@@IntoTheChannelPod Yeah I'm not sure they'll pull off the worst-to-first like Gotham (though I'm not counting them out) but just being sixth in the table seems like a speed-run improvement. Even when she doesn't score or assist it feels like the team just has a huge confidence lift with her on the pitch.
What doesn't compute for me is that every show I watched including this one has Bethune as a MVP andidate but no one has her on the Olympic team roster. Usually she is not mentioned in the Olympics analysis. Is the USWNT leaving its best player at home? This Sunday is great day to watch Lavelle and Bethune on the pitch at the same time. I have been mulling a three deep USWNT roster based on this year's NWSL performaance. Spoiler alert. Dunn is not in the top 33. The idea that you need experience to win the Olympics is not a good one. The youngest team won the the 2023 World Cup. Horan provides enough leadership. Nobody does it this way but what is your two deep all star team as compared MVP?
I agree she needs to be in the conversation more for the Olympics, but she’s only been in one camp for the Emma/Twila era. Too much of a risk to take her on an 18 player roster when she has minimal understanding of the system, especially when the US’ roster is already 10/attacking mid heavy
