I think I can explain. He’s from Memphis. He embraced the original sounds. He’s a mixture of blues, soul and country just being from the delta, in the south where the birthplace of American music originated based on black gospel and blues and sprung up from there. Go to the Rock and Soul museum in Memphis and your eyes will open. He’s an epiphany of all soul touching American music. Gotta love him…
Chris really is a product of the South. Blues, R&B, Soul,, Southern Rock, Bluegrass, Gospel and Country all in that soul of his. If it's played or sung on or in the Porches, Parks, Clubs and Churches he has been influenced by it.
I don’t usually listen to country music so I just discovered Chris Stapleton last night. Now I can’t stop listening to him. His passion and genius (and heart-wrenchingly beautiful-sad-masculine voice and singing style) transcend music genres.
I'm a 62 year old WM and I dig the way y'all review the music! It's great to know that you younger dudes can climb into a song or artist and talk just how I feel. I've never heard anyone refer to Chris Stapleton as the white Prince, but y'all are right on!
I was blessed enough to see Mr. Stapleton perform last week in Chula Vista, CA. Simply amazing. He’s surprisingly funny and showed a lot of appreciation to his fans.
Chris has been my favorite vocalist, songwriter, musician since I discovered him in 2020. I Was Wrong live Austin City Limits It’s Man’s World 🌎 live impromptu performances Cold 🥶 live at CMA or Grammys Hold On live duet with HER at awards show Death Row live performance Say Something duet video with Justin Timberlake
I have watched this probably 5 times and I loose every time when he says Beauty and the Beast! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂! You guys are my favorite reaction guys. ❤😂❤😂❤😂. I’m 65 and going to his concert in Dallas on the 27th of October. Can’t wait!
His voice is spectacular. This sound system and microphone are really the best I've heard in letting you really hear what he sounds like. On this song, in particular, it sounds unforgettable.
He ain't the only one that can sing like that. I cover a lot of Chris's stuff bc I have the same range & vocal power he does. I'm not on his level, yet. But I can hold my own with him for sure. Love Stapleton. That dude is legit in anything he sings...period.
The blues originated from the pain and heartache of racism, discrimination and life of black people. They were able to release some of the pain from their wounds through the blues. So please, let’s not dismiss that historical it does have something to do with being black!
y'all know where Chris gets his passion from? he did a few tributes to ARETHA FRANKLIN HE SAID SHE IS THE GREATEST SINGER TO EVER LIVE OR WILL LIVE AND HE SAID HE COULD NEVER DO ANY OF HER SONGS JUSTICE BUT HE WAS GOING TO DO HIS BEST. y'all should check it out it's CHRIS STAPLETON, ARETHA FRANKLIN TRIBUTE at the FORUM AUGUST 2018 he sings her song DO RIGHT WOMAN, and you can see just how much he was influenced by her music. ARETHA FRANKLIN IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SINGERS OF ALL TIME, PURE TALENT AND PASSION❤❤❤RIP ARETHA FRANKLIN
"Chris Stapleton gonna take your girl and you ll be riding home listening to sometimes i cry" Thats probably the best and the most acurate comment ive heard about this man
This man takes words like Black, White, Christian, Muslim, Democrat, Republican, Poor and poor, puts it in a blender, mixes it all up and you wind up with something that's bigger than just being an American. He makes us Earthlings.
Ya'll need to react to Chris Stapleton "It's a Man's World", "I was Wrong", "Nobody to Blame", "Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore", honestly anything you react to by Chris will blow your mind. The man is a musical & vocal genius. He could sing the phone book & it would be awesome. Chris can sang!! Chris has been songwriting since his early 20's & has wrote many songs for other artist that have been hit songs. Chris's wife, Morgane is the one that persuaded Chris to start performing his songs live & recording them. Morgane is an excellent singer also. She sings backup for him, usually, on most songs. I saw an interview with Chris & the guy is down to earth & humble as can be. Just the humblest man you would ever meet. He also said he has well over 1000 songs he has wrote that are not recorded, just songs he has wrote. He said that when he is home, one of the first things he does is pick up his guitar & start playing, because he just loves playing the guitar. Chris Stapleton is indescribable when it comes to his singing & music. He can descend all genres of music.
Hey again, another suggestion of one of the greatest guitarists that has ever lived: Stevie Ray Vaughan. This man, Stevie, will leave you stunned & speechless with his blues/rock playing & singing. He is a legend. Songs by Stevie worth checking out are "Voodoo Child". This song is a remake of the original by Jimi Hendricks. Other songs are "Crossfire", "Texas Flood", "Cold Shot", "Tightrope", "Pride & Joy". Stevie Ray Vaughan sadly died in a helicopter crash, so he is not with us fans anymore. Stevie is cherished by his fans for his out of this world talent on the guitar & his music/songs that he wrote & sang. He died way too young & right when he was getting his life together. Just tragic. Stevie can wail on the guitar. It's unbelievable how great he was. He is very missed & loved. Check him out, Ya'll won't be disappointed.
Great comparison. Singers that you hear through your ears and feel from your head to your toes. BTW the Joe Cocker and John Belushi skit from old SNL is hilarious.
"The Teskey Brothers - Hold Me (Live at The Forum)" wait till you see him and his wife Morgan sing together. Her voice is just as powerful and soulful as Chris's.
@Chris stapleton NC...I'm a huge fan. There's something I've always been curious about if this is truly CS. Why choose to be a country artist, when you are so clearly a blues singer? Although, I realize that country and blues are first cousins. lol But, why not start out with the blues?
Its the depth of a real man it applies across race, money, status. Real men ,some, deal with a lot of pain at times. Soul has no Color. Check the whole album, father dont pray any more! I know the pain he sings of.
Love Chris Stapleton and I am not a country music fan. Think it's the soul he sings with. If you like bluesy soul , you need to check out Beth Hart and Joe Bonamossa live in Amsterdam doing I'd rather go blind!! The best cover and closest to Etta James that I've heard. You can thank me later lol. Love your reactions, you guys are honest , real and really understand music 🎶 🙌 💜
@@sueyu3603 think that you misinterpreted what I was saying. I love music across all genres. My favorite is old school metal and hard rock. So maybe next time just ask a question instead of assuming and being a jerk.
If you want to hear him when he sounds more straight Country, "Millionaire" is a very sweet song he sings with his wife. I'm guessing you won't enjoy it as much as the more blues/soul tinged stuff, but I think you'll still appreciate the talent and it might be interesting for you to experience at least one of those songs that he does just so you see the different styles he can do.
No back-up band, no autotune. Just an acoustic guitar and Stapleton’s voice. Wow.
"That man got a black uncle..." Literally made me laugh to the point of tears!
Me too, and he could have.
Me too. In a room by myself, laughing so loud, my husband thought I lost my mind 🤣
Y’all obviously never heard bluegrass inspired soul.
I think I can explain. He’s from Memphis. He embraced the original sounds. Me too!!! I had to pause the video just to get myself together 😂
God put this man on earth to prove that music has no boundaries, no color.
Chris is proof you should never judge a book by its cover. Lmao.
Yep stereotypes are the epitome of ignorance.Everyone is capable no matter their background.
SOUL don't care what color of the skin. He reaches in your soul and makes you feel, deeply.
"That's a note you ain't got to worry about anyone singing along with" that shit killed me 🤣
Lol it's true
🎯🫵🏽💯
I laughed out loud
If I could sing like Stapleton, I’d never speak a word. I’d sing during every conversation
Chris is the only singer I’ve ever heard who sounds better live than in studio recording! The man is unbelievably talented.
Agreed 💯 💪🏾
I was going to say the same thing. Man sounds absolutely amazing live.
Stapleton is the most uniquely gifted vocalist of my lifetime...dude is something else.
❤️❤️❤️
I look forward to seeing him in concert soon!
Chris Stapelton should be a secret Finisher for Mortal Kombat " Finish Him !!!" "CCCCCCCRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY" body explodes lol
😂😂😂
Aha I just laughed outloud in a doctor's office... Thanks 👍🤣 lol
LoL I'm dead hahaha
🤣🤣🤣

