Hi Peter, I'm very impressed with the speed at which they have germinated and a very high success rate, clearly the fresh seeds make a huge difference 👍
Thanks, Brett. Yeah, I've been impressed with how quickly they've grown so far. Yeah, I agree the seeds were very fresh, almost starting to germinate inside the pods. I just hope I can keep them happy all winter now lol 😂
These are super beautiful!! I love how vibrant they look. The seeds right out of the fruit... what a huge difference!! I went into inga identification process 2 years ago when I bought my first... apparently, it's impossible to ID from leaf, you need at least one flower also. A leaf, a flower and a fruit, simply because there's too many of them.
Thanks! Yeah, they sprout very readily when fresh! I just hope I can keep them healthy over winter 🤞 Yeah, there are so many different species out there. I think these are most likely to be Inga edulis, but I guess I may never know for sure as they are very unlikely to ever fruit here lol 😂
Wow, those seeds have really done well. Maybe the high germination rate is due to them coming fresh from the fruit. Your seedlings look very healthy and the growth on some of them is impressive. I don't know much about this fruit but like you say in your video there are a bunch of species in the Inga genus that share the common name 'icecream bean'. Some of the fruit can be as long as a human arm. A really interesting fruit that I hope to try one day.
Thanks, Dom. Yeah, I think with them being fresh from the fruit has definitely helped. I just hope I can keep them healthy over the winter 🤞 I would recommend trying them if you can, although the ones we get over here are usually not the best quality. If you want I could send you some seedlings.
