Haha, that sounded like if Adam Sandler stopped by to do a Steven Spielberg impression. That reminds me of one of his characters on his comedy album. But I can't remember which one, or maybe it was one of the Jerky Boys characters from around the same period.
Sidebar: Dang, while Adam has kept pace with current pop culture (more or less), the Jerky Boys by comparison have really slipped into obscurity. Of course Johnny decided boot the other guy out of their duo claiming he was ever the only real important creative force in the Jerky Boys (I'm paraphrasing).
I can't say if I feel that's accurate or not as I haven't heard enough of them in recent years to say and it wasn't always clear back then who was doing each of the voices and different characters. But either way it speaks to their dysfunction as a group.
And of course Adam Sandler pretty quickly branded himself as a superstar comedian (whether you like him or not history has spoken and he has shown range and dramatic skills ever since the excellent Punch Drunk Love).
So that likely helped him not coming to fame under the name of a group and no one knowing his name outside of it.
That's been a problem for so many in music becoming famous as part of a band, wanting to break away as a solo artist, but if your name for example is Tom Smith, who the hell is gonna remember that apart from all the other non remarkable names and details that flood our brains on a daily basis.
Also so many of those solo albums often suck (I'm generalizing here, but witnessed and heard this many a time) and are boring, especially compared to the band they came from. Yeah Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Fried Dildos (oh wait what songs were they known for?), tend to stick out in the mind more than Tom Smith.
I remember helping out a bit on a music video for a guy who had a similarly bland name that nearly was Tom Smith. I thought what an idiot, nobody is gonna easily find you via a Google search. Flies Watching Paint Dry On Wallpaper would even be a better stage name.
So yeah why go to all that trouble for basically nothing. He never gave himself a chance to stand out, sorta important in our ever densely saturating world of pop culture.
Well whoever he was, I never even found that performance online anywhere after we spent all day working on it. Maybe it had something to do with blandness.
Ok, I suppose that's enough of a sidebar ; ) 😅
I think one of my favorite moments from the first 15 was when Glenn was getting angry that Rob and Charlie said they knew he had never eaten a Philly cheesesteak lmao
I respect Rob's ability to sit back and just let them do their thing. Thanks for throwing this together. Great collection
Like I LOVE this podcast. At first I didn't think it would be anything special (you know, just like any other podcast) but it's Just So Funny. I'm looking forward to every new episode

It’s just that Jesus her first was conceived through the spirit to end the blood lineage of the Jews to enter a spiritual era where we must learn how to worship in spirit and in truth John 4:24
That got deep, I know 😅
