    I love these videos. Do you have one that shows how to get a puppy's front feet under them? My puppy seems to look a bit like a horse peeing!

    This course in a short time is a game changer. 10 month old beagle puppy with strong personality. We are still a big work in progress. But seeing baby steps of improvement. We are just at head straight and communication has really changed. Follow and trust the progress. Enjoy the ride ❤️.

    Interesting video and channel. I began to train my French Bulldog puppy. Is it possible use the head straight with a puppy of 5 months? My purpose is to present her at shows in the juniores class, that in Italy start from 6 to 9 months. Thank you!

    Do you have any videos that address jumping while gaiting? I can hardly practice gaiting with my 6 month old because he jumps and it usually leads to nipping (which is another issue we are working on).

    I plan on working on the Head Straight. I'm hoping it will help me regain control of my dog when we're in the Group ring. After the individual exam and we're waiting for the judge to finish the rest of the group, he will get antsy and start to bark. Do you have any suggestions to stop the barking? He doesn't do it in the breed ring, I think because there is less waiting. Thanks.

      You need to teach him fun tricks and give him jobs where he can fulfill his duties.

    Thank You for sharing this video as a complete guide to head straight. I am currently showing a 13 month old Border Collie puppy in AKC and UKC. She moves wonderfully but get bored waiting for "her turn" before we get in the ring for her class or in the breed/group ring. I have been looking for ways to control her (she will bite on the leash, throw herself on the ground, all kinds of temper tantrums). I started using the head straight more frequently in the ring and with more duration and she has improved a great deal. She finished her UKC title yesterday with a Herding Group 2 over some really nice Champion dogs. Can't wait to see what she can do a the benched show in Philadelphia this coming weekend. #headstraight

      If she is doing that in the ring she is not ready to show. Watch this video again and practice what you see. Earn respect before you start training.

    This was a great video! Thank you for acknowledging the working nature of some breeds. I have Catahoulas and my goodness they are something else. I've always just tried to make things stimulating and fun for them. They are extremely smart!

    Can you still do this head straight method with a shih tzu? I mean they really don’t have a muzzle so where should I hold onto?

    Is there a way to use the first position efficiently with a potatohead 3yr-old Rottweiler with no prior conformation experience? He is coming along with the instruction you have provided on these videos, but I find myself grabbing a hank of hide along his jowls with the "finger cradle" to keep his muzzle from twitching out to the side when he goes all attention-deficit OR using the 3rd position more to keep the entire noggin itself straight. It's not a question of strength, just leverage and teaching, and I feel like I'm fighting him more than I should when he wants to fixate elsewhere that's not HEAD STRAIGHT. He was raised with an obedience background, but I am using conformation training to acquire new skills for both of us.

    Thank you for this useful video!! Have you any suggestion to improve gait? I mean, for a dog with amazing natural gait but that sometimes refuse to do at shows. Like she’s sad/unwilling/uncomfortable. Something to motivate and have an happy mood. Thanks 🙏🏻

    Thank you for making these videos. I will be using a martingale show lead on my 6 month IG. Are there any differences in using this type of lead when doing the head straight routine?

    What size flat link collar is on this dog? The one I ordered for my dog of similar size ended up being a lot larger link and is good for training, but looks out of place in the ring.

    I dont understand how to start from scratch on head straight? When do you reward? How long do you expect for duration? I am a novice starting from scratch.

    Himthere. Trying the first step with my bull terrier but my hand doesnt seem big enough to hold collar this way and not have my fingers fall to her jaw joint -mthis making her want to open her mouth. If i still have control of her head and can tense the collar is a version of this hold ok?

      Just practice it needs to be as shown or it won’t work. Throat clear and pressure behind the head.

    Hi Sir, my labrador puppy (5months) keeps on sitting while doing the head straight. What should I do? My dog is very lazy :)

    • @EricSalasworkshops
      @EricSalasworkshops  3 роки тому +1

      Your puppy is not lazy. Your puppy is smart and trying to distract you from controlling the head. Keep doing this and focus on the head only.

      Hi sir! Thank you for your time answering my question. Anyway, after the head what should I do next? I think I'm ok doing the head straight (head only) should i stack him now?

    I always stack my dog but he always moves his front or back leg he’s not to motivated for food and doesn’t listen well I don’t know if it’s because I’m small or I just keep unbalancing him

    I tried the head straight… my puppy hates this and does a tantrum, I don’t want to be a bad experience ❗️what do I do about this

    • @EricSalasworkshops
      @EricSalasworkshops  2 роки тому +1

      When you’re working with the puppy its play with a purpose so you’re not trying to really enforce anything too difficult or too demanding at this point you want to just run around see if the dog in touch targets like watching the video where training starts
