Did you know that most mountaineering backpacks have a whistle you can use in case of emergency?
They are not as loud and reliable as the dedicated emergency whistles but if you go often on the mountain for day trips and you want to pack light this might easily be a good replacement handy in case of an emergency when you want to grab attention if required or to chase a bear that might otherwise attack you.
