After 10-years of selling the SA series we upgraded every part that ever failed for any reason for the all-new v2. The result is a much more rugged woofer that will work in basically the same enclosure sizes as the old SA series while also providing less distortion over a broader mechanical excursion window. They will carry a full 1000-watt RMS rating. The 12" prototype finish is black but they will all be chrome on production. Motor boots will also be tooled for production.
List of upgrades compared to the v1 SA series:
1) Magnet outer diameter increased from 180mm to 190mm
2) Magnet slugs increased from 25mm to 27mm in height (total 4mm more height)
3) Motor structure fully bolted together with 3x M6 bolts (eliminates the possibility of motor shifting)
4) Top-Plate "Slits" implemented as with the X and Z series. Increased cooling & reduced distortion.
5) Improved gap venting -- more / flared gap vents.
6) Improve pole-vent design -- smoothly flared on both sides.
7) Coil increased from 63.5mm (2.5") to 70mm (2.75") in diameter. Higher thermal capacity.
8) New "U series" style cast-aluminum frame for taller cones (more x-mech both top-side from cone to spider and bottom from spider to top plate)
9) Aluminum cast gasket to bolt-on surround.
10) Aluminum cast vent ring to enhance thermal transfer from motor to the frame.
11) Standard with double "XL" leads and "bolted-on" spider
12) Larger and thicker surround (same tooling as U series).
13) Strongest paper cones we have ever produced... new two-piece mold technique that we will expand to other cones in the future.
14) "Large Flange" dust cap just like our larger woofers. Essentially eliminates dust-cap glue failure.
15) Larger spider diameter on the 12/15" models (the 10" retains the same 188mm spider)... 12" up to ~200mm and 15" up to ~210mm
16) Improved spider material -- same "hybrid" material sandwich that we implemented on the Rev.4 of the X & Z series spiders (as well as X-8 v3)

I have been waiting for so long for these subs to drop! I'd be so grateful to get one of these being that I'm currently running an old MTX 7500 12" from a system I had 12 years ago and the surround is totally blown out. You do what you gotta do when times are hard and bass is life!

I just got a truck recently and it came with a 10" kicker comp s sub. I was looking to upgrade but dont have enough cash! I've done research and heard sundown is one of the best subs in the game. Peace✌
I absolutely loved the v1 SA!! I had a pair of 10s and 12s!!! I would buy a 2nd one and replace my American Bass 12s. And definitely would get the dual 12 prefab box. Can’t wait to try them!!!

I had 2 version 1 SA 10’s when I started with Sundown. I’ve been upgrading since then. Sundown is by far the best company in the car audio game. Their products are no joke. If I win the giveaway, I would give the sub to my daughter. She’s right around the corner from getting her first car and she’s just like her dad, gotta have that bass. Love the 8” subs but a treo of 15” would look n beat like crazy in my 96’ impala ss. Just finished her up LS swap and now I need some beats! Keep up the great work jp!

Never had a sundown but I'd hook it up to my elite1 and put it through a great deal of test great video much respect on pushing ground pounding equipment.

I’d replace my v1 sa12 lol. Ran double the power on that boy for years until I burnt some tinsels up. Then proceeded to run it on one vc with about 900watts for another few months. Loved that sub
If I won one of these woofers, I will wire it up to my taramps 3k in my minivan and hopefully not disturb the peace... Too much.. Man I was hoping this giveaway was still going to happen. I have been looking at the d4s page for months wishing I could afford two sa 12's. Then all of a sudden, BOOM, v2's. I didn't know whether to get excited or cry LOL. I have pretty much watched every single video on the sa12 I could find. If i could have won this sub my sae 1500d would finally have a match so I could use it to its full potential. Either way, I love your videos JP! Keep em coming!
