That's high praise. The LPA were song my favorites growing up. That's IF I ever grew up! I'd love to see Marty and the band and Bill Kirchen play together.
The internet feeds us with all kinds of literally unbelievable information so I can't get past the fact that Kenny is 72 years old. For the love of God.
I am so impressed with Marty Stewart that he will play behind one of his band members like this. I think it shows what a great and confident person he is.
All 4 guys up front are shit hot guitar players. Paul played lead guitar with Exile and Chris may be the best of the 4. Love seeing Kenny being showcased. It makes Marty happy too. All talented guys.
This band is one of the few left that really understand how to play classic country. There's not a lot of bands like the Fabulous Superlatives because you have to be an exceptionally good musician, which is what they all are.
Bass player looks so clean cut and conservative until he shows us his badass side. Such a COOL amd hip band for a bunch of icons that have been in the business for decades! Wish I was that cool at that age!
Love this song! Sounds like a country song with a hint of "old school" jazz (the backup vocals). Kenny and Marty have become my two most favorite guitar players, bumping my previous favorites BB, Hendrix, Clapton, and Richards. And I loved the addition of the Steel Guitar. IMHO these guys are the best in Country Music Hands-down! Can't wait until they come near me in Prince Frederick Md.
Thats golden era! Mr Kenny Vaughan! AND THE OTHRES!!!!! And the AUDIEnce!!!!!!!! this is musics essence: feelings & love and joy transported ... slow or fast, or mellow... and the LYRICS: such skillyness there too!!!!!!! me likey the lot!
The lyrics in that last verse are both hilarious and awesome. "She can shake it she can break it she can hang it on the wall, throw it out the window run out and catch it ‘fore it falls She’s fast like that, fast like that, pitch it from the mound run and smack it with the bat she’s fast like that" Edit: just figured out the first half of that line is from the Bob Wills tune Bring It On Down To My House
I was just at the Earnest Tubb Record Store over the weekend. I strongly urge everyone who loves music to make the trip to Nashville and visit this place. It’s truly worth the journey.
Country was always on the back burner for me until I came across Marty and now Kenny ... and well, this is front burner stuff all the way man. I'm loving it! The Fabulous Superlatives is not an exaggeration!
All of these guys are great musicians. Most of all, I am impressed by the drummer. It's not about what he can do, but about what he chooses to (not) do, just to back up the band and still keep it interesting.
Kenny has been around for years. After seeing him in Lucinda Williams Band on Austin City Limits in 1998 I was hooked. Kenny is probably one the most unknown great guitarists around. He's credited on many other artists work. I'm happy I was able to see Marty and the "Fabulous Superlatives just before Covid kicked in.
@@e2renee I hope she's better after her stroke. I listen to Elizabeth Cook on Sirius XM a lot and she mentioned she's doing much better. We've lost so many people lately I would hate to she her go.

You can't dislike Marty and his band. He always has the cream of the crop. Kenny plays El Paso on acoustic just exactly like he record. That's tough to do. Grady Martin was a master.

@jpb1231000 I got to see Marty Stewart and the Fabulous Superlatives at a small venue a few months ago. Marty Stewart is a great guitar player in his own right. Both together on stage is great to see.

Little did anyone know then that Chris Scruggs would be joining The Fabulous Superlatives several years later and become an awesome addition to the band! Paul Martin has some pretty big shoes to fill. What an awesome group of talent!
How can Marty NOT have a Blast with People like minded... Chris Scruggs is a 6 Instrument Virtuoso and Countery Historian and Kenny has the BEST INTERVIEWS EVER with Otis Gibbs and Ask Zac!!! Music Pioneers and Preservationists!!!

They sound just like Commander Cody and his lost Planet Airmen in their prime.
That's true

