Ooh, yes, only a few days ago I was complaining how ITN's past election coverage was hard to find compared to the BBC's, who I've been rewatching over the last week or so. Won't be watching it live, but will definitely be catching up later on, as long as it's still online. Would love you to put up the past elections in full as well... or at least what survives of them. Uploaded this video in 50fps as well, which makes it even better! Can really highlight how the 59, 64 and 66 elections survive on videotape (as opposed to the BBC who only have them as telerecordings).
The 1959 election is a telerecording, not videotape. The 1964 and 1966 are video but I think have been camera-copied to convert them from 405 line to 625 line (which introduces a bit of stickiness in the image). But absolutely agree - would pay £££s to have the full ITN election night programmes ...

Maybe the tapes weren't found until some point after 1997?
@@DBIVUK Also I assume the original tapes for the 64 and 66 elections are gone, which means they can't do a better quality modern conversion. A shame because those conversions really don't look great at times. Must have been converted to 625 very early on if it was an optical conversion. Still a lot better than many of those optical conversions of 405 line domestic recordings that are out there though, some of them are terrible, very distorted, cropped and with the outer edge of the screen visible.
I love the really goofy music in the 70s elections. Usually even with these sorts of segments in news media the idea is to build up a sense of tension (y'know, it being an election and all). This seems to have gone instead for old timey elevator music...
The 1983 opening titles has the wrong music, this is not the music which was aired on the night. The 1987 music sounds a bit like Strike it Lucky theme tune from the same period
I hope the video will be kept up for a few days afterwards so those with more pressing viewing engagements on the night can watch it later.
