Yes I agree that the gold are good ideas but there haven’t been any that really interest me. Now that being said, hopefully they will delve into other genres which will hopefully bring more people around to the gold line.
I'm in the same boat as a lot of others, Gold needs more lines than just sports and music. Like if they started making Halo or other major video games (elder scrolls, portal, etc.) I'd be all over them! I would want Star Wars or Marvel ones too but Hasbro has that "we make all the action figures" contract with Disney so Gold ones would have to be bobble heads regardless. Which could still be really cool if done correctly. All and all I would purchase them if I just had more of a connection to the ones being made.

At first i was not a fan of Funko Gold, but when they released the musicians with guitars i gave them a try. Just because i thought they have better poses. Now i have the big Jimi Hendrix and Slash and both are great additions to my Rocks collection.
I agree that the style is awesome but none of the figures they put out yet have really sparked my interest. If they were to apply that style to some of the other properties they make products for it would get a lot more hype around them. I can imagine them doing a version for the 2003 TMNT line and it looking really good because of the way those characters had the larger feet and hands
I agree they look cool. They are very reminiscent of the old vintage Fat Albert toys. Until tonight I hadn’t seen any Funk Gold figures that I liked. I think the Ice Cube figure is really cool. Just haven’t scene him in person. I collect the figures that I like and can afford, so often I don’t have the most expensive Funkos.
I bought that Hendrix figure yesterday. I was blown away by seeing him. I HAD to have him, without even knowing that he had been produced. I didn't know, either, about the smaller headband model. I won't buy that one....I won't buy that one....Ha ha. I probably will. He is FANTASTIC!!!!!
Currently looking to add the Andre 3000 10" FUnko Gold from the Ms. Jackson video, and I will also get the Big Boi to go with it! On another note, I gifted some sports figures to folks with team-themed man caves which were a big hit!
What’s good fam!? I think it’s a few reasons why me and others aren’t collecting these. First we don’t need more figures from funko. We are already swamped with pop! And sodas. Second they don’t look like who they’re supposed to be and we saw that with big and pac. Most funko pop don’t even look like the people they are based on so we are not gonna double up with a bunch of gold figures lol Third is the articulation. We just don’t really need these. We need better molds for our musicians. Nice packaging though lol

When you film, do you just have both cameras running the whole time? Thanks man - I always enjoy the videos!

I have to agree with you. I’ve been on the end of dissing everything Funko tried to do, but I’ve started to open my mind. I think Golds would be a lot cooler if they started doing some fictional characters. But what I’ve noticed, like you said, is the VAST majority of Funko Pop Collectors won’t even look at something if it’s not a pop. It’s sad
I bought all the Notorious B.I.G. variants they made and love the look and feel. If they make more people I want I could see myself buying more!! I wonder if the plan is to stick to music & athletes or if there is some plan to expand. If so then I don't follow any athletes so I would just stick to any music ones I might like. Overall its a cool new figure line and they look good in and out of box. Not really sure why they would get hated on but you nailed it as always Dom its just a very vocal group that is upset to see Funko use any resources on anything that is not the pop line.

Funko should have stuck with their Wacky Wobblers and (forgive their terminology) Spastic Plastic, getting licences for these would've been great rather than a figure that does jack- sh1t and in most cases doesn't even leave the box
I liked the vynl. Figures that funko did and have a few, like the wizard of Oz ones. Maybe beter for my wallet that they were discontinued, but they didnt get to do the wicked witch and glinda 😒.
If Funko would stop recycling old molds and stop making different versions of the same mold, before testing the market with items that really aren't selling.. Sodas are the exception, I like the gold series. But Funko needs to make new styles of characters etc or make new ones of characters that haven't been molded yet.
1 problem is they don’t ship internationally I would love to buy direct from funko that way I know I’m getting the genuine item , instead of going on eBay paying double the price an possibly receiving a fake China copy , an the soda pops should be US version an more exclusives , cut the international of the can but the pog’s are cool in the international soda pops
I bought some dorbz, and I liked when they did action figures for a while. The megaman and Disney afternoon stuff was great it was a shame they canceled that. We never got Gizmoduck. Also mystery minis are fine. Any alternative to pops is welcome. But I wouldn't buy Athletes and Musicians so gold lost me immediately, also I feel that brand is kind of cynical, getting in the face of hiphop kids with the gold chains.
I just believe people should be allow to collect what they want. I only collect anime so this do not fit with my collection unless they do some anime. But as you mention they look more like statues which they would have to be better quality from what is already out there.

Funko Gold is literally a rebranding of Rock Candy from boxes to figure design that was unpopular. Honestly Urban Vinyls line was better than Funko Gold but also failed quickly.

The golds never sell, we have so many limited runs that have never sold out. And we keep getting more, they take too much space.
