Thank you! The self leveling epoxy worked great, one thing I left off the video on accident was that if you use the epoxy, make sure your platform is very level and then we used a torch to pop the bubbles from mixing the epoxy. Thanks for watching!
Pro tips when using epoxy. First sand your substrate with 120 grit sand paper. This will help the mechanical bond between the epoxy and vinyl/melamine. Second on the back side put painters tape around the edge. As your epoxy drips over the edge it will adhere to the blue tape and you can just pull it off and not have to scrape. Nice build otherwise.
Did you wax the board at all? The video of the people playing looked like the pucks aren't gliding across the board like they should. Great build video! I made my own board a few years ago so I know the challenges you faced. :) Good job!
Yes! Definitely waxed it. The video gameplay is a big deceiving, because we had played so many games on it at that point that I probably needed re-waxing. It actually plays smoother then my Crokinole Canada board!
Thanks for the video. Just what I needed. One small critique. It was pretty difficult to hear what you were saying over the music and audio from the b-roll. Especially when you were cutting. I’m watching on a phone which I’m sure made it worse but just thought I would give you a heads up. Thx again for the video.

Thanks! Almost no difference at all! If you look closely at the pro board you can see that it is a veneered MDF board, the only difference between the pro and mine is that veneer and then the edge or trough made out of vinyl on mine or steam bent plywood on theirs. Oh and I guess the 2 part epoxy vs the poly for finish. Mine weighs maybe an oz or two more, but not by much!

Yeah I think that has to do with how well it is waxed at the time. That being said, I have a professional Crokinole Canada Tracey board and the one I built is just as smooth surface as the pro board.

Watch you fingers at 7:00! Ouch potential there. Spray wax that thing and use gliss powder and you'll have a nice surface.
Definitely! A tricky spot, it was almost too flimsy of material to use a push stick on! Thankfully I now use a different material for the rails!

Great job. Personally I would have gone with a maple veneer for the top. Easier to wax and more durable. How is the epoxy holding up BTW?

What product exactly is your vinyl sheet? I get lots of different products when I google: pvc, plastic, hdpe, etc.

Yep that's exactly it. I also used it for the playing surface too!
They way those buttons just stick to the baord when the players are shooting is hard to watch. They should slide almost effortlessly across the board
