Mamma Mia was my grandma’s favorite movie, She died in 2013 at 75. When the first one came out I didn’t want to see it because I was a 12 year old boy who thought that musicals were for girls and kids. I watched it for the first time last year on a day I was missing her and I loved it. When my parents and I saw this one, we bought an extra ticket and left a seat empty for her. I know she was there though. I’d recognize her perfume anywhere.

I love how Lily’s voice is like a mix of Meryl and Amanda. The storyline is perfection so in sync and connected to the songs. Thank you for Mamma Mia 2 for these amazing Abba songs that are not really known for us younger generations. Best movie ever! ✨

I saw the movie with my 24-year-old daughter and my husband. He and I cried all the way through it.
I am very ill with a heart condition; every day is a gift and a surprise. When the movie was over, my daughter came to me and held me tightly for several minutes.
She will remember this scene for all the rest of her life.

Beautiful song. I saw the movie yesterday with mother in law, my daughter (14), my son (15) - what a wonderful movie. I lost my mom when I was 23 before I had my children, my mother in law also lost her mother fairly young (she already had her children) - we also had another loss. My husband when my children were only 5 & 6. What an emotional movie for all of us. I'm so glad that we sat in the very back, that is probably the hardest that I have cried in public ever. I miss my mom, dad, and husband so much and love my daughter and son with everything that I am.

    .... No .... I won't..... I can't.... Bugger😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Mum passed away when I was 7, she was a huge abba fan when I was little, she would sing along whilst recovering from chemo to her abba cassettes. Several songs are marked with everlasting memories of my mum.
My dad did a great job raising two girls in the early 90s there was sod all support for single dad's raising daughter's, he never remarried, he said when u have the best the world nothing and one one will ever do.
my mum never got to see marriages of daughter's or my babies, we Never shared the bond on mother daughter grandma, sharing love and knowledge.
Learning how to be a mum too teens was an experience.
My dad passed away when my youngest was 3, and she has so many of his mannerisms.
This is performed so beautifully and simply sums up perfectly the love and pain...
Hugs to all who have lost a loved one. Remember them this Christmastime

How could you not cry? The original song by ABBA always made cry. My mom used to sing it To me while my album played. She died in 2009 at 66, and I listened to it over and over then. Now almost
10 years later, I still cry. Beautiful.

This is the only song in the Mamma Mia movies that I think surpasses the original ABBA song. Every other song from these movies is fantastic, but doesn't quite live up to the songs they are based on..... except for this song. This song is perfection.

omg, the tears flowed when I saw Meryl's reflection in the baptismal water and singing this beautiful ABBA song which I haven't heard in decades. I immediately thought of my mother who passed last December. When Sophie sees her deceased mama Donna in spirit, who is like an angel so proud of her daughter and gazing lovingly upon her new grand-daughter, I lost it!

What an amazing combination of voices! And what feeling from Meryl Streep, although I will add that Amanda Seyfried was great as well. Just let her age a bit, she will be even greater. But was impresses me here is their duet... can't wait for the third movie!!! Imagine this scenario, Amanda and her baby girl growing up and she turns out to be like Donna/Streep.... wow! And I will add that Lily James was great!!! She really committed to the role and was well chosen.

My daughter and I watched this together. There had been tears earlier but none like the ones that streamed down both of our faces in this scene. Made us both realise how lucky we are and the bond we have felt even stronger. A great film - funny, emotional, heart warming and poignant.

I can't believe people don't like this rendition! I know it can't top ABBA's version but this version is still amazing, and to not give it any credit is absolutely mind boggling. Both of their voices here are phenomenal, especially Meryl's, I adore her voice a lot and really makes this version worth listening to. And the scene itself, it was fantastic. In short I really love this version wow. 💜

It's awful, saccharin divel. So believe it. I shouldn't get pi55ed off by it, but the fact it has more views than the far superior original ruffles my feathers a wee bit.

    • @jackneoh8717
      @jackneoh8717 3 роки тому +1

@@GlobalWilderbeast Because the original isn't well known at all. It's one of the non mainstream ABBA songs, at least Mamma Mia actually showed the song off so that people know ABBA has more songs than the mainstream ones.

I saw the movie last night and when this scene came on I felt incredibly emotional. I lost my mother two years ago this Saturday and I felt every word of this song as well as everything Sophie felt throughout the movie. It made me think of the bond my mother and I had which was so strong. I cried in the cinema and still wasn't over it even as the credits rolled. Such a powerful scene.

Just loved this film. This scene is so sad and beautiful at the same time. I was a sobbing wreck sitting in the cinema but so engrossed I couldn't have cared less who saw me. Made me think of my lovely Mum who passed away 2 years ago and my 18 yr old son who I am losing bit by bit day by day like the song says I don't possess you but you are my life and my love.

This has always been a very poignant song, that always had an effect on me.
But whilst watching the film Mama Mia 2, the effect on me was far greater than I could have imagined.
Even as I write this piece whilst listening to this song, my eyes are welling, just as they did when watching the film.
It was beautifully sung & produced in the film, and both actresses - along with the producers & directors - deserve much credit for this stark emotion wringing piece of cinema.

Cry is not the right word for what happened to me in that cinema! I was sitting there between my 69 year old mother and 20 year old daughter and the words in the song about the bond a mother has with her daughter just slayed me!! I got to the stage where I couldn’t keep the tears quiet and I was actually howling 😂😂 my daughter who had been crying at that stage bust her guts laughing at me and my mum had to get the emergency hankies out of the bottom of her bag 😂😂
