I've read some female romances and this is the take away I got. The man has to kind of be perfect. He has to look great, have status and be desired by everyone. It also helps if he has a bad boy persona. He is super competent, but you never really see that in scene. I think its just assumed by his status. What you see in scene is that he comes off as extreme incompetent and the mere presence of the woman some how fixes everything. I've also noticed that he is supposed to be some power house of a guy such as a super busy CEO or ruler of a kingdom but also have so much free time that he is essentially spending just about every waking moment of his day wooing her. As if he has so much wealth that he can check out of his duties for a half year for the sake of romance. Also i've noticed that with many of the female characters they don't really do much of anything but the author tries hard to make them look super hard working and competent. Instead they are more waiting for things to be done to them. They are the objects of romance and not the romancers. My big take away from it all is that its all about making her feel feelings. That was the big core of it all. As silly as some of the stories got, or how lame the man was acting or whatever it is the reader was supposed to believe the one thing that stays constant is that the woman is feeling feelings from it all. And so if you as the guy aren't making her feel feelings then you're for sure failing at romancing.

It's less hard to go from 1 woman to 2 women. Once you get a 3rd in rotation, a 4th is very soon to follow. Doesn't matter if you're fat or ugly or poor. Get a woman on your team. Once you do it....get another. Get whoever you can then do it again and again. You will go through bouts of getting 4 and losing 2 then getting 1 to lose 1 because you can't be in a woman's 3 women's life like they demand because you flat out won't have the time. For instance, you can only spend the night with 1 woman on Valentine's Day and the other women will be upset that it wasn't her. I've been on the 80 side and the 20 side of the equation. The sun rises and falls on the 20 side. Get there and stay there. Once you give your all to a woman, 8 times out of 10, you will lose the woman because you give away what it took to get her.
Not that hard to find. Of course, I met mine in my mid 20's and didn't care if he were working minimum wage as long as he showed up everyday. He's 6'3'' but in the country some men are just tall. Two things beat sexual fantasies, but you need to be able to make them without judgement and have the ability to handle them(mainly boils down to handle yourself): 1. Still not necessarily bringing the tigress out. Sounds the same but it is not. The pure pleasure is a setup + settings + process + processing + environment, where letting the tigress loose(or finding she has one herself) is a choice on her part, which is the difference. All of the above is more or less perspective with specific set of words to convey somewhat clearly an experience that needs to be experience(regardless which side you are in the experience) to understand, and cannot be put in or described with words. I understand this completely and I've been struggling with the part where I can handle it, it usually gets stuck in me, and I have to fight it (their emotions, vibe, knowledge, mindset, their being), I need a couple of days in solitude. In my novel the main couple has lots of things trying to pull them apart, though they work hard to stay together anyway. It's not a romance novel, but it does have some of those underlying elements. My fantasies can be hard to pin down, though they would probably pin me down.
Some of the need for romance novels to try to pull the couple apart is probably literary. If there were no obstacles, there would be no story. Another reason probably has to do with the need for proof of commitment. It's easy enough to say you love someone and you would do anything to be with them. It's another thing to act it out in the face of actual challenges.

This is why it doesn’t work having situationships with multiple girls, even if transparent and they say its ok. Things always derail because it goes against their essential nature to be the one and only for these reasons you went over. It's never this black and white. There is something called pre selection bias (or something similar) where women find men more attractive based on other women's validation. So by a man having lots of girl friends or partners this shows he is obviously desirable to lots of women.
Spot on. In my late 40s I stopped pretending I didn't want other partners, and was just honest about it with those I was involved with. Some knew immediately they were not okay with it, and they gone. Some thought they were okay with it, but really they were not. Really, they were waiting and hoping I'd get tired of any others and come back to them only. Always in the end, they ended up hurt and angry. It took me a while to figure out that openness and honesty is simply not good enough.