@@jimtroyful FACTS!
Let's all chip in and buy a syndicated channel that has classics such as this on it's rotation.
I am so impressed with Marty Stewart that he will play behind one of his band members like this. I think it shows what a great and confident person he is.
He’s got a job to do, and he does it. With pride and joy. Ain’t got nuthin to prove to nobody ;)
Right?! The Real Deal♥
Me too. The guy's truly a giant.
Seriously, it's like watching The Traveling Wilburys.
All right ! i do aree with you about Marty StUARt ! The gaurd if this country style !
Scruggs plays like it’s 1940, amazing
It's in his DNA...lololol!
He's studied the steel masters from then on up. I think Kayton Roberts from Hank Snow's band is his mentor on steel.
The longhair, bearded phase. My first view. So this was Kenny's record release. Ho Lordt, more goodness than I knew of.
You can take any one member from this group and they have more talent than what's floating out there as country music.
I agree 100 percent
agree with you thus far. i shall vote for you in any election you participate in. Ya just got turn the right rock over and surprise shall emerge.
I'll add in pop genre too.
All 4 guys up front are shit hot guitar players. Paul played lead guitar with Exile and Chris may be the best of the 4. Love seeing Kenny being showcased. It makes Marty happy too. All talented guys.
@Matt_Dylan I'm now seeing your reply. Yes all the ones you mentioned are absolutely fantastic.
This band is one of the few left that really understand how to play classic country. There's not a lot of bands like the Fabulous Superlatives because you have to be an exceptionally good musician, which is what they all are.
Yes
Yes. They've obviously done their homework.
No kidding! You nailed it.
All incredibly talented musicians who still realize that playing music is supposed to be fun. Very rare qualities today.
Marty is having the time of his life sitting back with the band what a class act.
He's looking around, thinking he's got the best job in the entire world. He's not wrong, either.
Ole Chris Scruggs can do it on that old Fender steel, Kayton Roberts taught the boy well!
Isn't he just the best?!
It's basically tight like that but country fried
I can't get enough of this song. It's on my weekly rotation. And the guys are, as always, just superlative!
How do you set up a playlist for a weekly rotation ??
Quite a set of musicians including Chris Scruggs on slide guitar, grandson of Earl Scruggs.
Wow! Scruggs. He's OK on the bass, in the regular quartet, but on the steel...Whoa. All virtuosic players here.
Even Kenny said, Whoa!! The pedal steel player is goin' off!!!!
Yea!
"Professor Scruggs" as Marty calls him on the steel. You can imagine his bloodline.
He plays anything with strings like ot ain't got any!
Goes off the chain completely!
Yeah, musicians are a generous breed - they even let Earnest Tubb sit in.
Well, that's only appropriate, it is his store, after all! LOL
Somehow these guys come off totally cool. Others would look like goofs trying. Not these guys. Leads are so clean. Just love it!
Because they are the real deal. You should see Marty and the Superlatives live!
Marty just looks like he’s having fun!
Marty certainly has a right to smile. With astronomical players like that he is taking it to the bank.
Next SRV one you do should have “ couldn’t stand the weather “ & “ you’ll be mine” good examples of his muting and strumming techniques
Bass player looks so clean cut and conservative until he shows us his badass side. Such a COOL amd hip band for a bunch of icons that have been in the business for decades! Wish I was that cool at that age!
Otis Gibbs tuned me in to KV
Steel Guitar: Chris Scruggs
1947 till 2022 Ernest Tubb Record Shop Closers, some serious history now gone
Wow. I respect anybody who manages to make "thermostat" work in a rock'n'roll song!
Go, Kenny, go-go-go!

Agree on all right down to the exact list of former favorites. They're still awesome, but they're not Kenny and Marty and can't do what they do.
Nothing like hearing good country again! I can't listen to the crap out of Nashville these days.
Chris is one of the best musicians in music
Nice guy, too!
i could watch these guys all day
What did i just see? Holy smokes
This was the kind of music that made me damn proud to be from Nashville. Sadly it’s all but a niche market around here anymore.
My mother loved
Marty Stuart!!She's
sorely missed on this mothers

If you are into good guitar playing you are way into these guy👨🏻🦳
Kenny is great ... no pedalboard ... just guitar --> cable --> amp and the volume knob on the guitar! GREAT! 👌🎸👌
Kenny is a smokin picker no doubt, but Marty's tone on this one is "spot on Tele tone" hands down!
Love them both!
There's nothing wrong with pedals. It's all just sounds. Different people like Different sounds. : )
Thats golden era! Mr Kenny Vaughan! AND THE OTHRES!!!!! And the AUDIEnce!!!!!!!! this is musics essence: feelings & love and joy transported ... slow or fast, or mellow... and the LYRICS: such skillyness there too!!!!!!! me likey the lot!
This song kicks ass on so many levels ….I don’t think most people are aware …
Diggin' the dual guitar attack. They're HOT like that.
I especially like Chris Scruggs' Hank Williams style steel guitar solo.
He definitely got the DNA passed down!! Think I need to find some of his work to buy.
Scuggs is incredible on the steel.
Michael Hughes Give credit to Don Helms. He was Hank's steel player.
Friendly, polite young man, too. Met him a few times.
Damn those boys are good!!
Kenny is bad ass, Marty you are awesome !!!!

Bob may have borrowed that line himself. It's quite old. It's good to keep things like that fresh.

"workin' in the garden in a little straw hat - she's good like that" Just brilliant, Kenny. That line just nails it!
thank you so much Marty, cousin Kenny, Chris and The Fabulous Superlatives. Danged if you 'aint the bestest this side o' Talladega!
I almost have to watch this everyday!
If I ever get to Nashville, Kenny Vaughan will be on my MUST SEE list.
I like real country music like this , no the modern fake stuff that started coming out in the 90s ! If it’s called new country it ain’t country !
All of these guys are great musicians. Most of all, I am impressed by the drummer. It's not about what he can do, but about what he chooses to (not) do, just to back up the band and still keep it interesting.