Yep
There's got to be some Van Morrison in there somewhere
Who cares who influenced him. He is a singer who makes you feel what he feels. He is a great story teller.
YEP! (King of the Hill voice)
True southern soul in that man. Amazing storytelling in his songs
That Chris Stapleton can sing the blues for real, Beautiful ❤️
I've never met him , but apparently he's just as good a human being as you'd think. My wife went to high school with him here in Paintsville Ky

you are correct about that, You can't put him in a box or genre
He may be a country artist but this is the blues. The chord progression, time signatures and the phrasing is ALL BLUES. Blues is the source, no cap!
Chris is a once in a lifetime talent. I'm so glad i get to be here to experience him and his gifts.
Amen
I disagree, there are a lot people who can tell their story with feelings. No matter the skin color.

He is the definition of a musical genius.
Chris is an Engineer too. Graduated top of every class HS and University. Brilliant man
The look on big man's face when he hears that run in the vocals just says it all. I am dying
I do so love a man who can cry... Ain't nothin more real...
Chris Stapleton can make me weep from deep in my soul.
Wow what a voice...
How good do you have to be to stand there, alone, play guitar and sing? And sound like that. And touch people like that. Perfection.
Just a man with a magnificent voice and his guitar. Nothing else needed.
Exakt
Yeah but he also sings from his soul ... and we all feel it
His layers and levels of his voice is unmatched
“COLD” live at the CMA Awards Show by Chris!!!!
