer from LAX to Cleveland to visit family. It was always a 737/800😍 I’m happy United kept the same look though. Continental is a legend!🇺🇸✈️🥺❤️💯
when i was on a flight to florida on the bus to the airport we past continental airlines hangar and there was nothing inside and all empty and half of the sign was ripped off and i grew a tear in my eye then we were passing the terminal for united and they were all continental with the words united entiled on it ill never forget continental the great service they had................
when united merged with continental was the saddest part of my life. now, the next time i fly through houston, all of them will say UNITED on the side. so sad :'(
I enjoyed the video, but it has some serious shortcomings. Only a single photo of a DC10-10? No DC10-30? No 747s, No 727s. That’s inconceivable. Also how about including some salutes to the many fine Continental employees who served us so well! I will always remember the DC10 Pub service, First Class and Business First, John who ran the Presidents Club at SFO, the pilots who invited us to visit the cockpit while refueling in Guam and another time in Bozeman. So many nice memories!
As far as the merger goes, it is the widely held position of those in the industry that Continental will have to bring UAL up to the standards in place at CAL. A few years ago, Continental went from "Worst to First" under the stewardship of Gordon Bethune.
I fly United frequently because I am in Houston and I am seeing things in this new airline this is very disappointing. The outsourcing of front line services has completely destroyed customer service when you get to the airport. Rude, indifferent and, at times, hostile behavior are displayed by these outsourced replacements. Continental was a very good airline but lets face it after Kelleher left and Smisek came in, things changed very rapidly. I believe they were in the planning stages of a merger. Smisek appears to be more of a numbers person and customer service appears to be secondary. This combination is going to be disastrous for this airline because others are picking off their frequent fliers with far better service. I really miss the old Continental, they were so much better, prior to Jeff Smisek.
I flew from Scotland to New York (Newark) in 2005 & 2009 & I found them to be a really good airline..... But united airlines don't fly from Scotland as much as continent did
I was supposed to take Continental to Hawaii, Dulles to Las Vegas, then Hawaiian to Honolulu. Turned out United Airlines already replaced this aircraft. Shitty airline that airline is.
Apparently, United actually was the one that is defunct. It integrated into Continental, which renamed Continental to United. That's why the branding is the same.
I resigned from Continental due to the merger. There was no way Continental's five star corporate culture would be "seamlessly transitioned" to United Airlines despite what was promised. That did not happen. My former colleagues who stayed onboard are disappointed in their decision. United Airlines blows for the employees and the customers.
It's gonna take a longgggggggggg time for CO mgmt to correct United's big mistakes they did before the takeover. The UA and CO employees are having a major problem coexisting in dualing stations.
in one of your photos look how ugly the unitrd planes were painted. the old united looked like flying coffins! still thank goodness them boy! the CONTINENTAL employees have a rough time to teach the "u" people how to make a great airline work!!!! i've been through this, not an easy job. they will here ..we have always done it this way...daaaaa! no wonder y'alls CSI reports are .. on the net and other places united has won the honor of one of the 10 worst airlinrs in the world! TI help them!
I flew Continental for many years, classy company. NEVER had a major issue in all those flights. Crews were awesome, friendly and made travel fun. After the merger, you could tell in two minutes of boarding if the crew was former Continental. UNITED SUCKS!!! Thanks Jeff Smisek, you POS!!! If you had imported the great things Continental stood for and done, you would be world class airline, instead of next to last on the list of worst. Continental forever.

Continental will always hold a place in my heart. I remember flying them when I was about 8 years old in 2009 from Columbus to Cancun via Houston
Patterson Elevators & Films I flew them a lot as a kid, I remember those little badges that the flight attendants passes out to kids on planes
Yea
The first plane I flew on was a continental airlines 767-200, and I kept flying on them until SKOT KURBY frikin said "FRIK U KONTINENTAL
My beautiful airline. Just like that it was gone. The best years of my life I spent as a flight attendant at Continental Airlines❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Did you do the Newark to Glasgow flights??
@@jamiemcgowan6370 yes a few times. I mostly flew China, India
@@jamiemcgowan6370 I used too. I retired 2 years ago
You got that right the best Airlines in the Sky, I've work for Continental for 26 years, IN FLORIDA and I missed..CONTINENTAL AIRLINES..
Continental had something that United doesn't have. For me it's nostalgia and a sense of being cared for.

Well now u can be dissapontied since the livery was changed to only blue for united for some planes
I just flew Continental on July 4th of this year. All they did was change their their name to United. Literally nothing else changed
yeah or they added a curved line in their dreamliners and some of their maxes, the newer livery has the golden line swooped now but blue

very good company!! remembers me my trips and vacation to south and central america... i will miss you Continental! grtz from Belgium

the 2000's were one of the best decades i ever experienced
Put it like this my uncle and my aunt both work when they were in continental for 15 years and now they still working there but with the crappy United
I resigned. I saw the writing on the wall.

my hometown airline I miss them
Continental no matter wat.....continental forever...
speed of sound by coldplay
Im on your side GO CONTINENTAL!!!
If Gordon Bethune comes back, my attitude about this merger will greatly improve.
I liked Continental
The best airline somewhere in Houston, Texas❤️
Continental is AMAZING! What does everyone think about the merge?

i love continental i think they were a great airline

@basketballrox77 I know Continental and United merged, but what did that do for them?
Continental was so much better than United and I can't believe Jeff smiesk got fired for United
They should kept the name n livery!!
What sucks is that I only got to fly in 2011 in the United livery :(
which airline was historically more profitable between when continental launched and the merger?
I flew from Scotland to New York (Newark) in 2005 & 2009 & I found them to be a really good airline..... But united airlines don't fly from Scotland as much as continent did
I was supposed to take Continental to Hawaii, Dulles to Las Vegas, then Hawaiian to Honolulu. Turned out United Airlines already replaced this aircraft. Shitty airline that airline is.
Agreed.
Apparently, United actually was the one that is defunct. It integrated into Continental, which renamed Continental to United. That's why the branding is the same.
what song is that one
never seen a continental DC-10 or MD-11 :( they crash alot
@nickster2866 got rid of dc-10's a long long time ago.......never had a md-11. ;)
Yeah ever since they merged with United its sucks now I wish continental was back

Merger will be a bad thing down the road.
its just like united airlines!
I agree major mistake continental merger with united it sucked
For CO shareholder, that is very bad.

Song name? And continental airlines service sucks....they no care about the passengers, the seats Are uncomfortable...etc
I miss Continental. Should have merged with American or Southwest instead.
Many UA fans beg to differ because Management is mostly PMCO just saying!
Timestamp 0:28.
You have to atleast keep the retro planes after the merger...
@rileylove0808 ...AMEN :(
@rileylove0808 At least they didn't ditch your colors like those of us face on the United Side . I think both passenger groups are unhappy..
@ 0:27 oh the irony-why are they merging??? They are two different, fantastic airlines...tsk, tsk, tsk.
in one of your photos look how ugly the unitrd planes were painted. the old united looked like flying coffins! still thank goodness them boy! the CONTINENTAL employees have a rough time to teach the "u" people how to make a great airline work!!!! i've been through this, not an easy job. they will here ..we have always done it this way...daaaaa! no wonder y'alls CSI reports are .. on the net and other places united has won the honor of one of the 10 worst airlinrs in the world! @OlesonMD Bring him out of retirement and put him back in charge, at least temporarily.
