Kamloops - Downtown Trains

- A collection of Canadian Pacific freight trains passing through downtown Kamloops, BC ( tinyurl.com/yc... ) mostly in September 2017. This is a crew-change point and the boundary between the Shuswap and Thompson subdivisions. Filmed from the pedestrian footbridge that spans the tracks next to the CPR offices and from the adjacent Sandman Signature hotel. (A room on the south side of the hotel is perfect railfan accommodation - you can feel the vibration from the trains as well as hear the noise as they pass by...)

I grew up in Kamloops back in the 70’s where the CP Rail locomotive colours were Tuscan Red and Grey, but I grew up in Brocklehurst across from the CN mainline. Kamloops was (and still is) a railroad town!
Yes, it certainly feels like one with the CP mainline going right through it :-)
Thought I would try this old post
The webcams there have not been in service, for a few months.
Just got back home from there this morning. It was awesome. Want to go back. Those CP trains got pretty long I noticed
Great video enjoyed it
can we get this on youtub 27\7
Thanks I enjoyed your video, thanks for posting
Hey ac6044cw, is there a link to that pedestrian cam you are on...maybe
No - all the video was recorded with my own camera, when I visited Kamloops.
Very nice captures !! James.
Thanks!
Cool video!
I have been there and watched the trains, it was amazing watching from that bridge.
Why were the UP locomotives in Kamloops/Canada?
I saw a video on youtube with a Norfolk Southern locomotive in New Westminster.
The UP locos appeared to be on run-through grain trains from the US, presumably for export through Vancouver.
I always stay at the Sandman Signature when in Kamloops. The south (downtown) side is perfect for train spotters. You won't even miss any action should you want to go for a swim in the pool or Jacuzzi! The hotel is right by the CP yard, so you see crew changes. A trip to North Kamloops and there's the CN mainline. The bridge spanning the North Thompson is great for pictures or videos. Don't forget your scanner!
I think my room was on floor three or four, and the hotel is close enough to the tracks that I could feel the bed wobble when a freight went past...definitely very high up the list of 'railfan' hotels.
