You set yourself a tough challenge with this one. 3 weeks for Oz and both islands?!?! You seem to have hit the big sights, though it would be rushed. Sydney Harbor, Blue mountains, the Reef, Daintree are all must sees.
Yes Rob, it’s quite an itinerary, but it works for travellers with a limited time budget. Done this itinerary many times for my guests on my day job. They love it, especially with the right travel dates!
I'm Australian and can book my own local trips. I've recently booked a 3 week trip to the South Island next April. I've been jamming youtube for research and your channel is my favourite for road trips. I timed the trip, partly to match the Bluff oyster season. Do you have any suggestions for specific NZ seafood in the south like Paua and Whitebait. Also any good but short walks = like 15-20 minutes at most - I'm kind of a fat bastard. Also I'm cheap and introverted so don't want to join a tour but if there is a modest way to sling a few bucks to your business I'd be happy to oblige.
Spot on for heading south to Bluff. It's authentic NZ! Beside the oysters, the area - incl. Stewart Island (not sure if you go there) - is famous for Blue Cod and grayfish (lobster). There are also a few salmon farms around Stewart Island. If you heading towards Te Anau (Fiordland), travel via the Southern Scenic route and stop in Riverton. There is also a very small fishing port. The local museum is amazing (for a small village). Talk to the local on best fish place in town. They are very helpful & friendly there. Near Te Anau stop at the Rainbow Ridge Bridge (just after Manapouri on the left side), there is a car park. Then walk over the swing bridge onto the Kepler Track. Head towards Lake Manapouri as long as you want to walk (then return back). It's a very easy walk along the beautiful Waiau River. Enjoy your trip, April is such a great time! Cheers Michael
