Was a BMW fan for years, but the reliability /quality has really dropped off . Bought Lexus lc 500 recently it feels much better quality than the BMW 840 that I was also considering.

I owned a civic type r fk8, 2 golf r 7.5, Evo 8, 3 sti, 3 c6 z06, 3 6th gen zl1, gr corolla, new Supra 3.0, m240 xdrive g42, m2 g87. I have tracked half of them as well. What I have learned. Gr corolla is great in cold weather but in Arizona in 115 degrees my camry hybrid was more fun to drive. Honda is terrible, It over heats on track and grinds 1-2 at high rpm’s. Chevy is great powertrain but is a hit and miss on reliably sometimes(small things). Golf r garbage reliability. Bmw amazing powertrain and reliability while under warranty or if you’re lucky until 80-100k miles. Anything you treat like a race car is going to break like a race car. And if you are going to buy a race car and drive it like a Prius. Save the money and buy a Prius.
Excellent advice. All cars have weaknesses and strengths as you mentioned. Your insights are the same as mine having driven those cars as well (I've driven the GR Supra, Yaris, BMW m240, m235 etc). Thanks for your insightful comment.
Agree. Japan has also performance cars like those you listed. Plus other 'small drops in the bucket': Honda CTR, Mazda Miata, Mitsubishi EVO etc. Plus off-road amazing leaders: Nissan Patrol, Suzuki Jimny etc. JDM is the right choice also for performance, because that is far less expensive than the German performance (lacking reliability and the low TCO).
@@codincoman9019 What are you talking about? Mitsubishi hasn't made an EVO in years, the Mazda Miata is hardly even a sports car and is solely popular for its pop-up headlight variation. The CTR might be the only valid car you said and yet it has a DIRECT competitor: the GTI The LFA only had a few hundred produce, god knows how much is left, the most recent NSX stopped production in 2022. And Nissan has been making the same GTR for 17 years. And with them going bankrupt there might not even be another GTR. Face it, Japanese brands don't care for performance, it's the ugly truth. The most recent supra was, guess what, a German. And I don't know why you mention off-roading vehicles when we're talking about performance/sports cars but sure I'll humor you. Out of the top 5 best-selling brands in terms of pickups, 4 of them are American.

With such a dumb "logic", the Chinese commies' junk will soon be the best 🤣 As for the rest: Supra's recent engine does belong to Bring My Wallet, but things will soon change; I also bet that you'd feel stupid on the track behind my Miata ND2; the GTI might not get an update because VW is on the verge of bankruptcy and anyhow the CTR is better, especially in reliability and low TCO; except few totalled LFAs the rest are doing excellent etc. Just stay put, the reliability ranking - according to Consumer Reports' weighted average for the last 5 years reliability surveys - is very clear: #1 Lexus #2 Toyota #3 Mazda #4 Acura #5 Subaru #6 Honda #7 Porsche etc. If Suzuki and Mitsubishi (not present in the USA) would be included then the top 10 would have them too. The rest of the German clunkers are outside top 10 reliability and "champions" of a high TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). So... enjoy your German junk and hope to avoid getting broken. Smart people drive Japanese cars.

Just stay away from the most reliable brand in the world (and #3 in low TCO), it is only for smart drivers. Snowflakes cannot understand how important these two characteristics are. They are not educated to realize the sophisticated discreete Japanese luxury etc.
thanks for watching mate. I perhaps hold a different position on lexus. I personally prefer Toyota when it comes to basic lexus cars. However, performance wise.. Lexus do indeed make some great models. RCF, ISF, IS500, LFA, LC500 etc. Thanks for your comment!

Well, Lexus is the right choice vs. any German counterpart.