I think the reason these romance novels are dangerous (and ultimately do women much harm) centers around creating the false belief that this cosmic bond she forms with her alfa male will last forever. Even if she has this sublime romantic and sexual life for a while, the years will take their toll, and the dopamine rush will reside. When that happens women (and men) start to feel restless and are susceptible to straying from their stale relationship in hopes of finding their spiritual and sexual nirvana part deux.

Nice explanation. The problem for me is that for many women, this is subconscious and not always realistic. It's hard for a men to always be in the role of Gigachad 24/h. I mean, so many times I've seen women who quit their man when he loses his job, or get sick, depressed etc etc because maybe they don't like "weakness" . So yeah for reproduction this behavior by selecting good genes can be good. But if we want to build a more conscious and mature society, where real jobs, real value, good relationship between human, ethic work are praised, then, the men and women who compose the society need to be more mature and conscious about themselves, about the energy and objectives which drives them, need to be equilibrated in their emotions and psyche. Cause this stuff of only choosing mate by the emotional roller-coaster they can give us, led us partially to the world we are now... In this world peoples suffer in their relationship, are cheated, are lost, depressed etc etc. Its good to know how to please your partner, but in the long-run, others quality and more consciousness in life need to be added.
Yeah, exactly. Great post. I've twice had a woman be really in love with me -- one of them was talking about buying a house with me and was showing me wedding dresses. The other gave me a paper and written on it were things and qualities she loved about me. In both cases, I cried in front of them one time (I was abused and neglected during my youth and that came up). And instantly they went cold, and dumped me soon after. As you say, you can't have a long-term stable relationship if the woman bails the second that the guy shows weakness once. Because the guy is going to do that, sooner or later. Almost no man is a gigachad always. And it wasn't like I was permanently disabled or anything -- it was just a moment of emotional pain. I was fine an hour later. The part that women must see themselves as special, unique, set apart in the alpha's eyes is pure narcissism. A secure alpha male will not require that you fulfill his fantasy that he is unique and special amongst all males. A secure alpha will accept you if you fulfill his requirements of being cooperative, helpful, sensual, and compassionate. Dating is a vanity exercise for many women because they are helplessly obsessed with loving themselves above anyone else.
Yes, sadly you're right that it's very destabilizing for society when most women chase the top 20% of men. Those top 20% of men drown in sex and often become dicks as a result, while the other 80% of men have no stake in the system and stop contributing to the system (beyond "do just enough so that I can pay rent"). Sad but true. I think lots of women actually don't love themselves. Also i've noticed that with many of the female characters they don't really do much of anything but the author tries hard to make them look super hard working and competent. Instead they are more waiting for things to be done to them. They are the objects of romance and not the romancers.

This makes a lot of sense. She wants him to be stronger and smarter than her, but she want to be able to control him through his desire for her, make him uniquely hers. I like romantic elements in stories, but the main story and conflict need to be somewhere else. In my novel the main couple has lots of things trying to pull them apart, though they work hard to stay together anyway. It's not a romance novel, but it does have some of those underlying elements.

Some of the need for romance novels to try to pull the couple apart is probably literary. If there were no obstacles, there would be no story.
Another reason probably has to do with the need for proof of commitment. It's easy enough to say you love someone and you would do anything to be with them. It's another thing to act it out in the face of actual challenges.

Very insightful. As a guy, this really connected some dots in my understanding of women. This is why it doesn’t work having situationships with multiple girls, even if transparent and they say its ok. Things always derail because it goes against their essential nature to be the one and only for these reasons you went over. It's never this black and white. There is something called pre selection bias (or something similar) where women find men more attractive based on other women's validation. So by a man having lots of girl friends or partners this shows he is obviously desirable to lots of women.

Some knew immediately they were not okay with it, and they gone. Some thought they were okay with it, but really they were not. I think the reason these romance novels are dangerous (and ultimately do women much harm) centers around creating the false belief that this cosmic bond she forms with her alfa male will last forever.
