A truce is in the making among rival gangs in the City. Going into the Easter holidays, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, whose work in community policing has been bearing fruits, brought gangs together, today. It is not the first time that a truce has been tried, but Williams hopes that this time it will hold. The event started with a peace walk from the Raccoon Street Police station to the Rogers Stadium. Gang members traded in their bandanas in favor of white t-shirts bearing “We are Humans.” Along the route spectators watched members of opposing gangs marching in unity as a first indication that peace is possible. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

Praying for the best.... Inaction is worse than a failed attempt, so I will view this as a start.... God bless my homeland #Belize

It's shameful that you have more gang members in your nation than military forces. These guys don't even have enough discipline to stop smoking. Do you really think they will stop selling drugs, mad dog staring at one another, wearing colors or going to the club and getting into fights? That's how it all starts.

Make me stfu. Did I say something incorrect? If so, prove me wrong. I'm from the US and I've seen lames like this make peace walks and gang treaties before, and guess what, at the end of the day they're just a bunch of niggas. They always go back to killing one another. You can get mad all you want, but you ain't getting anywhere with a bunch of men who like to smoke weed, drink, sell drugs and go to the club. Conflict is inevitable until they take it upon themselves, each and every one of them as an individual, to stop and make a change and get away from that lifestyle. I've even seen members of the same gang turn on one another. And like I said they can turn their guns on one another but your nation is being taken over by Guatemala. I hope it works out, I really do, but I live in Detroit. I know niggas. Change will not come from a mass movement or a march. Change will come when each individual makes a decision to stop doing BS like that in their life.
