Succession - How To Film a Car Scene
Вставка

- Despite the limitations of the setting, Succession uses creative camera work, lighting, and framing to narrate tension, humor, and tragedy, all while stuck in the back of a car.

I’d love to see more Succession analyses, this series is just chock full of amazing camerawork
Also worthing noting the change of seating at least in the examples you showed Shiv was on left and Tom was on the right and in the final one they have swapped it shows the power shift in their relationship.
man you've just like, never stopped making absolutely banger, thoughtful videos, for years. such respect, thank you for all your work!
I appreciate that!
Besides all this, I just realize that Shiv sits on the left side of the frame until that last shot where they flip sides. It got me thinking on the power dynamics of it all.
0:30 - I beg to differ, there's nothing colorful or warm about NYC in the show.
The brilliance of the set designers, dressers, and cinematography of Succession is that they make the most elite / luxurious places on earth feel drab & grey
Macfadyen totally spikes the camera at 2:16
Also the most comedic car scene is easily from the pilot with Greg, Logan, and Marcia.
it's hilarious to me that a 'less colourful' technique is being used for a rural place than for a heavily concrete, steel and glass tapered place
I don't even disagree, bet it helpss making a point between calm and busy environments, but still
Cars (and the occasional helicopter) are basically to *Succession* what elevators are to *Mad Men*. Claustrophobia as thesis statement. It's really incredible how many variations on the theme they did.
Great analysis, as always! Love the Succession videos!
Succession's car scene felt like a callback to Peep Show. Specifically, Mark & Johnson's scene in the bmw from season 1 😂
Outstanding analysis! Thank you.
Thanks for the breakdown! 💎
Love your work!
31 SECONDS NOTIFICATION GANG!!
the swapped positions in the last shot speak volumes as well
although the two characters interacting are not both at the back of the car, I think the way the car scenes in Parasite were very well filmed too, the camera work really added to the narative. But yeah not quite what you're talking about here sorry !
new video from da goat 🐐
You already know
Love u hope u find the upload button soon
You can’t make a Tomlette without breaking some Greggs
The second, comedic scene's camera angles do look very Peep Show.
How to film a car scene.
The Raid 2: Hold my beer 😎
Also Tom and Shiv have switched places in the last shot, which implies that Tom's the one with the power now.
YOURE BACK!?
Is this uploaded in 4:3? I didn't know you still could, but that's awesome
I must admit I didn’t like Tom’s character in the beginning of the series. But by the end I thought he was actually one of the good guys.
Interesting! what changed your opinion of him if you dont mind?
Why do you consider the NYC scene "warm"? Isn't it the other way around?
cool
🖤
"Dreary and over-cast UK"... Cheers mate 🤣
What is the name of the song you use in all your videos? I've tried so hard to find it but can't :(
I think you have to brownnose the creator if you want any sort of possible response... otherwise he seems to have way too many comments to go through to answer. 😂😂
Mr. Darcy?
Yoooooo
Here early Cuz we have no life gang‼️‼️🗣️
it is true they actually film in cars? it cant be green screen, it looks too real
It's often cars that get towed.
@@account6416doesn’t need to be in this instance. They’re not driving.

"promosm" 😳
It's funny because all these things that you mention are exactly what I notice when I watch: and it completely ruins my immersion. It's like they pour it on too strong and I always catch it and realize what the director is trying to do and it ends up making me not want to watch it. It only works when it's subtle and natural and suspends your disbelief. It's a bit of a curse and why I normally never watch fiction shows. Even movies are hard to find these days.
Learn to find enjoyment from a appreciative abstract view. Immersion is an illusion anyway. Instead of trying to get immersed into the series/movie, awe at them from the outside, like you would do with a painting in a museum.
Picking up on this stuff only makes me enjoy the media more; Deepens my appreciation of the work
Controversial take:
Succession is not a terribly good show.
I know i'm in the absolute minority regarding this, but the style of dialogue and filming just doesn't do it for me.
I liked "The Thick Of It", but Succession is tonally all over the place.
