When In Rainbows first came out, I purchased it for 0 dollars. After hearing the content and falling in love with it, I have since purchased the CD, MP3 lossless, vinyl, In the Basement, and purchased as gifts for others. As Ed says, it's in the spirit of the thing. Had this have been top 40 dribble, I'm sure it would not have gone beyond my first encounter. Thank you, Radiohead for such artistry, musicianship, and personal experience.
That's Dave Fanning, as I'm sure you likely read in the description. He's an Irish radio presenter and music journalist. He's pretty much interviewed everybody in the music industry who's worth interviewing. I'm sure you could likely find a lot of his interviews on youtube.
Something I notice about all of the Radiohead interviews that I've seen, they all seem to all respect what each other say in interviews. They don't usually show disagreement and if they do it is well founded.
thanks susannkorda for uploading this. I live in Argentina and I never seen this interview before. they are so intelligent. it's great to hear rockstars thar aren't stupid for a change.
I would have bought in rainbows five times over back then had they charged for it. It's probably my favorite album as a whole....ok there's no favorite with radiohead lol
4.40. Ed talks about money. I agree with him entirely but I do find it ironic that by diminishing the cuts from the label and management, Radiohead probably made more money on this album than any previously. I'm not debating with Ed, I absolutely agree with him and I believe he made this point with total commitment and honesty. Just pointing it out.
Not my type of music but the 'pay what you want' download? Wow - John Lennon would've been proud of Radiohead. To shut some people up you could have a token minimum price.
@@SoftTangerineDreams I'm not saying that I thought they looked the same. I'm just saying that I've heard the band members names through the internet, and for some reason when I watched live videos I looked at Ed and assumed he was Johnny Greenwood. But when this video came up in my suggestions, I saw that I had guessed wrong, and then it made more sense after learning that Johnny and Colin are brothers, because Colin looks more like Johnny than Ed.
of course. at the time some criticized it cause it only worked for established bands, which is true, but it was still unstoppable. now there's bandcamp and stuff like that so it isn't completely hopeless for new bands, although it is hard. btw, since then radiohead sell less records but make more money.
That's when it comes down to your respect for artistry and not simply making as much money as you can. Of course you need to make money but there is a difference between having enough and having an insatiable lust for money.
Being greedy means taking more than you need. If you're a small band and you need to sell lots of records to pay rent, bills and food it's not greed. If you're a big band and don't need the money but sell records so you can have more money then it's greed.
+OldSchoolBacah They were just commenting on Portishead coming out with an album after a long break. Third came out around the same time as In Rainbows. Both bands became popular in the early-mid 90s. They're peers. I think Radiohead see Portishead as their sort of comrades in the struggle within the music industry.
Im curious why you used her as an example. So many 'artists' don't even get a say in what music they put out, its all written produced and packaged by the record label. Yet, you used someone who writes, performs a majority of and co produces her music. Can't stand her, but you have to give credit where credit is due or you'll make us people with good tastes look like the ones that care more about image than music, not the people that listen to crap.
Michelle Servais That's been happening forever. He had a botched eye surgery at a very young age. This is especially noticeable on the No Surprises music video. It dosent look ugly imo. It's like a little nice imperfection.
Someone gave me a leaked version of Hail To The Thief, and it's better than the final product. It was a birthday present, so don't shoot me, please. Some songs are longer, and there's more excellent tracks that didn't make the final cut...
You suck at what you consider a career, if the best idea you can come up w to put me behind bars is getting me to agree to selling you a leaked piece of copyrighted material. When society has imploded, look in the mirror and laugh at yourself for a job well done.
Que insolentes. Por que entrando en mis estudios y Fuck you model? Capitolio, the name is involved, why? No one here is untouchable. The model is responding, my pleasure.

How do you purchase From the Basement
Mp3 lossless.
@@HoShIfox19Contradictory, but it works

I love how halfway through this segment Thom just grabs a cup of tea and says, "Alright, take it away Ed."
It's always been my dream to have Thom sit in front of me while sipping tea
nice pfp
I know I am kinda off topic but does anybody know a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
@Colin Jose i would suggest Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
That's a [Nice Dream].
You can if you have a big enough imagination
I can easily say that this is by far the best Radiohead interview I've ever watched.
Ed kinda looks like a younger, fitter House, MD.
a fitter, happier Dr House
More productive
Comfortable, not drinking too much
Something I notice about all of the Radiohead interviews that I've seen, they all seem to all respect what each other say in interviews. They don't usually show disagreement and if they do it is well founded.
they can release an album of them banging on pots and pans and i'd still love it. they really are the best band ever.
Didn't they get a big applause after a like 4 minute re-tuning session on stage, where fans mistook it as a new song?
@@SoftTangerineDreams Yeah, they had actually! It was so funny!! But I dont think it's a good thing, you knon
They already made that, it's called The King Of Limbs.
@@hickorymccay2994 Bleeps and bloops + Mash
@@hickorymccay2994 they already did that its called packt like sardines, phil literally played no pots and pans in that song
Susannkorda thank you for posting these. I've been a radiohead fan since around '94 and have never seen such good interview footage
In rainbows is my favorite by far
mine is amnesiac, and hail to the thief
Kid A is mine
Fitting with your Ariel pfp cuz Nude was influenced by Little Mermaid
Just want to say Dave Fanning is an absolute legend.
Wow what a great interview, I really liked it thanks for the upload.
god, Ed's a hunk.
thanks susannkorda for uploading this. I live in Argentina and I never seen this interview before.

Radiohead doesn't give a middle finger to any big shots of music industry. They still win!
4:27 !! F*CK YEAH HE'S RIGHT
Great interviewer 👍
"They sell lots of CD's, everybody's happy."
That winds me up something chronic. 😎
Really gets my goat

When i do it people say it's creepy, when thom does it people think its cute. That's unfair. Either call me cute or call Thom creepy.

@langers37 Fantastic!
why isnt this complete?!
So I'm just starting to get into Radiohead, and I guess I've always confused Johnny and Ed.
I'm new as well, but Ed and Jonny are very different in my opinion. Ed has a more oval face, while Jonny's shape is a square

Jonny plays a Telecaster and also plays keyboards and is veiled my his own hair. Ed plays a Strat and pretends to do things.
