A little background on Himari: her father is a composer and her mother is a violinist. The live in Tokyo. HImari started playing at age 2, entered her first competition at 4 and performed with an orchestra at 6. So far she has entered 39 competitions and won 1st place in all of them. Himari practices 3 - 4 hours a day on school days, and for 6 hours on days with no school. She likes sports and reading, and is fluent in Engliish, which she learned because she travels around the world to play and wanted to be able to talk to people everywhere. Her goal is to study at Curtis Institute of Music.

A funny story of what happened to me when I was seven:
So I was also playing the violin at this time as well, but I‘m not East Asian, I am south Asian and my skin tone is tanned. The other girls in my violin class were pretty, and fair skinned so I was the weird one in the group. (Also a bit chubby.) I would never show up to recitals because they were either too far, we were too busy, or the teacher never told me. Mostly the teacher never told me the date or time or even me being registered. She did this with the other girls and not me. One time she told me to sit down and teach the other girls for no reason. Also I forgot my violin one time and she told me to get out. This was strange to me because last week my friend forgot her violin and she took mine and gave it to her. I know a lot of songs now and I’m still good at the violin but I don’t do it because of her. She often would be rude to me and never would teach me. She said that I was “too terrible” and I had to start all over. I was her “worst student.” I play the piano now so Yee. In conclusion, I’m never gonna play the violin because of her. Also don’t be rude. I guess she was like that because she’s old and not used to people like me so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

The WovenMantis ...What is sacrilegious is reading music and believing you are a musician. It is against my religion to read music, because what I do is between me and my god, and certainly god made music long before some bugger figured out how you could write it down so every Tom Dick and Harry could fancy himself a muso when really he's just a technician. My fingers know exactly what my ears want. It is easier, quicker, and you can learn tunes off recordings and in live sessions, scratch bands, and what more fun can you get? That kid wasn't reading, and she didn't learn it like that from reading, most likely a Suzuki student.
