Love the actual launch audio thrown in. You can hear the actual joy of back then with each successful launch they did. What a time to be alive in the space race.
Good choice with the Dynasoar. Blunt bodies are very difficult to scale due to the square cube law and are a complete dead end for anything more than crew landings. Investing in hypersonic 'flying' re-entry vehicles (anything from the shuttle to a starship belly flop) is a good idea.

34:20 I can confirm that a perilune of 420 069 meters allows for the most efficient lunar orbit insertion burn. But using the Centaur stage for lunar insertion and for braking burn before landing is a bit of a cheese. Irl early Centaur's endurance in orbit was less than 2 hours. It had no insulation to slow down liquid hydrogen boil off, due to it being difficult at the time to apply thermal insulation directly onto Centaur's very thin balloon tanks. Centaurs that flew on Atlas had insulation panels, but those were more like a payload fairing that protected the balloon tanks during ascent and were jettisonned once the vehicle was out of the dense atmosphere.

@@N9GamingOfficial One of the funny bits during the Command Module episode is that they are testing the automatic launch abort system. The test was done by putting the CM on a small rocket and then launching it. The abort system was supposed to automatically fire at 10k feet. However, when building the rocket, they accidentally messed up the roll gyro for the guidance system, which caused the rocket to spin. This ended up causing the rocket to rip apart, but the automatic abort system detected this and fired perfectly, giving the engineers the best possible test. Edit: The rocket was called Little Joe.

Honestly that lunar landing had me genuinely stressed on whether you would land it or not. Can only imagine how nerve-racking that must have been for you?
Curious if we’ll see a Katurn 1 flying with the E-1 engine - they were proposed IRL, but never developed in favor of H-1/RS-27 and F-1. On a related note, also wonder if we’ll see S-IC derived flyback booster stages instead of the upside down silliness of OTL’s Shuttle Orbiter.
Honestly, on this topic, I’m also curious if we’ll see an upgrade towards something like Saturn Multibody to fill the LV gap between Katurn 1 and the (presumably) upcoming Katurn V.
@@N9GamingOfficial Depending on how you set up your Katurn Multibody, you could probably wind up with an LV that’s able to loft Skylab-based station modules into orbit while being a lot cheaper than a Katurn V would be. There are also potentially advantages to just having a single monolithic core tank than a bundle of tanks. There’s also the fact that Katurn Multibody would essentially be able to cover every LV role from the bare Delta IV all the way up to ~80 tons to LEO, with Katurn V derivatives able to take over from there. Alternatively, with K-IC derived flyback boosters and a K-IVB derived upper stage, you could potentially get upwards of 40 tons into LEO with significant cost savings due to being able to reuse the first stage. Stick a Dynasoar derived glider on top, with a small cargo bay, and you get all the capabilities of the shuttle with the added possibility of *actually usable abort modes*.
